Licensing visits on record

California records 0 routine inspection visits and no visits prompted by a complaint to LITTLE SUNFLOWERS.

What California does not publish here

The state publishes when licensing staff visited, not what they found. We do not hold California’s inspection findings, so nothing on this page tells you whether a visit resulted in a citation. A visit count is a measure of licensing activity, and a facility visited more often is not for that reason a worse one. Read the findings in California’s own facility search.

  • It's hard to explain how much we love Johnny and Catrina. Their daycare feels like an extension of our home, with a wonderful culture that promotes the kids' explorations, imagination, and learning. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for local childcare.

  • We have loved Little Sunflowers! It is clear that this family has a special talent for raising up happy, well-adjusted, responsible, and creative people. Our son has been attending this year and I’m continually impressed by the amount of enrichment activities that Catrina, Johnny, and Deltrina have for the kids - from art projects, to neighborhood walks, to special restaurant visits, to playing with educational toys, and interacting with the bunny Boba! We feel so safe dropping our son off every day. The team is communicative and shares updates every day in person or through brightwheel - notes on how our son are/slept, what he has been learning, how he is interacting with the other kiddos. They are clearly having fun and learning along the way. The family has also given us advice for how to tackle some of our parenting questions at home. Finally, Deltrina (the founder of the Litrle People’s Academies) plans regular meet ups for parents and kids to help foster community. Couldn’t recommend Little Sunflowers more!

  • What a great place for the little ones! Johnny and Catrina have created the most happy and secure environment in a home setting; plus they work at engaging the children in stimulating and learning activities. Johnny's 10 years of experience as a preschool administrator prepared him to execute his vision, when he and Catrina created their own preschool; Catrina's training as a school learning specialist and aide in the public schools brings breadth and creativity to their program. As the grandma of one of the students, who has attended since February, I can see the kind of learning that happens during play and experiences. Field trips are several times per week to the public library, the local beautiful Diamond Park, a treat to go to a restaurant, and visits to interesting places around the area. The children are exposed to a wide variety of foods and they are often prepared by the children with adult supervision. All learning doesn't take place within 4 walls and these lovely people have made the walls moveable and inclusive. It is a joy to see these children developing in this setting.

  • We sent our 4-year-old to Johnny and Catrina’s winter camp in December 2024, and he had such a great time! Johnny and Catrina are amazing with kids—they’re parents themselves, so they really get it. The house is super clean, there’s a big outdoor space for the kids to run around, and the activities were perfect for his age. Oh! And they provide great food!! Highly recommend their preschool to anyone!

  • Johnny & Catrina are a delight to work with! We are so excited for their program opening in 2025. They did an amazing job managing the well-known Boulevard Little People Academy for over 10+ years, and we are so happy that families in the Dimond district will have an incredible new place for their little ones to learn and thrive at Little Sunflowers Academy!

Questions parents ask about LITTLE SUNFLOWERS

Is LITTLE SUNFLOWERS a licensed child care provider in California?

Yes. LITTLE SUNFLOWERS holds California licence 013423758, currently listed as "CLOSED" by the Department of Social Services, Community Care Licensing Division. Confirm current standing with the agency before enrolling.

What kind of child care licence does LITTLE SUNFLOWERS hold?

California licenses LITTLE SUNFLOWERS as a day care center, a category that covers preschool-age children in a centre-based programme. The category comes from the state's own licence record, not from the provider.

How many children can LITTLE SUNFLOWERS care for?

LITTLE SUNFLOWERS is licensed for up to 14 children at one time. Licensed capacity is a ceiling set by the state, not a count of current enrolment or of available places.

Has California visited LITTLE SUNFLOWERS in response to a complaint?

California records no complaint-driven visits to LITTLE SUNFLOWERS. That means no concern prompted a visit on the public record, which is not the same as a clean inspection history: the state does not publish what its visits found.

Who holds the licence for LITTLE SUNFLOWERS?

The licence is held by JOHNNY JOHNSON III. California lists the licensee separately from the facility name, so the two often differ. The facility is in Alameda County.
