Corrections policy
We publish public records. When a record is wrong, or when we have rendered it wrong, we want to know. This page explains which is which, because the fix is different.
Two kinds of error
Our error. We mapped a field incorrectly, matched a review to the wrong provider, showed a stale license status, or broke a link. We can fix these directly, and we will.
The state record disagrees with you. The licensing agency lists a capacity, status, or inspection finding that a provider believes is wrong. We cannot overwrite a state record, because republishing it accurately is the entire point of the directory. Correct it at the agency, and our next refresh picks up the change automatically.
How to report an error
- 1. Send us the page. Include the full URL of the profile or page showing the problem.
- 2. Name the field. Tell us which specific fact is wrong and what it should say.
- 3. Point at a source.A link to the state licensing record, or to the provider's own site, lets us verify without guessing. This is the step that makes a correction fast.
Send it through the contact form.
What happens next
We acknowledge reports within two business days. A factual error we can verify against a public source is corrected on the next data refresh for that state, and sooner when the fix is ours to make in code.
If we decline a request, we say why. The most common reason is that the disputed fact is the state's published record and not ours to change.
What we will not do
We do not remove accurate public information because a provider finds it unflattering. We do not delete or edit parent reviews, and we do not accept payment to change a listing, a ranking, or a score. Rankings are computed the same way for every provider.
A provider may always add context. If a violation has been resolved and the state record reflects that, tell us and we will make sure our copy is current.
For where each fact originates and how often we refresh it, see where our data comes from.
