What California does not publish here

The state publishes when licensing staff visited, not what they found. We do not hold California’s inspection findings, so nothing on this page tells you whether a visit resulted in a citation. A visit count is a measure of licensing activity, and a facility visited more often is not for that reason a worse one. Read the findings in California’s own facility search.

  • With lots of research and nervousness, I was sending my first born to preschool for the first time and I wanted a safe and fun environment for her to blossom. I am so grateful that this journey led us to Discovery. Our daughter started there with two days a week and she was in love with school. She really blossomed as a community member and learned many social skills required for school. With recommendation and the ability to observe, we enrolled our daughter in the 5 day TK program. I was hesitant that I may have overwhelmed her with too much school, but I am amazed at the growth my daughter has made this year. Miss. Laura really provides them with the guidance, encouragement, and ability to learn at their own comfort. Our daughter has learned letter names/sounds, numbers (as well as adding/subtracting), literature (fiction/non-fiction), and how to be a student. As a teacher myself, I see the requirements and standards our children are being held to in public school, and with the help of Miss Laura, I have no doubt that my daughter is ready. I have always felt comfortable dropping her off and she truly enjoys all of the after school opportunities Mrs. Maria (the director) enthusiastically provides (math, art, dance, gym). As a full-time working mother of two, my daughter is able to participate in art, math, and dance classes without extra work and effort from me. All of the staff truly love these kids, you will be lucky to have your children attend Discovery. Thank you staff for the head start for my daughter!

  • It would be difficult to describe what a special place Discovery preschool is. Everything about it is exceptional. I first found out about Discovery when my oldest started Kindergarten. I overheard some other parents talking about the preschool their children had attended and it sounded amazing. At the time, my middle son was having a hard time at his preschool and my husband and I were looking to make a change. We toured Discovery and enrolled him that day. He started the 2 day program and he felt at home immediately. He had Ms. Laura and Ms. Cathie, although the way the rooms are set up, the children are encouraged to roam and explore and mingle with other kids and teachers at certain times of the day. I love this because it gives them a chance to move around and be independent in a confined space. They can mix with kids not in their "class" and also with teachers that are not technically their own. My son had an exceptional year. The following year I enrolled him in the 5-day PreK program, again with Ms. Laura who took over as the 5-day teacher. First of all, I was so thrilled she was my son's teacher again because he and I both adore her. Secondly, her classroom is full of PLAY where kids learn through play and it's a safe, secure, warm, and caring environment. The work Ms. Laura did to get my son and his classmates ready for Kindergarten was beyond anything I could have imagined. By the end of the year he knew all of his letters, 21 sight words and counting so many numbers. Honestly, I just wanted him to have fun and enjoy his day at school; get messy, run around, etc. He did all of that and more. My youngest son is now in the 2 day program with Ms. Roxy and Ms. Susan and he absolutely LOVES it. He is disappointed when he doesn't get to go to school and I know he is going to have an amazing time in the 5-day program next year. Neither of us can wait! Everyone that is a part of Discovery--the Director, Ms. Maria, all three teachers and the aides, all care so much about the kids. It is hands down the best place to be for my children and I am so happy we found it.

  • Exceed our expectations! The best choice for our son, by far!

  • This is our second time around at Discovery Preschool, and we still love it so much. My daughter went here for two years, and my son is midway through his first year there as well. This is a school that just oozes love for your child. It is a very small school (3 classrooms, 6 teachers plus the Director) so it is very intimate and every single teacher gets to know and interact with every child. It's a developmental, play-based school so most of the day is spent playing and exploring with a little arts and crafts and ABCs thrown in too. Each day begins with circle time, there are 3 different play times (indoor and outdoor) with directed one-on-one time with the teacher during one of the play times where the kids do an art project, work on their name, do a fun pattern activity, etc. My favorite part of the day is "room to roam" which is when the kids can "roam" on the back patio play area between all three classrooms and decide in which classroom or activity they want to participate. On top of the nurturing environment, holiday programs, small local field trips and after school enrichment activities round out the child's day. It is a gem of a school and I'm so thankful that my children have been a part of it :)
