What California does not publish here

The state publishes when licensing staff visited, not what they found. We do not hold California’s inspection findings, so nothing on this page tells you whether a visit resulted in a citation. A visit count is a measure of licensing activity, and a facility visited more often is not for that reason a worse one. Read the findings in California’s own facility search.

  • Our family has had a great experience in Ms. Desalie and Ms. Marlen’s class. They are caring and nurturing teachers who support growth both academically and socially while also understanding what is developmentally appropriate for young learners. Their class has been a wonderful introduction to school for our daughter. The front desk staff and other teachers are also very kind and welcoming.

  • Teachers are nice, front desk girls were not my favorite. They seem unwilling to help staff and when you walk by they’re shopping, cutting papers, or on their phones, They also can become very sassy at times or when challenged. Love Miss Drea!

  • It’s been awhile since my grandson went there, but I was not a fan of the ladies at the front desk. They talk about staff without realizing caregivers are right around the corner and seem annoyed when teachers need help. I had to tell them on multiple occasions that teachers were over their ratios and drowning. There are cameras everywhere, they should know this. We loved our teachers, but definitely not big fans of the supervisors up front. I think it was Jen and Tarin or Karen. Also we heard that they pay the teachers minimum wage! That’s just unbelievable and sad if true.

  • I saw a recent negative review and I just had to write that we had a great experience over the summer at Brighton Villa. We were really sad when our son‘s favorite teacher left for unknown reasons but all the other teachers and directors were really nice. Granted, we were not there for long, but we didn't notice any issues and no one was ever rude to us. My son loved all the decorations on the walls so I don’t agree that it’s a waste of time or money. If there were personal issues between staff, I’m not sure how a parent would know just dropping off and picking up. I had no idea there was a lice issue in another class. I can’t speak on how they handled the situation. But I can report that my son has been to several other daycares and has always gotten so many bugs. This is the first daycare where he did not get sick. I would 100% recommend Brighton to friends and family.

  • When we stared here, we loved it! Unfortunately, it has changed. Lots of the teachers we like get promoted to another site or leave for a better opportunity. The two current directors are the least favorite we’ve had- Shelby, Heather, and Jasmine were great. Jenny is ok, but Taryn especially can be difficult and condescending. Keeping these two together at this site has made things feel cold, they seem catty with staff. They spend SO much time and money on re-papering/decorating the walls every 2 months, that money would likely be better spent on making/keeping staff happy. Also, they’ve added random holidays (example- the day after or before formal holidays) which is very inconvenient for working families. A major issue for several of the families was a LICE outbreak that they handled TERRIBLY. They did not notify the families that they had found lice in a classroom until the next afternoon- so we all dropped off our kids- then more of them ended up getting lice, obviously. Thankfully, my daughter wasn’t in the classroom with the problem, but it was still strange to watch the way they handled it and they said they would do it the same way if it happened again! They were not apologetic and sent a follow-up email defending their actions. Multiple families dropped out due to this issue. We do feel overall safe here, which is a plus, and we have one more year so hoping for the best for our daughter. Also hoping they read this and make some changes for the better.

  • Can’t say enough great things about the care they show for my son, through transitions and adjustments, they are kind and attentive. The directors are involved and helpful. The teachers are all very communicative and my son loves his great teachers from both classes he’s been in so far. I came from another, less than ideal, preschool and this one surpassed all expectations. In addition to the videos, we get daily updates on how they ate, slept, and what they learned as well as any teacher notes if there were any acting out behaviors or superstar moments. They were a HUGE help with potty training and transitioning out of pull-ups. At age 3 he knows some sign language, can sign, spell, and write his name. Knows colors in Spanish and other phrases as well. Get on the waitlist early!

Questions parents ask about BRIGHTEN ACADEMY PRESCHOOL

Is BRIGHTEN ACADEMY PRESCHOOL a licensed child care provider in California?

Yes. BRIGHTEN ACADEMY PRESCHOOL holds California licence 103808846, currently listed as "LICENSED" by the Department of Social Services, Community Care Licensing Division, first issued on May 20, 2014. Confirm current standing with the agency before enrolling.

What kind of child care licence does BRIGHTEN ACADEMY PRESCHOOL hold?

California licenses BRIGHTEN ACADEMY PRESCHOOL as a day care center, a category that covers preschool-age children in a centre-based programme. The category comes from the state's own licence record, not from the provider.

How many children can BRIGHTEN ACADEMY PRESCHOOL care for?

BRIGHTEN ACADEMY PRESCHOOL is licensed for up to 134 children at one time. Licensed capacity is a ceiling set by the state, not a count of current enrolment or of available places.

How often has California inspected BRIGHTEN ACADEMY PRESCHOOL?

California records 3 inspection visits to BRIGHTEN ACADEMY PRESCHOOL, the most recent on May 5, 2026 and the earliest on record July 26, 2022. The state publishes the dates of these visits but not what they found, so this count reflects licensing activity, not results. Read the findings themselves in California's own facility search.

Has California visited BRIGHTEN ACADEMY PRESCHOOL in response to a complaint?

California records 6 complaint-driven visits to BRIGHTEN ACADEMY PRESCHOOL. A complaint visit means someone raised a concern and the state went to look. California does not publish what those visits found, so the count on its own does not say whether any concern was upheld.

Who holds the licence for BRIGHTEN ACADEMY PRESCHOOL?

The licence is held by PETERSON, KRISTIN. California lists the licensee separately from the facility name, so the two often differ. The facility is in Fresno County.
