What California does not publish here

The state publishes when licensing staff visited, not what they found. We do not hold California’s inspection findings, so nothing on this page tells you whether a visit resulted in a citation. A visit count is a measure of licensing activity, and a facility visited more often is not for that reason a worse one. Read the findings in California’s own facility search.

  • When my son first started CCC, I was nervous and unsure. We were transferring from another lovely, smaller preschool that topped out at about eight kids per class. Before entering kindergarten, my husband and I agreed that we wanted our son to be able to spend as much time being a kid with other kids, in a space where parents are invested in language and behaviors rooted in acceptance, openness, and growth. CCC has exceeded our expectations and it was has been incredible to watch our child create friendships, navigate conflict, and both learn about and from others in the process. The teachers are loving, thoughtful, and rooted in RIE and play-based teaching, which is exactly what we were looking for in a school. The campus is gorgeous, multi-levels, and full of families from different cultural and financial backgrounds, something that I worried about with other financially-prohibitive co-op spaces. Take a tour. Meet parents, teachers, and community members/Alumni who know CCC culture and history. It has been around since 1927 and I hope to see it thrive for at least another one hundred years. CCC truly is the blueprint.

  • CCC has been such an incredible adventure for our family. We’ve been there for almost two years. I was initially apprehensive about the amount of work a co-op needed given that both my spouse and I work full time with difficult commutes. However, I was swept off my feet when we visited by the fairy land-like grounds, and it has been well worth it for our son. There is a lot of free play options. Every morning there are new interesting stations set out in addition to access to sandpits, water play, indoor play, and beautiful gardens where all the plants in the school are edible. It is fun being able to be involved in a co-op and getting to know the wonderful teachers, other kids and their families which creates a unique bond we didn’t have in our previous preschool. Our son has thrived here, and is growing to be self confident, kind, and compassionate, and looks forward to going to school. Families are able to share their unique traditions with the kids in school and there are frequent community events like camps, play dates, volunteer work. Overall it’s been one of the best decisions we’ve made. We feel very lucky to be part of the community.

  • When I toured CCC I had tears in my eyes, it was what I had always dreamed of for a preschool for my child. Let me set the scene: kids enjoying snack in the “garden café” and grazing on fennel, mint leaves, and cherry tomatoes fresh off the vine alongside the served snack; rotating games and projects that change every week and keep the kids constantly engaged, guest teachers coming in to teach dance or discuss native plants and make seed balls, parents sharing their family traditions at circle time and then baking mooncakes or challah bread with the kids, mindful conflict resolution happening all the time where the kids ask for a “check-in” (something we now do at home on a daily basis); kids building canal systems in the sandbox from the rainwater basin; and passionate teachers telling imaginative stories while the children eat lunch. These are just a few of the things that make CCC magical. One of the ways I’ve grown the most as a parent is the workshops that help parents navigate hard topics like how to talk about race with your children. CCC is the oldest co-op preschool in the country and was founded nearly 100 years ago, some of the teachers have been there for over 16 years, that alone speaks volumes! I can’t recommend this school enough for anyone who wants to raise their kids in a loving and intentional community.

  • We love CCC! There are so many opportunities for creative outdoor and indoor play. The teachers create a space for kids to be themselves and they are experienced at helping kids work through challenging moments. It's impactful watching the CCC teachers help kids build skills to communicate about their needs, boundaries, and feelings. We have grown tremendously as parents by being part of this co-op and being in community with the teachers and other families.

  • CCC is a truly magical place for children and families, and we feel so lucky to be part of this beautiful community. The teachers are true masters of child development and treat each child like their own. I am constantly in awe of how the teachers are able to find and bring out the good in each and every child and make them all feel special, valued, and cared for. One of the best parts of being a CCC parent is the opportunity to be directly involved with your child’s education and getting to learn alongside the staff about how to be a stronger parent and community member. Although we have only been at the school for a couple months, I have already grown so much as a parent, and my daughter is thriving as well.

  • CCC is such an incredibly magical place. The teachers and staff are phenomenal at guiding both children and their families/caregivers. The co-op model requires effort and input from all, and the result is a truly supportive and nourishing village that is hard to find in so many aspects of our modern world. The anti-biased, play-based approach is invaluable - our child has developed creativity, confidence, friendships, conflict resolution skills, and so much imagination. The school is dedicated to inclusion and belonging and really walks the walk to create an inclusive space for all families. I am so glad we chose this preschool as our home away from home.

Questions parents ask about CHILDRENS COMMUNITY CENTER

Is CHILDRENS COMMUNITY CENTER a licensed child care provider in California?

Yes. CHILDRENS COMMUNITY CENTER holds California licence 010200115, currently listed as "LICENSED" by the Department of Social Services, Community Care Licensing Division, first issued on July 15, 1985. Confirm current standing with the agency before enrolling.

What kind of child care licence does CHILDRENS COMMUNITY CENTER hold?

California licenses CHILDRENS COMMUNITY CENTER as a day care center, a category that covers preschool-age children in a centre-based programme. The category comes from the state's own licence record, not from the provider.

How many children can CHILDRENS COMMUNITY CENTER care for?

CHILDRENS COMMUNITY CENTER is licensed for up to 52 children at one time. Licensed capacity is a ceiling set by the state, not a count of current enrolment or of available places.

How often has California inspected CHILDRENS COMMUNITY CENTER?

California records 2 inspection visits to CHILDRENS COMMUNITY CENTER, the most recent on October 23, 2025 and the earliest on record August 17, 2023. The state publishes the dates of these visits but not what they found, so this count reflects licensing activity, not results. Read the findings themselves in California's own facility search.

Has California visited CHILDRENS COMMUNITY CENTER in response to a complaint?

California records 5 complaint-driven visits to CHILDRENS COMMUNITY CENTER. A complaint visit means someone raised a concern and the state went to look. California does not publish what those visits found, so the count on its own does not say whether any concern was upheld.

Who holds the licence for CHILDRENS COMMUNITY CENTER?

The licence is held by CHILDREN'S COMMUNITY CENTER, INC. California lists the licensee separately from the facility name, so the two often differ. The facility is in Alameda County.
