Licensing visits on record

California records 0 routine inspection visits and no visits prompted by a complaint to MONTESSORI SCHOOLHOUSE.

What California does not publish here

The state publishes when licensing staff visited, not what they found. We do not hold California’s inspection findings, so nothing on this page tells you whether a visit resulted in a citation. A visit count is a measure of licensing activity, and a facility visited more often is not for that reason a worse one. Read the findings in California’s own facility search.

  • This is my daughter’s first time away from me and I was so nervous, but Sarah (the owner) made us feel safe and welcomed. We love that they keep us in the loop throughout the day with pictures! My favorite time. We are so happy we chose Montessori Schoolhouse!💗 we look forward to continuing working with them

  • When we first enrolled our daughter she was only going two days a week, but we quickly noticed a big difference in her behavior, curiosity, and especially her talking. Now just about two months later, I can actually have real conversations with her, which wasn’t the case before, and that really says a lot about this school. The staff is very kind and easy to talk to, and they do a great job keeping us updated. We love that they upload photos almost every day because it’s something we look forward to seeing. The activities and themes they do are fun, and our fridge is now full of all the arts and crafts she brings home. Ms. Naomi is great and always communicates with us, and the Director, Ms. Sara, has been super helpful since the beginning and is always understanding whenever something comes up. The school is in a nice location and I always feel safe dropping my daughter off. I also really like the app they use because it makes everything easy and keeps us connected. Lunch isn’t provided, but we actually like that since we can pack food we know our daughter will enjoy. Overall, we’ve had a really great experience and I’d definitely give it a 5/5 and recommend it to other parents.

  • Sarah and her team (Diana, Karla, Naomi) are the most amazing caretakers and teachers. Our daughter started with MSH in January and felt comfortable there right away. She’s now 26 months old and has been learning so much, it’s unbelievable: numbers, letters, days of the week, months of the year. She loves to tell us where the abdomen and thorax are on her bug toys, or that a caterpillar goes into a chrysalis and becomes a “butterfly ready to fly”, or that the earth goes around the sun. The MSH team is truly special — calm and caring while being amazing educators.

  • Our family is so pleased to have found this school and the amazing group of teachers. For bilingual Spanish preschool to age 5 education in Poway, or really anywhere in North County and inland San Diego, the options are limited and extremely competitive. We believe firmly in bilingual education for a multitude of reasons, robust development of a child’s brain, exposure to other cultures, worlds and beliefs, and the ability to communicate across the world with languages like Spanish. Finding Sarah, the owner of the school and her team was serendipity. I had been googling bilingual schools in Poway and North County area for several weeks and the algorithm finally jumped in to help with a social media ad for a NEW school! We asked for 100% Spanish immersion, but I think that 50% may be another option for families. Our child is thriving at the school and the professionalism and caring nature of the teachers is authentic. We actually came to tour the school out of curiosity, planning for next year, and within a short time, knew we wanted her to be a part of the school right away. Montessori education is tricky in that the world “Montessori” is not trademarked and anyone can use it and say it’s “inspired” by Montessori. For this reason, I had my questions answered about current and ongoing Montessori certification for the school and teachers (a non negotiable for me- and I prefer AMS Accreditation). I’m very passionate about what the school is doing to enhance a true Montessori education with bilingual Spanish immersion.

  • A truly special Montessori school — nurturing, structured, and inspiring. We feel incredibly lucky to have found Montessori Schoolhouse when our daughter was just two years old. From the very beginning, she absolutely loved being there — and as parents, we felt the same. The warmth, structure, and intentionality of the program helped our daughter thrive. She learned to read by age three, developed strong social and emotional skills, and grew deeply curious about the world around her. Miss Sarah has created something truly special. Her curriculum fosters independence, empathy, and a real love for learning. She was always available — whether by message or phone call — and her communication gave us so much peace of mind. Though we were sad when the school moved to its new location in Poway, we are so happy for Miss Sarah and her new chapter. Montessori Schoolhouse is one of a kind, and we’re forever grateful to have been part of the school community. ♡ Gloria

Questions parents ask about MONTESSORI SCHOOLHOUSE

Is MONTESSORI SCHOOLHOUSE a licensed child care provider in California?

Yes. MONTESSORI SCHOOLHOUSE holds California licence 376105224, currently listed as "LICENSED" by the Department of Social Services, Community Care Licensing Division, first issued on October 29, 2025. Confirm current standing with the agency before enrolling.

What kind of child care licence does MONTESSORI SCHOOLHOUSE hold?

California licenses MONTESSORI SCHOOLHOUSE as a single licensed child care center, a category that covers infant, preschool and school-age care under a single licence. The category comes from the state's own licence record, not from the provider.

How many children can MONTESSORI SCHOOLHOUSE care for?

MONTESSORI SCHOOLHOUSE is licensed for up to 44 children at one time. Licensed capacity is a ceiling set by the state, not a count of current enrolment or of available places.

Has California visited MONTESSORI SCHOOLHOUSE in response to a complaint?

California records no complaint-driven visits to MONTESSORI SCHOOLHOUSE. That means no concern prompted a visit on the public record, which is not the same as a clean inspection history: the state does not publish what its visits found.

Who holds the licence for MONTESSORI SCHOOLHOUSE?

The licence is held by MONTESSORI SCHOOLHOUSE OF SAN DIEGO LLC. California lists the licensee separately from the facility name, so the two often differ. The facility is in San Diego County.
