What California does not publish here

The state publishes when licensing staff visited, not what they found. We do not hold California’s inspection findings, so nothing on this page tells you whether a visit resulted in a citation. A visit count is a measure of licensing activity, and a facility visited more often is not for that reason a worse one. Read the findings in California’s own facility search.

  • UPDATED RESPONSE: Since Creative Beginnings chose to publicly respond to my review, I feel it is important to clarify several points. Their response states that staff worked diligently to understand my daughter and collaborated with outside professionals to develop strategies to meet her needs. That was not my experience. Throughout this process, I was the one requesting behavioral observations. I was the one contacting outside resources. I was the one pursuing evaluations. I was the one asking what interventions were being used, what support plans existed, and what strategies were being implemented. What I received, over and over again, were reports describing what my daughter did wrong that day. The response also suggests that nap time was identified as a trigger and that reducing her schedule was done because of that concern. That explanation is surprising because when I directly asked whether mornings versus afternoons were the issue and whether nap time itself was the concern, I was not told that was the reason. Instead, I was simply informed that my daughter could no longer attend a full day program and would need to be picked up at noon. There are also incidents that remain deeply concerning to me, including staff yelling at my daughter, clapping in her face, and an incident in which a teacher spoke so closely to her face that saliva landed on her. When my daughter pointed it out, the teacher repeated the statement and saliva again landed on her. Those experiences were not examples of co-regulation, support, or understanding. Those are examples of escalation. Looking back, I see a child who was struggling and needed support. I also see a system that was far more focused on documenting behavior than understanding it. Every child deserves adults who ask “why is this happening?” before deciding that a child is simply choosing to be difficult. That is the experience our family had, and that is why I shared it. —————————————————— My family entrusted Creative Beginnings with the care of our daughter, and our experience ultimately left us deeply disappointed. Throughout her time there, we received frequent reports about behaviors such as difficulty sitting still, trouble during nap time, refusing directions, and challenges with transitions. What became frustrating was that the communication often focused on what she was doing wrong rather than what supports were being implemented to help her succeed. As parents, we repeatedly asked what interventions were being used, requested behavioral observations, sought positive feedback in addition to incident reports, and worked to collaborate with staff. We were trying to understand the reasons behind the behaviors and find solutions together. Since leaving the program, she has been diagnosed with autism. Looking back at many of the communications we received, I cannot help but wonder whether her behaviors were being viewed primarily as defiance and misconduct rather than possible signs that she needed additional support and understanding. One of the most painful moments was being told that she was the only child in the class who behaved a certain way. As a parent, hearing a young child singled out in that manner was heartbreaking. Rather than increasing support, we were eventually informed that Canon could no longer attend a full day and would need to be picked up at noon. It felt as though the solution was to reduce her participation instead of finding ways to help her succeed in the classroom. I cannot speak to anyone’s intentions, but I can speak to the impact this experience had on our family. We left feeling that our daughter was viewed as a behavioral problem to manage rather than a child trying to navigate challenges that were not yet understood. I hope this review encourages Creative Beginnings to reflect on how they support neurodivergent children and children who struggle differently. Every child deserves patience, compassion, and a genuine effort to understand what is behind the behavior.

  • Best school ever! My two boys attended this school, the staff was so friendly, kids do fun activities and cute crafts. Pool days in the summer are also fun, and of course their creative camp days were amazing. Teachers go above to make long days feel short for the kids. Great communication, parents are inform in advance of shortened days and holidays. We love CB ❤!

Questions parents ask about CREATIVE BEGINNINGS PRESCHOOL

Is CREATIVE BEGINNINGS PRESCHOOL a licensed child care provider in California?

Yes. CREATIVE BEGINNINGS PRESCHOOL holds California licence 198002651, currently listed as "LICENSED" by the Department of Social Services, Community Care Licensing Division, first issued on January 13, 1997. Confirm current standing with the agency before enrolling.

What kind of child care licence does CREATIVE BEGINNINGS PRESCHOOL hold?

California licenses CREATIVE BEGINNINGS PRESCHOOL as a day care center, a category that covers preschool-age children in a centre-based programme. The category comes from the state's own licence record, not from the provider.

How many children can CREATIVE BEGINNINGS PRESCHOOL care for?

CREATIVE BEGINNINGS PRESCHOOL is licensed for up to 99 children at one time. Licensed capacity is a ceiling set by the state, not a count of current enrolment or of available places.

How often has California inspected CREATIVE BEGINNINGS PRESCHOOL?

California records 3 inspection visits to CREATIVE BEGINNINGS PRESCHOOL, the most recent on February 9, 2026 and the earliest on record February 17, 2022. The state publishes the dates of these visits but not what they found, so this count reflects licensing activity, not results. Read the findings themselves in California's own facility search.

Has California visited CREATIVE BEGINNINGS PRESCHOOL in response to a complaint?

California records 4 complaint-driven visits to CREATIVE BEGINNINGS PRESCHOOL. A complaint visit means someone raised a concern and the state went to look. California does not publish what those visits found, so the count on its own does not say whether any concern was upheld.

Who holds the licence for CREATIVE BEGINNINGS PRESCHOOL?

The licence is held by CREATIVE BEGINNINGS SCHOOLS ASSOCIATION. California lists the licensee separately from the facility name, so the two often differ. The facility is in Los Angeles County.
