What California does not publish here

The state publishes when licensing staff visited, not what they found. We do not hold California’s inspection findings, so nothing on this page tells you whether a visit resulted in a citation. A visit count is a measure of licensing activity, and a facility visited more often is not for that reason a worse one. Read the findings in California’s own facility search.

  • Found this place online. Our kids ranging from 7 to 1 years old loved this place. Indoor and outdoor options for all ages. Plenty of playgrounds. Food options were good here and they had a large picnic area to eat outdoors. Kids can easily spend 4-5 hours here. I would say it great for kids under 10 yo.

  • The Bay Area Discovery Museum is a fantastic place for kids! The outdoor play areas are incredible, and the views of the bridge make the setting even more special. There are so many hands-on exhibits and interactive activities to keep children engaged for hours. I highly recommend packing a lunch and planning to spend the entire day—you'll have plenty to explore, and the kids won't want to leave!

  • Wow! For kids under 7 this is as fun as Disneyland. Between the first week of June and the first week of September there is a suds maker that is wildly popular with the kids. There is a cement mixer like revolving machine that the operator “shoots” into the crowd. The suds are like the same suds created when the dishes get washed. The kids LOVE it! Items not scary and the suds are harmless so even a toddler will find it fun PRO TIP: 1. Some kids like it so much that they don’t want to do anything else and eventually get their clothes wet. Bring a change of outfit as a back up. 2. The food is pretty mediocre even if graded generously. I suggest bring your own food. The museum is pretty good without the suds but the suds elevate it to a whole new strata. I would double check the website for confirmation that the suds will be operational. When we were here today, I think the suds machine operated from about 11:00 to 1:30 but check this so you don’t risk disappointment. As a grandfather, I got a kick watching all the kids and my grandkids thoroughly enjoy themselves.

  • Went for Art Week. A busy event! Started our day from 10:55a ended it at 2p. So much to do and awesome sights. Enough places to sit and get shade while the kids play. My daughter had a great time and she's autistic. Honors Musems for All :)

  • Have taken my nephew here twice, once in the summer and once in the winter. Both times there were new experiences to try for kids of all ages. The art room was a big hit as was the indoor skating rink (which involves sliding around on strap on plastic "skates"). Cute stuff! The outdoor climbing areas, the boat and the mud kitchen were also lots of fun. The food is expensive for what it is but otherwise this place is a dream for parents (or aunties) looking to entertain their littles with more than electronics and screens. The whole property is very well managed, with friendly staff, clean facilities, tons of parking, and lots to do throughout the year, rain or shine. Plus you can't beat the scenic view from the parking lot. Highly recommended!

  • If you are looking for a place for your kid to let loose, get dirty and explore, this is a great option. It is filled with interactive and curated immensive experiences. We brought a 1, 2 and 3yo and they all had a blast! Bring: snacks, water bottle and extra set of clothes...or two!

Questions parents ask about BAY AREA DISCOVERY MUSEUM

Is BAY AREA DISCOVERY MUSEUM a licensed child care provider in California?

Yes. BAY AREA DISCOVERY MUSEUM holds California licence 214005255, currently listed as "CLOSED" by the Department of Social Services, Community Care Licensing Division, first issued on November 29, 2012. Confirm current standing with the agency before enrolling.

What kind of child care licence does BAY AREA DISCOVERY MUSEUM hold?

California licenses BAY AREA DISCOVERY MUSEUM as a day care center, a category that covers preschool-age children in a centre-based programme. The category comes from the state's own licence record, not from the provider.

How many children can BAY AREA DISCOVERY MUSEUM care for?

BAY AREA DISCOVERY MUSEUM is licensed for up to 32 children at one time. Licensed capacity is a ceiling set by the state, not a count of current enrolment or of available places.

How often has California inspected BAY AREA DISCOVERY MUSEUM?

California records 2 inspection visits to BAY AREA DISCOVERY MUSEUM, the most recent on September 24, 2024 and the earliest on record August 16, 2023. The state publishes the dates of these visits but not what they found, so this count reflects licensing activity, not results. Read the findings themselves in California's own facility search.

Has California visited BAY AREA DISCOVERY MUSEUM in response to a complaint?

California records no complaint-driven visits to BAY AREA DISCOVERY MUSEUM. That means no concern prompted a visit on the public record, which is not the same as a clean inspection history: the state does not publish what its visits found.

Who holds the licence for BAY AREA DISCOVERY MUSEUM?

The licence is held by CHILDREN'S DISCOVERY MUSEUM, THE. California lists the licensee separately from the facility name, so the two often differ. The facility is in Marin County.
