What California does not publish here
The state publishes when licensing staff visited, not what they found. We do not hold California’s inspection findings, so nothing on this page tells you whether a visit resulted in a citation. A visit count is a measure of licensing activity, and a facility visited more often is not for that reason a worse one. Read the findings in California’s own facility search.

We had a tour in November. We loved the school and especially an outdoor space. I asked about availability, director said that they have an available spot but they are 2 y.o. heavy, so they will need to see my son for a playdate to see if he is ready. To do this we needed to pay 75$ fee to be on the waitlist. We paid, and after that no playdate was organized. At first they said that December is a busy month, so playdate will be organized in the end of January. But in January the ignored my e-mail. Now is March, we started care in another place, just saw the review about non-refundable deposit and decided to share my experience. Of course it’s just 75$ fees, but for our family it’s not a small amount with only one working parent. I am just tired of paying all these fees to potential schools that give you some hope, and then ignore you.
KseniiaMar 12, 2026We submitted a non-refundable deposit to Dig and, within less than 24 hours, realized the school was not the right fit for our daughter. Before the official start date, I was required to do a playdate at the school, which gave me a much clearer sense of the environment than the initial one-hour group orientation. During that playdate, I realized the experience did not feel meaningfully different from being at home with us, and it became clear that this wasn’t the right setting for our child. I immediately reached out to the school multiple times within 24 hours of submitting the deposit to request a refund, noting that our child had not started and had not attended a single day. Unfortunately, the request was denied. My husband and I are local business owners ourselves, and while we also have non-refundable deposit policies, we believe there are situations where flexibility and good faith matter — especially when services haven’t started and a family quickly realizes it’s not a fit. We would never want a client to feel forced into supporting our business if they’re unhappy. I found this experience really disappointing. I’m sharing this so other families are fully aware of the policy and how situations like this are handled before committing.
Sarah NicoleJan 20, 2026If you're in search of a preschool that prioritizes genuine childhood experiences and holistic development, look no further than DIG Childhood Center. Ever since we made the switch from a traditional preschool, the transformation in my son's happiness and social-emotional skills has been remarkable. He eagerly looks forward to each school day—a stark contrast to our previous struggles. What's more, the constant cycle of illnesses that plagued our family has become a distant memory, thanks to DIG's emphasis on outdoor exploration and natural environments. DIG isn't just a school; it's a sanctuary of childhood joys. Watching the children thrive amidst plants, dirt, and trees, guided by caring and dedicated teachers, fills me with gratitude. The curriculum is child-led, play-based, and perfectly tailored to their developmental needs. What sets DIG apart is its transparency and genuine commitment to fostering a supportive community. There are no pretenses here—just compassionate educators who remain consistently supportive and engaged, from morning drop-offs to afternoon pickups. As a parent, I've had the opportunity to participate in the school's parent-provider shifts and attend their invaluable support groups. These experiences have only deepened my appreciation for the nurturing environment DIG provides. With options for TK-aged children, it's not just a preschool; it's a haven for families seeking a genuine educational community. My daughter now shares in the joy of DIG, and as a family, we couldn't be happier. Leaving will be bittersweet, as DIG has become an integral part of our lives—a testament to its exceptional care and dedication to childhood enrichment.
Lindsay LeaverMay 31, 2024Our family absolutely loved DIG! We joined in 2020, and what a time to join a new community with a little 2.5yr old. The teachers were kind and loving, the parent support is incredibly (monthly courses taught by a psychologist) and they helped us through the big transition. We actually bought a house outside of LA and opted to rent it for a year so we could stay for a full year at DIG. We were so sad to leave this community. They have made some changes to make it more feasible for more families like extended hours and optional parent hours. We recommend this preschool and would have loved to have both our children here had we not moved!
Amy Barth SommerlattMay 23, 2024DIG is such an amazing place for young children to grow and learn. The teachers are incredible--truly caring and respectful, and they apply all the latest research on how to foster a growth mindset and encourage social and emotional learning while giving kids room to be kids. It seems like everything I have read and tried to implement at home, DIG is already doing. We did a ton of research on different westside preschools and are so happy we found DIG!
Amy ProctorApr 29, 2024A wonderful community and play based preschool. Teachers are so kind and engaged and have been there for years. Children are treated with respect. The outdoor space has beautiful trees that create a hidden oasis. This is a very special place.

Questions parents ask about DIG CHILDHOOD CENTER
Is DIG CHILDHOOD CENTER a licensed child care provider in California?
- Yes. DIG CHILDHOOD CENTER holds California licence 197493517, currently listed as "LICENSED" by the Department of Social Services, Community Care Licensing Division, first issued on November 17, 2017. Confirm current standing with the agency before enrolling.
What kind of child care licence does DIG CHILDHOOD CENTER hold?
- California licenses DIG CHILDHOOD CENTER as a day care center, a category that covers preschool-age children in a centre-based programme. The category comes from the state's own licence record, not from the provider.
How many children can DIG CHILDHOOD CENTER care for?
- DIG CHILDHOOD CENTER is licensed for up to 36 children at one time. Licensed capacity is a ceiling set by the state, not a count of current enrolment or of available places.
How often has California inspected DIG CHILDHOOD CENTER?
- California records 1 inspection visit to DIG CHILDHOOD CENTER, the most recent on November 2, 2023. The state publishes the dates of these visits but not what they found, so this count reflects licensing activity, not results. Read the findings themselves in California's own facility search.
Has California visited DIG CHILDHOOD CENTER in response to a complaint?
- California records no complaint-driven visits to DIG CHILDHOOD CENTER. That means no concern prompted a visit on the public record, which is not the same as a clean inspection history: the state does not publish what its visits found.
Who holds the licence for DIG CHILDHOOD CENTER?
- The licence is held by VENICE PARENTS DAYCARE & PRESCHOOL. California lists the licensee separately from the facility name, so the two often differ. The facility is in Los Angeles County.
