Between our two kids, it’s our 8th year with CMS! We have experienced all three levels of this amazing school and there was not a day when we didn’t feel lucky for our children to be part of it. Not only is this an authentic AMI school that meticulously follows the Maria Montessori system, but there are also always improvements, creativity, and so much love for the children. The teachers for all levels are exceptional, caring, and nurturing. An excellent staff makes sure all the logistics run smoothly, and our brilliant Principal provides invaluable parent education—whether it’s regular informal coffee chats or all-school parent meetings. To top it off, we have a wonderful parent community that grows stronger year after year! Even the youngest kids (Young Children Community, 18m-3y) get to do practical work which helps them become independent and confident. They learn to dress themselves, get gentle toilet training, grow plants, and even make their own pizza every week! Children in the Children's House (3-6y) thrive by doing more practical work, preparing snacks, taking care of the garden, and learning languages. They become efficient readers and are able to write in cursive before they start elementary! Elementary children are instilled with a love of learning and introduced to advanced academics. Being in a multi-age classroom, the kids are trained to be kind and patient with their younger friends. They are exposed to amazing opportunities, from the Montessori Model United Nations in NYC or a trip to Washington, D.C., to taking a trip abroad where they create the itinerary and raise funds all by themselves. The school reinforces the importance of reading and mindfulness regarding screen usage. All learning is done on paper, and children are allowed a modest amount of curated time on school computers.
