What California does not publish here
The state publishes when licensing staff visited, not what they found. We do not hold California’s inspection findings, so nothing on this page tells you whether a visit resulted in a citation. A visit count is a measure of licensing activity, and a facility visited more often is not for that reason a worse one. Read the findings in California’s own facility search.

After coming from another daycare, we were a little nervous about how the transition would go—especially for our almost 3-year-old. Thankfully, the entire team at Brighten made the process so smooth and welcoming for our crazy crew! We love how structured the program is, and every staff member has been kind, caring, and supportive. One thing we appreciate most is the open communication. They keep us informed about both the good moments and any challenges, and we truly value that level of honesty and transparency. We’ve been so impressed with how much both of our kids are learning, growing, and truly thriving at Brighten. It has been amazing to watch their confidence blossom and their excitement for school grow each day. One piece of advice: clear off your fridge! You’ll quickly run out of space with all the adorable artwork and creative projects they proudly bring home. We are so thankful we made the switch, and our family highly recommends Brighten to anyone looking for a caring, structured, and communicative childcare center.
Tori SchreiberJul 15, 2026We have had nannies and tried an at home daycare before this when it was time for more socialization and we've been so happy with Brighten on Fresno. Our kiddo absolutely loves it there, they are excited to go and tell us what they did when they get home, adore each teacher and have made friends of what feels like every other kid there. This is a structured preschool, akin to Pre-K, so keep that in mind for what kind of environment you expect for your child and consider if they are ready for that. At school they do a different craft each day, have strong indoor and outdoor group activities, a good and thought out curriculum and have regular events for parents to come join their kids at school. Like any modern childcare, they do have a computer in the room for the teacher, but it's just there to replace the CD/tape player and TV of our own childhood classrooms, and use it mostly to play music for the teacher's sing alongs or play a PG or educational movie during quiet time if your kiddo doesn't partake in nap time (they still can play with toys if they don't want to watch). During nap time the teachers will go around and help those who need some help going down for their nap, rubbing and patting backs and letting some sit in their laps until they go down. They merge the classes and teachers depending on the time of day and number of students, so your kiddo gets some limited exposure to kids of other ages, which is a good thing for growth and the staff have been wonderfully equipped to handle any potential issues throughout the whole day and has general care and kindness towards our child and us as parents, something our at prior home daycare severely lacked. The facility itself is always clean, well maintained, well lit and has cameras throughout the school so you can always check in on your kiddo to see how they are doing and watch them grow and interact with other kiddos. We have another kiddo in Nancy Fuller which is also great but we'll be moving them over the Brighten as soon as they are old enough to have them together, which was the main reason why we took a chance on an at home daycare before this.

Chelsea ScottAug 28, 2025I was initially so excited about enrolling my 3-year-old son at Brighten Academy. Their online presence is incredibly polished—they do a great job "selling" themselves as a top-tier preschool. Additionally, the location is perfect for my husband and I, making it seem like the ideal choice for our family. Unfortunately, our excitement quickly turned into disappointment. The same week we enrolled our son, we found ourselves unenrolling him. The teacher in his class, Ms Arias lacked professionalism and expertise, which was evident in her complete lack of engagement with the children. There was minimal effort to provide stimulating or enriching activities, and the amount of screen time was alarming. The classroom seemed to operate on a limited, uninspired routine: a disengaging circle time, recess, and then indoor free play with blocks and Legos before nap time. If your child doesn’t nap, they are essentially left to sit on the carpet and watch YouTube videos on the teacher's computer. This approach felt lazy and completely unacceptable for a preschool setting. The only redeeming quality of Brighten Academy was the ability to watch my child via the cameras, which gave me firsthand insight into what was happening (or, more accurately, what wasn’t happening). For a school that prides itself on being well-regarded, I was shocked that the directors, Sabrina & Andrea, allowed this level of neglectful teaching to go on. Ultimately, this classroom lacked meaningful engagement, stimulation, and leadership. I cannot recommend Brighten Academy to anyone seeking a nurturing and enriching preschool environment for their child. Especially for the prices they charge.
Chelsey FloresNov 30, 2024My son was there for his first day for not even a couple hrs and they called me to kick him out because he wouldn’t sit down like what’s the point of sending him here if they can’t handle a 3yr old? Aren’t they supposed to help teach kids right from wrong they had a physicians report saying my son is delayed in a few areas but couldn’t even try to finish the day out with him and when I picked him up to leave the school he was crying because he wanted to stay
Ida CristinaSep 18, 2024Our 2 yo daughter has had nothing but a positive experience at Brighten since we enrolled her this summer. She looks forward to going to school, knows both her teachers by name and is excited to see them, and has shown great progress with her vocabulary, alphabet, and numbers. She is always in great spirits when we pick her up and have had no incidences that cause us concern. Our ability to see what she’s doing in the classroom and in the playground also gives us peace of mind. My husband’s and my interaction with the staff have also been positive. They are responsive and has been accommodating on days when we need an extra day to bring our daughter to daycare, even when it’s not her regular school day. We highly recommend Brighten, and this location in particular.

Questions parents ask about BRIGHTEN ACADEMY PRESCHOOL
Is BRIGHTEN ACADEMY PRESCHOOL a licensed child care provider in California?
- Yes. BRIGHTEN ACADEMY PRESCHOOL holds California licence 103810168, currently listed as "LICENSED" by the Department of Social Services, Community Care Licensing Division, first issued on August 16, 2021. Confirm current standing with the agency before enrolling.
What kind of child care licence does BRIGHTEN ACADEMY PRESCHOOL hold?
- California licenses BRIGHTEN ACADEMY PRESCHOOL as a day care center, a category that covers preschool-age children in a centre-based programme. The category comes from the state's own licence record, not from the provider.
How many children can BRIGHTEN ACADEMY PRESCHOOL care for?
- BRIGHTEN ACADEMY PRESCHOOL is licensed for up to 85 children at one time. Licensed capacity is a ceiling set by the state, not a count of current enrolment or of available places.
How often has California inspected BRIGHTEN ACADEMY PRESCHOOL?
- California records 2 inspection visits to BRIGHTEN ACADEMY PRESCHOOL, the most recent on February 25, 2026 and the earliest on record August 17, 2022. The state publishes the dates of these visits but not what they found, so this count reflects licensing activity, not results. Read the findings themselves in California's own facility search.
Has California visited BRIGHTEN ACADEMY PRESCHOOL in response to a complaint?
- California records 1 complaint-driven visit to BRIGHTEN ACADEMY PRESCHOOL. A complaint visit means someone raised a concern and the state went to look. California does not publish what those visits found, so the count on its own does not say whether any concern was upheld.
Who holds the licence for BRIGHTEN ACADEMY PRESCHOOL?
- The licence is held by PETERSON, KRISTIN. California lists the licensee separately from the facility name, so the two often differ. The facility is in Fresno County.
