PLEASE BE ADVISED: (Non-AI generated content) It is painful that I am left to revisit this review as it is the last time any of my children shall attend this school as all have grown up or have found better suited educational arrangements. The pre-k side of this school is outstanding. I have absolutely nothing but praise for pre-k over the past 2 years. Those teachers are well trained and well versed in their work. However, at least for the 2026 school year the head-start side of this school has been anything but the aforementioned. My child a 3 year old; had over 12 encounters with a child or children in his class room that caused him to be physically hit. Upon hearing of this multiple conversations with the school director. This unfortunately led no where. The school told me that it is A. under funded, and B. understaffed by teachers in the class room. C. The school was under investigation as well by DHR. Parents aren’t involved as they should be in parent school involvement. Most need their arm twisted to get them on board to voluntarily do “anything”. When I did participate in school involvement it was particularly difficult because no one would show up to help. Most of the staff; of whom are older were the ones lugging around food drive item. Some of the staff deserve way more credit than they get, others need to be straight up replaced. Staff on the bus along with teacher, and Health manager couldn’t keep up with any of the medical forms requested from us. Repetitively loosing PHI. The whole situation just stunk. I couldn’t for the life of me figure out what went wrong. Staff was off kilter, volunteers were almost nonexistent, children to include my child were being allowed to beat on each other in the class room and on the playground. Observations that were had were more like dog and pony shows and didn’t really reflect to solve any problems. Except just raise your child at the school instead of at home because of teacher and teacher aid reliability issues. I’m not saying don’t go to this school but understand results and mileage may vary. I was with this school for almost 3 years between 3 of my children. It just turned out that head start was or isn’t being funded appropriately. But really take a lot of this as a grain of salt just as the school did. Zero seriousness about fixing the safety issue which led me to withdraw my son. All I got in return from the director was excuses, back pedaling, counter arguments, and straight up insults. It took him 3 weeks to stop talking about the children who hurt him, longer to stop talking about the teacher hurting his hand. No one wanted to hear it. Just be advised. Have a good day y'all. PS: all you parents that just drop your kids off and then don’t answer the schools calls and don’t show up to volunteer? YOU ARE THE PROBLEM!
Mark MathewsMar 26, 2026It is a good place for young children to go to if they live anywhere near Pell City, the teachers are great
barry OdenJul 24, 2025Love this school and their staff! My daughter has benefited from their program in so many ways! I'm thankful to see there are people who still genuinely care about what they do. Its such a blessing!
Joshua HaynesNov 24, 2023Great place to help your children learn and grow. They definitely work with any family situation going on. For example if you have an issue that may interrupt drop off times.
Shante HaywoodAug 13, 2022The administration and staff at this facility are wonderful. They always go above and beyond. My daughter has complex medical issues and they do whatever is necessary to make sure her needs are met. They are so friendly and her teachers are wonderful. I'm so glad she was able to attend their Pre K program. She has learned so much.
