What California does not publish here

The state publishes when licensing staff visited, not what they found. We do not hold California’s inspection findings, so nothing on this page tells you whether a visit resulted in a citation. A visit count is a measure of licensing activity, and a facility visited more often is not for that reason a worse one. Read the findings in California’s own facility search.

  • All three of my children attended from as early as they could start, we love the CDM family. The level of care, attention, interaction, education, and confidence building is unmatched. Wish they could stay all the way through high school. Great parent community too! Thank you Carol and Julie for all you do.

  • CDM is the best community of parents, teachers, and volunteers. Everyone shows up for the students. I feel great dropping my daughter off for the day which is such a relief compared to previous experiences. The teachers truly love the students and create a safe, loving, inspiring place for the kids to learn about the world and themselves while treating each other with respect.

  • We feel so lucky to have been part of the Country Day Montessori community for the past two years! Both of our children thrived here — they were loved, supported, and challenged in all the best ways. The teachers are incredibly nurturing and truly understand early childhood development. Our kids learned so much during their time here — not just academically, but socially and emotionally, too. They’ve grown into curious, confident, and kind little humans who are more than ready for TK and kindergarten, and we credit so much of that to their Montessori foundation at Country Day. We’ll always be grateful for the calm, joyful environment this school provided and all the beautiful ways it helped shape our kids’ early years. Highly, highly recommend!

  • Our son attended this preschool for three wonderful years, and we couldn't be more grateful for the experience. The teachers are truly amazing—caring, patient, and deeply dedicated to each child’s growth. It’s been such a nurturing and joyful place for our son to learn and thrive. While we’re sad to be moving on, we’re leaving with full hearts and so many happy memories. Thank you for everything!

  • This preschool is Montessori based and absolutely fantastic. The kids are encouraged to work independently on their jobs (Counting beads, letters, pouring, cutting - a lot is considered fun and playing, but there is a more academic basis) but also the older children help out the younger ones. The kids are indoors as well as they spend plenty of side outside (Weather permitting) The staff is incredible - they support the emotional side (let's make some friends, help de-escalate strong emotions, cuddles if needed) teach to the academic side (but it's not intense, they follow the childs lead, and they realize play is a solid foundation of a long school career) Honestly, there is not a school that fits every child. I highly encourage you to take a tour of several Montessori schools (or just preschools in general) and find the for that works for your kids and family. For my son, this was the best fit hands down. The staff is amazing, we couldn't be happier with our decision to go with Country Day.

Questions parents ask about COUNTRY DAY MONTESSORI SCHOOL

Is COUNTRY DAY MONTESSORI SCHOOL a licensed child care provider in California?

Yes. COUNTRY DAY MONTESSORI SCHOOL holds California licence 090303909, currently listed as "LICENSED" by the Department of Social Services, Community Care Licensing Division, first issued on October 24, 1980. Confirm current standing with the agency before enrolling.

What kind of child care licence does COUNTRY DAY MONTESSORI SCHOOL hold?

California licenses COUNTRY DAY MONTESSORI SCHOOL as a day care center, a category that covers preschool-age children in a centre-based programme. The category comes from the state's own licence record, not from the provider.

How many children can COUNTRY DAY MONTESSORI SCHOOL care for?

COUNTRY DAY MONTESSORI SCHOOL is licensed for up to 30 children at one time. Licensed capacity is a ceiling set by the state, not a count of current enrolment or of available places.

How often has California inspected COUNTRY DAY MONTESSORI SCHOOL?

California records 2 inspection visits to COUNTRY DAY MONTESSORI SCHOOL, the most recent on January 22, 2025 and the earliest on record May 9, 2023. The state publishes the dates of these visits but not what they found, so this count reflects licensing activity, not results. Read the findings themselves in California's own facility search.

Has California visited COUNTRY DAY MONTESSORI SCHOOL in response to a complaint?

California records no complaint-driven visits to COUNTRY DAY MONTESSORI SCHOOL. That means no concern prompted a visit on the public record, which is not the same as a clean inspection history: the state does not publish what its visits found.

Who holds the licence for COUNTRY DAY MONTESSORI SCHOOL?

The licence is held by CANAVERO, CAROL. California lists the licensee separately from the facility name, so the two often differ. The facility is in El Dorado County.
