What California does not publish here

The state publishes when licensing staff visited, not what they found. We do not hold California’s inspection findings, so nothing on this page tells you whether a visit resulted in a citation. A visit count is a measure of licensing activity, and a facility visited more often is not for that reason a worse one. Read the findings in California’s own facility search.

Recent parent reviews

  • My name is Leeah Pogues and I have two daughters, ages 6 and 4. I’m writing this review to share my honest experience with Ladera Heights Prep Development Center so other parents can make informed decisions. During the time my children attended, I had to address multiple concerns with the provider about raising her voice and yelling at my kids. I brought this up on several occasions because my children consistently expressed feeling uncomfortable and upset. Each time I tried to communicate, my concerns were dismissed or minimized. The situation became more concerning when my 6-year-old shared that she was being yelled at while trying to understand her math work. Instead of being helped with patience, she was told to go play after expressing that she didn’t understand. That is not the type of learning or emotional environment I want for my children. When I continued to advocate for my kids, I was made to feel like I was the problem for bringing it up. Because of this, I made the decision to terminate services. After ending care, I was informed that the provider told my childcare program (Crystal Stairs) that she was concerned about my well-being. I strongly feel this was said out of frustration because I chose to remove my children, and it was both inappropriate and untrue. As a parent, I take my children’s voices seriously. They deserve to feel safe, respected, and supported especially in a learning environment. I encourage other parents to pay close attention to how their children feel and to trust their instincts. This was my experience, and I hope it helps someone else.

  • My daughter has been attending since she was 18 months old, and she’s now 3 years old. I truly appreciate the owner and the care she provides. My daughter has learned so much—she’s speaking clearly, recognizing numbers, shapes, and more. The owner is incredibly sweet and attentive, treating every child as if they were her own. Having my daughter here gives me peace of mind while I’m at work, knowing she’s in a safe and nurturing environment. I’m so grateful I found this place and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a childcare center that prioritizes children’s education and growth.

Questions parents ask about LADERA HEIGHTS PREP. DEVELOPMENT CENTER

Is LADERA HEIGHTS PREP. DEVELOPMENT CENTER a licensed child care provider in California?

Yes. LADERA HEIGHTS PREP. DEVELOPMENT CENTER holds California licence 197412063, currently listed as "LICENSED" by the Department of Social Services, Community Care Licensing Division, first issued on October 5, 2005. Confirm current standing with the agency before enrolling.

What kind of child care licence does LADERA HEIGHTS PREP. DEVELOPMENT CENTER hold?

California licenses LADERA HEIGHTS PREP. DEVELOPMENT CENTER as a day care center, a category that covers preschool-age children in a centre-based programme. The category comes from the state's own licence record, not from the provider.

How many children can LADERA HEIGHTS PREP. DEVELOPMENT CENTER care for?

LADERA HEIGHTS PREP. DEVELOPMENT CENTER is licensed for up to 15 children at one time. Licensed capacity is a ceiling set by the state, not a count of current enrolment or of available places.

How often has California inspected LADERA HEIGHTS PREP. DEVELOPMENT CENTER?

California records 2 inspection visits to LADERA HEIGHTS PREP. DEVELOPMENT CENTER, the most recent on October 14, 2025 and the earliest on record March 22, 2024. The state publishes the dates of these visits but not what they found, so this count reflects licensing activity, not results. Read the findings themselves in California's own facility search.

Has California visited LADERA HEIGHTS PREP. DEVELOPMENT CENTER in response to a complaint?

California records no complaint-driven visits to LADERA HEIGHTS PREP. DEVELOPMENT CENTER. That means no concern prompted a visit on the public record, which is not the same as a clean inspection history: the state does not publish what its visits found.

Who holds the licence for LADERA HEIGHTS PREP. DEVELOPMENT CENTER?

The licence is held by SWARNA DE ALWIS. California lists the licensee separately from the facility name, so the two often differ. The facility is in Los Angeles County.
