What California does not publish here
The state publishes when licensing staff visited, not what they found. We do not hold California’s inspection findings, so nothing on this page tells you whether a visit resulted in a citation. A visit count is a measure of licensing activity, and a facility visited more often is not for that reason a worse one. Read the findings in California’s own facility search.

We love Little Shepherd’s! I did the parent-tot program with my now 5 year old back in 2021 and I’m back now with my 2 year old. All of the staff is fantastic, it’s warm, nurturing and a very wholesome environment! My son loves all the activities and it’s thoughtfully put together by Miss Chris with child development at the focus. I love how gentle they are and they truly love what they do. I highly recommend to everyone with little ones :)
Laura PuriFeb 28, 2025Me and my 2-year-old daughter enrolled in the spring Parent Tot Program and was planning on enrolling in the fall preschool. During the first day of the program, I made sure to express a few concerns I had. One of them had to do with the swings on the playground. I told the staff my daughter was still learning to balance and couldn’t swing alone. During the last 15 minutes of the second session when parents and children were separated, I witnessed a teacher’s aide pick up my daughter, put her on a big-girl swing, and give her a big push. My daughter flew off the swing, did a flip in the air, and landed facedown. I ran quickly to be with my daughter, took her home, and called the pediatrician. The doctor advised to monitor her for a concussion. There was no attempt from anyone at the school to reach out to me and check on the well-being of my daughter. The next day I had to call the school to speak with the co-director Chris, who was present when this incident happened. When I finally spoke to Chris, she downplayed what had happened saying “it’s not uncommon for kids to have accidents like trips and falls”. This type of attitude regarding safety especially in the hands of the teacher’s aide was extremely concerning to us and we immediately withdrew from the program. I called Social Services licensing to file an incident report; however, since she’s enrolled in the Parent Tot Program and not the preschool, a report cannot be filed.
TammiApr 29, 2024I am so glad that my daughter got the chance to attend Little Shepherd’s nursery school. From the start, the teachers and staff have been so caring and patient and helped my daughter, who is very shy, to adjust to going to school. I also got regular updates and pictures through an app and it was very easy to keep in contact with the teachers and staff this way. Now, after 7 months at Little Shepherd’s, my daughter has become so talkative and social, and I strongly believe it’s all because of the wonderful teachers and staff at Little Shepherd’s. My daughter really enjoys her classes with Ms. Susan and Ms. Avia. Also, Ms. Dawn, the office manager, is amazing and she has always been available to answer all my questions. I would 100% recommend Little Shepherd’s to any parents who are looking for a good school to send their young children.
Connie LAug 8, 2023We love Little Shepherds! Warm staff, small class sizes, overall great atmosphere for littles. Can’t recommend enough.
Valerie PitaloMar 28, 2023This is a wonderful place! They really care about the kids and their overall development. This place gives kids stability and provides a nurturing environment. All the staff is truly amazing, they have been teaching there for years and love what they do. It was the best decision to send my little one here. The only thing, I wish they would have full day options.
Mili P.Jan 7, 2022This is a fantastic preschool, with warm teachers, a beautiful play yard with enormous old trees, and a real community feel. I have sent both of my children there. I wish they taught k-6 grade too!

Questions parents ask about LITTLE SHEPHERD'S NURSERY SCHOOL
Is LITTLE SHEPHERD'S NURSERY SCHOOL a licensed child care provider in California?
- Yes. LITTLE SHEPHERD'S NURSERY SCHOOL holds California licence 191201916, currently listed as "LICENSED" by the Department of Social Services, Community Care Licensing Division, first issued on February 1, 1996. Confirm current standing with the agency before enrolling.
What kind of child care licence does LITTLE SHEPHERD'S NURSERY SCHOOL hold?
- California licenses LITTLE SHEPHERD'S NURSERY SCHOOL as a day care center, a category that covers preschool-age children in a centre-based programme. The category comes from the state's own licence record, not from the provider.
How many children can LITTLE SHEPHERD'S NURSERY SCHOOL care for?
- LITTLE SHEPHERD'S NURSERY SCHOOL is licensed for up to 33 children at one time. Licensed capacity is a ceiling set by the state, not a count of current enrolment or of available places.
How often has California inspected LITTLE SHEPHERD'S NURSERY SCHOOL?
- California records 3 inspection visits to LITTLE SHEPHERD'S NURSERY SCHOOL, the most recent on September 24, 2025 and the earliest on record June 7, 2023. The state publishes the dates of these visits but not what they found, so this count reflects licensing activity, not results. Read the findings themselves in California's own facility search.
Has California visited LITTLE SHEPHERD'S NURSERY SCHOOL in response to a complaint?
- California records no complaint-driven visits to LITTLE SHEPHERD'S NURSERY SCHOOL. That means no concern prompted a visit on the public record, which is not the same as a clean inspection history: the state does not publish what its visits found.
Who holds the licence for LITTLE SHEPHERD'S NURSERY SCHOOL?
- The licence is held by LITTLE SHERPHERD'S NURSERY SCHOOL. California lists the licensee separately from the facility name, so the two often differ. The facility is in Los Angeles County.
