Licensing visits on record
California records 0 routine inspection visits and 1 complaint visit to HOOVER CHILDREN'S CENTER.
What California does not publish here
The state publishes when licensing staff visited, not what they found. We do not hold California’s inspection findings, so nothing on this page tells you whether a visit resulted in a citation. A visit count is a measure of licensing activity, and a facility visited more often is not for that reason a worse one. Read the findings in California’s own facility search.

Hoover WAS a great pre school. My first born was made ready for kindergarten with a great mix of play and learning. Her teachers made sure she learned about responsibility, accountability, being kind, and all. That was 7 years ago. Because of the previous great experience, I also enrolled my second child here. It was great and my child is on the same path as her older sibling until there was a change of ownership late 2016. Tuition was at $1245 but new owners decided they needed more money asap so we were given a month's notice that new tuition will now be $1495! No notice of management improvements, no new or enhanced services or facilities, no new initiatives that will somehow allay the parents' shock at the very sudden increase. It is all just about the money. One great thing was they had their own washer/dryer which allows them to quickly do laundry in case children's sleep sheets or somethings gets messed up. Their decades-old machine decided to break down on the new owners and they decided to not offer this convenience anymore as the one-time $500 will cut into the profits. (You would think that the $250/month/child increase can somehow cover for that.) And recently, they got a surprise visit from the regulatory board and got called out for a violation. (Cutting corners again?) Hoover WAS a great pre school. Things have changed however and I am glad that we are moving on to kindergarten. I am not comfortable in placing my child any longer in a place owned by people who could not care less about the students. Teachers are great but with a management like this, I am pretty sure they are going to be leaving soon.

Questions parents ask about HOOVER CHILDREN'S CENTER
Is HOOVER CHILDREN'S CENTER a licensed child care provider in California?
- Yes. HOOVER CHILDREN'S CENTER holds California licence 414002176, currently listed as "CLOSED" by the Department of Social Services, Community Care Licensing Division, first issued on March 1, 2007. Confirm current standing with the agency before enrolling.
What kind of child care licence does HOOVER CHILDREN'S CENTER hold?
- California licenses HOOVER CHILDREN'S CENTER as a day care center, a category that covers preschool-age children in a centre-based programme. The category comes from the state's own licence record, not from the provider.
How many children can HOOVER CHILDREN'S CENTER care for?
- HOOVER CHILDREN'S CENTER is licensed for up to 45 children at one time. Licensed capacity is a ceiling set by the state, not a count of current enrolment or of available places.
Has California visited HOOVER CHILDREN'S CENTER in response to a complaint?
- California records 1 complaint-driven visit to HOOVER CHILDREN'S CENTER. A complaint visit means someone raised a concern and the state went to look. California does not publish what those visits found, so the count on its own does not say whether any concern was upheld.
Who holds the licence for HOOVER CHILDREN'S CENTER?
- The licence is held by PENINSULA CHILDCARE CENTERS, INC.. California lists the licensee separately from the facility name, so the two often differ. The facility is in San Mateo County.
