What California does not publish here
The state publishes when licensing staff visited, not what they found. We do not hold California’s inspection findings, so nothing on this page tells you whether a visit resulted in a citation. A visit count is a measure of licensing activity, and a facility visited more often is not for that reason a worse one. Read the findings in California’s own facility search.

Our daughter has been at CMS for the past couple of years, and we honestly can't say enough good things about it. The teachers and staff are warm, patient, and clearly love what they do, and it shows in how much our daughter has grown. We love how CMS makes an effort to make school fun and exciting. Such as doing themed days like pajama day or crazy hair day, water play, or the yearly Halloween parade. One of our favorite memories was the Christmas party, where the kids practiced songs and performed them for the families. Watching our daughter get up there with her classmates was such a special moment, and we could tell it gave her a real boost of confidence. We've also been really impressed with how thoughtfully the curriculum is put together. They cover important topics including: phonics, counting, early math, patterns, writing, and spelling in a way that feels age appropriate and fun, not forced. I also like when they have themed weeks, including themes like the solar system, things we do during summer, or friendship which keeps things fresh and gives her something new to talk about at home. They also do a great job tying in nearby holidays through themed lessons and events, so the kids get to learn about and celebrate different traditions throughout the year. We also really appreciate how connected the school keeps families through their app, with photo updates from the day, reminders, and notes about what's coming up. It's a small thing, but it makes a big difference. Moving on to TK is bittersweet for us, but we're so thankful for the foundation CMS gave our daughter. Highly recommend to any family looking for a place that truly cares.
Cliff ColburnJun 13, 2026Our son went to CMS from 3-4.5 years of age. We were impressed from the beginning, even when we toured the school. The teachers are so caring and compassionate. They really take the time to know the individual child. Our son learned so much while there. He knows how to write the alphabet, spell & read a few simple words. He learned some Spanish & Tagalog too. He also made some great friendships along the way! We feel he is very prepared to start TK. Communication was always great, from emails, the ClassDojo app & at drop -off/pick-up time. We will miss CMS but plan on sending our younger child there when it’s time.
Cori KitauraAug 6, 2025Our son attends CMS since he was 2.5 and loves to go to school each day. The teachers are attentive, caring, and compassionate with all the children. There's a learning theme each week, plenty of outdoor activities, and a concerted effort to learn through play which was very important for us. We'll be sad to leave once he goes to TK but good thing his sister will go in a year-ish.
A.K. KapoorAug 21, 2024My daughter has attended CMS for the last two years and I couldn't be happier with her time there. The teachers at CMS are all so caring, attentive and kind. My daughter felt safe and heard there, which is a huge testament to amazing teachers at this school. They are great at communication, sharing updates, and customizing to the needs of the children. They are level-headed and reasonable with requests, engage parents and help children where they are needed. Also, it's great they heat up the kids lunch so they can have yummy food! They bring in enriching activities that make the kids day (animals, visits from fire fighters, magicians). My daughter grew up in so many ways at CMS, beyond academically they fostered her self confidences and self-worth. She left CMS to go to Kindergarten, prepared both academically and emotionally. To prepare your kid to be ready for Kinder is no small feat, and I'm so happy we chose CMS. I would highly recommend it to anyone.
Christina CorrAug 20, 2024It was an amazing positive experience for my two kids at California Montessori School. Teachers are thoughtful, attentive and caring. Kids are really learning and growing. I still remember the first day my boy joined CMS, he knew no single english words at all. But not for long, my boy spoke english like a native and made friends at school thanks to the help of all the teachers, espeically teacher Reenu. She built the curriculum that sets kids up for success as they enter into Kindergarten and beyond. I also trust CMS to maintain a safe, clean environment that teaches kids self-responsibility. Therefore, when my younger girl turned three, i didnot hesitate a single minute to send her to California Montessori School. For those who are looking for a preschool, I cannot recommend this one enough -- thank you CMS for everything you did to care for our two kids and set them up for success!
YiMu LiJul 8, 2023My kids look forward to coming here every morning. They provide optimal snacks and nutritional food. The staff go beyond expectation when looking after our little ones

Questions parents ask about CALIFORNIA MONTESSORI SCHOOL
Is CALIFORNIA MONTESSORI SCHOOL a licensed child care provider in California?
- Yes. CALIFORNIA MONTESSORI SCHOOL holds California licence 410503229, currently listed as "LICENSED" by the Department of Social Services, Community Care Licensing Division, first issued on December 1, 1979. Confirm current standing with the agency before enrolling.
What kind of child care licence does CALIFORNIA MONTESSORI SCHOOL hold?
- California licenses CALIFORNIA MONTESSORI SCHOOL as a day care center, a category that covers preschool-age children in a centre-based programme. The category comes from the state's own licence record, not from the provider.
How many children can CALIFORNIA MONTESSORI SCHOOL care for?
- CALIFORNIA MONTESSORI SCHOOL is licensed for up to 38 children at one time. Licensed capacity is a ceiling set by the state, not a count of current enrolment or of available places.
How often has California inspected CALIFORNIA MONTESSORI SCHOOL?
- California records 3 inspection visits to CALIFORNIA MONTESSORI SCHOOL, the most recent on July 14, 2026 and the earliest on record June 19, 2023. The state publishes the dates of these visits but not what they found, so this count reflects licensing activity, not results. Read the findings themselves in California's own facility search.
Has California visited CALIFORNIA MONTESSORI SCHOOL in response to a complaint?
- California records 1 complaint-driven visit to CALIFORNIA MONTESSORI SCHOOL. A complaint visit means someone raised a concern and the state went to look. California does not publish what those visits found, so the count on its own does not say whether any concern was upheld.
Who holds the licence for CALIFORNIA MONTESSORI SCHOOL?
- The licence is held by HARJIT K. DHILLON. California lists the licensee separately from the facility name, so the two often differ. The facility is in San Mateo County.
