What California does not publish here
The state publishes when licensing staff visited, not what they found. We do not hold California’s inspection findings, so nothing on this page tells you whether a visit resulted in a citation. A visit count is a measure of licensing activity, and a facility visited more often is not for that reason a worse one. Read the findings in California’s own facility search.

I really wish we had the same great experience that so many other families had, but unfortunately we didn’t. My son did not do well here. Shortly after he started attending , a child hit him in the eye with a medal pot, leaving a large knot near his eye. I was never called or told about the incident until I went to pick him up, even though it could have been a serious injury. When I brought it up, the teacher told me that my son had been hitting other kids too. It honestly felt like they were trying to excuse what happened instead of taking responsibility. The strange part is my son has never had problems hitting other children before attending this school and after leaving it. It made me feel like he may have been copying the behavior he was seeing around him. I also saw things myself that concerned me. One day I walked into the classroom and saw a little girl punching another child in the back of the head. The final straw for me was when I picked my son up one day and found him sitting alone in the sandbox crying. He pointed to a much bigger child and told me that child had hit him in the stomach. When I asked the teachers on the playground what happened, they were clueless. A few seconds later without finishing the conversation they had to run after a few other children who were heading toward a side gate that opens up easily to the parking lot. I know every family’s experience is different, and this was just ours. Thankfully, my son is now at a different school where he is extremely happy & thriving at. The teachers & kids are kind and respectful, and he actually looks forward to going to school every day. Changing schools was the best decision for our family. We really wanted to like Fortune but it was not a good fit for us.
Dez DJul 28, 2026I recommend Fortune to people because I like the way it’s structured. My boys enjoy their time there, especially in excursions because they get to do special projects. Mr. Atkins is an involved principal and does not take any nonsense. I appreciate his attitude and willingness to correct bad behavior.
Martha AguilarApr 25, 2026My cousin goes there and he made lots of friends and they always take good care of him so send your kids here
Adam AbdelnabiDec 4, 2025I recommend Fortune Preschool. My experience overall has been positive. My son really likes it there, the staff have been great, caring, loving, and educational. Any concerns I had were addressed. Their pricing is also better than all the other sites. I felt good with my son being there and safe. I'm not sure why the other reviewer gave them a 1 when it sounds like they don't even have a child at the school. He's complaining about the driving which by the way, it's a whole school here not just a Preschool so you can't give a 1 to a Preschool for how parents drive which is primarily folks from the school and I see this same issue with all the schools my kids have gone too, elementary, middle and high school, college too, they're annoying. But the actual Preschool is definitely worth checking out and seeing if it's the right fit for your child, it was for mine.

Questions parents ask about FORTUNE PRESCHOOL
Is FORTUNE PRESCHOOL a licensed child care provider in California?
- Yes. FORTUNE PRESCHOOL holds California licence 344500446, currently listed as "LICENSED" by the Department of Social Services, Community Care Licensing Division, first issued on April 7, 2022. Confirm current standing with the agency before enrolling.
What kind of child care licence does FORTUNE PRESCHOOL hold?
- California licenses FORTUNE PRESCHOOL as a day care center, a category that covers preschool-age children in a centre-based programme. The category comes from the state's own licence record, not from the provider.
How many children can FORTUNE PRESCHOOL care for?
- FORTUNE PRESCHOOL is licensed for up to 84 children at one time. Licensed capacity is a ceiling set by the state, not a count of current enrolment or of available places.
How often has California inspected FORTUNE PRESCHOOL?
- California records 2 inspection visits to FORTUNE PRESCHOOL, the most recent on May 11, 2026 and the earliest on record April 11, 2023. The state publishes the dates of these visits but not what they found, so this count reflects licensing activity, not results. Read the findings themselves in California's own facility search.
Has California visited FORTUNE PRESCHOOL in response to a complaint?
- California records 5 complaint-driven visits to FORTUNE PRESCHOOL. A complaint visit means someone raised a concern and the state went to look. California does not publish what those visits found, so the count on its own does not say whether any concern was upheld.
Who holds the licence for FORTUNE PRESCHOOL?
- The licence is held by REX & MARGARET FORTUNE SCHOOL OF EDUCATION. California lists the licensee separately from the facility name, so the two often differ. The facility is in Sacramento County.
