The YMCA has an amazing summer camp program. My children loved the weekly field trips and swim days and all the fun art projects and activities. The staff are very professional and friendly.
Sandra KristalJul 30, 2026I’ve spent the past four days inside the Paradise Valley YMCA. My fourth distinctive YMCA visit to date and it’s stands to reason that this facility just might be the best of the bunch. Immediately you’re greeted with a smile and a charming hello from the person at the front desk. To your left is a full size basketball court and the respective locker rooms. I haven’t entered these rooms but I suspect there’s intention to their design. Past the welcome desk is the pool, only open in the mornings and after 4 pm for still unknown reasons. To your right are three studios, one of which looks to be a pulled straight out of a dancing with the stars practice b-reel, the next a space for kids to play, two racketball/squash courts then followed by a third cycling studio. If you continue down the hallway to the right you’re treated by light but stable house music filling the room lit with the kind of light that would look apt for a fitness influencer’s instagram content. Which leads you to wonder who populates this establishment? Well now you’ve entered the main room formally known as “the gym”. Amid this vast space there’s a glaring distinction between free weights and exercise equipment but beneath the surface a generational divide becomes clear. The young but athletically inclined to the left manning the free weights while the retirees enjoying their pensions and social security checks on the right with their sea of ellipticals and treadmills. There’s very little cross pollination between groups which might be by design. They exist symbiotically. I don’t yet know these dynamics in my brief four days at this establishment but what I do know is that the options are expansive, the equipment new, and the tvs playing law & order svu marathons all three days. And for those reasons, I believe this gym is well worth my monthly membership. Thank you.
Metropolitan MaxJul 27, 2026I love the Scottsdale/Paradise Valley YMCA. The people who work there are do pleasant. My trainer Josh is the best, but he's so great he's getting kicked upstairs, so you'll have to go with a different trainer. From what I've observed, they're all good people, certificated in and knowledgeable about their profession. And very helpful. This particular YMCA deserves a huge extra thanks because I'm there as a participant in a breast cancer survivors' study to help women with "chemo brain." Often used chemo drugs are neurotoxic. . This YMCA is helping science and also has the singular joy of training a bunch of old broads with short-term memories like Swiss cheese plus paperwork. They're heroes in gym attire. Karyl KrugJul 2, 2026I can’t say enough good things about our local . It truly feels like an extension of our family. What stands out the most is how involved and welcoming they are—not just for kids, but for parents too. There’s a genuine sense of community here that’s hard to find. One of the biggest lifesavers for me is their aftercare program. They pick my child up directly from school, which takes so much stress off my plate. Knowing my kid is safe, cared for, and actually enjoying their time after school gives me so much peace of mind. The staff are attentive, kind, and really take the time to get to know each child. My child comes home happy, engaged, and excited to go back—which says everything. They’re not just being “watched,” they’re participating in activities, making friends, and building confidence. If you’re looking for a place that genuinely supports families and creates a positive, nurturing environment for kids, this is it. We feel incredibly lucky to be part of this community.
Allison HApr 21, 2026The YMCA has a program to help Senior Citizens! They call it Y-OPAS They help with transportation & we get together once a month & we have so much fun with playing games, snacks & gives me a chance to get out & communicate with other wonderful people.
Claudia Jane LintonMar 11, 2026I attended the Silver Sneakers classes. The instructors and other workers are very knowledgeable and caring. I really enjoy the classes. The classes were very full, and the people are extremely friendly and helpful. The equipment needs updating. There weren't enough chairs for class, so elderly people were carrying the chairs from other places. The woman's chair next to me had uneven legs. One woman used a collapsed exercise ball. The bands were discolored and possibly all the same strength. I used weights brought from the gym by a man who had just finished using them. I do not know how equipment for Silver Sneakers is financed, but it needs to be done. I am willing to help in anyway as this is a great and necessary program.
