Licensing visits on record

California records 0 routine inspection visits and no visits prompted by a complaint to DOLPHIN STARS CHILDCARE, INC.

What California does not publish here

The state publishes when licensing staff visited, not what they found. We do not hold California’s inspection findings, so nothing on this page tells you whether a visit resulted in a citation. A visit count is a measure of licensing activity, and a facility visited more often is not for that reason a worse one. Read the findings in California’s own facility search.

  • Our 12mo has been going for a few weeks now. She really loves it! Jiayu, Tommy and Liu ayi take great care of her and share a lot of pictures daily. They have a lot of activities both indoors and outdoors. We’re couldn’t be happier about our choices.

  • A heartfelt endorsement for Liu Ayi, Tommy, and Jiayu at Dolphin Stars. Our connection to Dolphin Stars began with Liu Ayi, who was our daughter’s nanny starting at 8 months old. Though she was with us for just a year (she would have stayed longer if she hadn’t become a grandmother herself), we've remained close to her and her family for over five years—a testament to the deep bond and trust she built with us. Her warmth, dedication, and thoughtful approach to child-rearing left a lasting impact on our family. She now brings that same care and sensibility to Dolphin Stars. Her daughter Jiayu and son-in-law Tommy run Dolphin Stars and have thoughtfully shaped it using their experience from respected institutions—Tommy, with a master’s in Early Childhood Education, draws from his time at Cypress School of San Francisco (formerly Cow Hollow Preschool), and Jiayu from her years at Little Footprints. They’ve brought the best of what they’ve learned into Dolphin Stars, creating a Mandarin immersion program rooted in play-based learning, social and emotional development, and genuine care Our daughter, now five, does drop-ins at Dolphin Stars during school holidays and breaks (she’s currently at Presidio Knolls) and always comes home happy, engaged, and cared for. Even though the current cohort skews younger, Tommy and Jiayu are thoughtful in finding engaging activities and providing learning opportunities to ensure she's challenged. When Liu Ayi transitioned out in 2021, we toured 13 childcare centers across the city. Most felt like businesses disguised by buzzwords and branding. Having gone through the search and from first hand experience, by contrast, Dolphin Stars feels grounded and personal. Tommy and Jiayu are not only skilled educators, they’re intuitive and open communicators. Their work reflects genuine care and a deep understanding of what children and families need. A true parenting partnership.

  • Our 6mo has been attending Dolphin Stars for a couple months and loves it! We get daily updates and photos on his activities and Tommy the director and the team are so knowledgeable about helping the littles grow and develop. They have been so patient and kind with my little guy and he is so happy to be there every day! Love the trips to the park and library during nice weather as well! Highly recommend!

  • We love dolphin stars! We love the focus on play based learning and the regular trips to the park and library are a plus. The teachers share frequent daily updates and photos and each day is full of fun and educational activities. Our son comes home from school every day happy and well fed. So happy we found dolphin stars!

  • My son has been attending Dolphin Stars for a few weeks now. We get detailed daily reports with so many photos that help us feel connected even though we can’t be there. The director, Tommy, has been incredibly communicative and attentive to our needs as parents. I wish the location was less busy, but the quality of care is so good that im recommending them to my friends and family.

  • We just finished a tour of this childcare center. It’s run by a couple who are both child development educators. Fast response time, fair pricing for SF! A great place for kids to grow up in. We’re currently in the process of enrolling for a summer start time! Would definitely recommend :)
