What California does not publish here

The state publishes when licensing staff visited, not what they found. We do not hold California’s inspection findings, so nothing on this page tells you whether a visit resulted in a citation. A visit count is a measure of licensing activity, and a facility visited more often is not for that reason a worse one. Read the findings in California’s own facility search.

  • We have been so happy with Carlsbad Country Day School. Our son started 6 months ago and is in Ms. Joana's class. He has the most caring, involved, and attentive teacher. The rest of the staff are also excellent, open and communicative. We could not recommend them more!

  • My friend strongly recommended Mr. Melissa J and Carlsbad Country Day School. Hearing so much good things from my friends, we decided to move my daughter to CCDS despite the higher price. And so far I think that's one of the best decisions I have made. Ms. Melissa J teaches there because she cares about the kids. She not only teaches them the knowledge but build their emotional strength. She teaches the kids to be assertive and confident, kind and love, love yourself and others. She emphasizes communication very much and she would text the parents if there is something to concern or some happy thing to share. That's why now my second daughter is also in CCDS. They keep the most fantastic teachers. Ms, Madeline is my daughter's 2-year teacher. She is energetic, caring and observing. In their monthly report, she writes in great details how kids grow in different aspects. My younger daughter everyday enters the classroom with big smiles and happily wave-bye to me, which is rare for her sister in the similar age. I think the school makes the difference. The downside: the tuition increases 5% every year, making it one of the most expensive daycare in Carlsbad area. with this rate I don't know if I can afford two kids there in a few years. And no tuition reduction when you are on vacation. Suggestion to the management: slow down the increase rate; 50% tuition reduction for vacation longer than 2 weeks like other competitors do.

  • Our daughters both attend Carlsbad Country Day School. They both love going each day and adore their friends and teachers (Ms. Ashley Coleman and Ms. Rachel Dominguez). As a parent you only want the best for your children and to know that they are in a safe and caring environment where they get to learn, play and laugh. We definitely feel this way about Ms. Ashley Coleman and Ms. Rachel Dominguez as well as with the rest of the staff. The facility is also very nice, has a lot of natural light and is always clean.

  • Our family tried four different preschools due to relocating. This is by far the best. My daughter went to carlsbad Country Day for two and a half years before starting kindergarten and my four-year-old son is currently enrolled here. The teachers are over qualified and treat my children as their own. My children love the teachers there. My son is currently in Mrs. Ashley's class and she keeps us updated on his progress daily. Not only is he learning a lot but he's making deep friendships and is emotionally and socially fulfilled. Our family is so thankful we found this school.

  • Our daughter spent four years in Mrs. Courtney's class and loved every minute of it. We love Courtney. The friendships we made persist. Courtney is an outstanding teacher and our daughter came out of her class having had four years of advanced curriculum, amazing adventures, and feeling like the loved and cherished child she is. Most importantly, I never worried about my daughter at CCDS. I felt comfortable every day knowing that she was in a safe environment and that people that genuinely cared for her were looking out for her. Their enrichment programs are wonderful too. We were constantly amazed when our daughter would suddenly burst out with "I'm a little teapot" in Spanish, or something else we didn't even realize she knew.

  • We are very happy with Carlsbad Country Day School. Our daughter has been in the school for a little more than a year now and she loves to go to school. The facility is new, food is good and most importantly the teacher is awesome. In particular, Miss Jenny is such a great teacher and we are so glad to have our kid in her class. She is great with the kids and they all love her. She keeps the parents current with the progress of the kids with the review book and Facebook. She is very attentive to details and can find every small progress our daughter can make. We would recommend this school to anyone and specifically Miss Jenny.

Is CARLSBAD COUNTRY DAY SCHOOL a licensed child care provider in California?

Yes. CARLSBAD COUNTRY DAY SCHOOL holds California licence 376700245, currently listed as "LICENSED" by the Department of Social Services, Community Care Licensing Division, first issued on October 23, 2006. Confirm current standing with the agency before enrolling.

What kind of child care licence does CARLSBAD COUNTRY DAY SCHOOL hold?

How many children can CARLSBAD COUNTRY DAY SCHOOL care for?

CARLSBAD COUNTRY DAY SCHOOL is licensed for up to 162 children at one time. Licensed capacity is a ceiling set by the state, not a count of current enrolment or of available places.

How often has California inspected CARLSBAD COUNTRY DAY SCHOOL?

California records 2 inspection visits to CARLSBAD COUNTRY DAY SCHOOL, the most recent on October 1, 2025 and the earliest on record September 2, 2021. Has California visited CARLSBAD COUNTRY DAY SCHOOL in response to a complaint?

California records 3 complaint-driven visits to CARLSBAD COUNTRY DAY SCHOOL. A complaint visit means someone raised a concern and the state went to look. California does not publish what those visits found, so the count on its own does not say whether any concern was upheld.

Who holds the licence for CARLSBAD COUNTRY DAY SCHOOL?

The licence is held by CARLSBAD COUNTRY DAY SCHOOL, LLC. California lists the licensee separately from the facility name, so the two often differ. The facility is in San Diego County.
