What California does not publish here

The state publishes when licensing staff visited, not what they found. We do not hold California’s inspection findings, so nothing on this page tells you whether a visit resulted in a citation. A visit count is a measure of licensing activity, and a facility visited more often is not for that reason a worse one. Read the findings in California’s own facility search.

  • Montessori Shir Hashirim is truly a magical place. As an educator with a degree in education, I’m incredibly particular about the environment and teaching philosophy I want for my child—and MSH has exceeded every expectation. Their Montessori approach aligns perfectly with my own beliefs about how children learn best: through hands-on exploration, self-direction, and deep conceptual understanding. Since starting at MSH, my daughter has absolutely thrived. She’s blossomed in reading, math, and beyond—not just memorizing facts, but truly understanding what she’s learning. She comes home telling me things I didn’t even know, and it’s clear that her curiosity is being nurtured every single day. Perhaps the most beautiful transformation has been her confidence. She went from being a quiet, shy girl to someone who is now the most talkative and self-assured child in the room. It’s incredible to witness. She adores her teachers, and it’s obvious the feeling is mutual—they genuinely see and celebrate each child for who they are. MSH is more than just a school; it’s a nurturing, inspiring community that brings out the very best in children. I feel so lucky to have found this gem for our family.

  • While I have always like this school, the reality is that this school has taught me what a school experience should be. Each morning, my youngest song wakes up, excited to go to school, reviewing what he hopes will happen that day, and what his favorite parts of the previous day were. I'm sure this is not normal for most kids. If it's a day off, he spends at least part of the day trying to recreate what would have happened at school, using me, his brother, and the family dog as his classmates. He feels safe and secure and loved, as much there as he does at home while at the same time, he is learning to share, cooperate, and contribute to a large community of peers and adults. We're thankful that MSH is his school and I am determined to have every every educational experience a positive one.

  • My daughter attended Montessori Shir-Hashirim for 3 years. She LOVED it. The school is truly amazing. It has fabulous teachers, a smart, focused curriculum, a director who is present and oversees everything and helps kids love to learn. My daughter left this preschool incredibly well-prepared for kindergarten. Elena, the owner/director is an experienced, passionate educator who truly loves educating kids in the Montessori method. The school is clean, well-managed, safe and serves healthy snacks. My daughter flourished there. I highly recommend this school! And, if you want your kid to attend a private elementary school, Elena is not only well-connected with admissions directors at top schools, but is very knowledgeable about the admissions process. My daughter was accepted everywhere we applied and so were numerous other families.

  • We have had three kids attend this preschool -- we couldn't be happier! They love going to school every day and come home and surprise us with the fun and interesting things they learn. One day it's the latest ballet move - the next day is counting in Chinese! The teachers are dedicated, caring and inspiring. We wouldn't change a thing.

Yes. MONTESSORI SHIR-HASHIRIM holds California licence 191804468, currently listed as "LICENSED" by the Department of Social Services, Community Care Licensing Division, first issued on January 9, 1991. Confirm current standing with the agency before enrolling.

What kind of child care licence does MONTESSORI SHIR-HASHIRIM hold?

California licenses MONTESSORI SHIR-HASHIRIM as a day care center, a category that covers preschool-age children in a centre-based programme. The category comes from the state's own licence record, not from the provider.

How many children can MONTESSORI SHIR-HASHIRIM care for?

MONTESSORI SHIR-HASHIRIM is licensed for up to 43 children at one time. Licensed capacity is a ceiling set by the state, not a count of current enrolment or of available places.

How often has California inspected MONTESSORI SHIR-HASHIRIM?

California records 3 inspection visits to MONTESSORI SHIR-HASHIRIM, the most recent on December 19, 2025 and the earliest on record February 1, 2023. Has California visited MONTESSORI SHIR-HASHIRIM in response to a complaint?

California records no complaint-driven visits to MONTESSORI SHIR-HASHIRIM. That means no concern prompted a visit on the public record, which is not the same as a clean inspection history: the state does not publish what its visits found.

Who holds the licence for MONTESSORI SHIR-HASHIRIM?

The licence is held by CIELAK, ELENA. California lists the licensee separately from the facility name, so the two often differ. The facility is in Los Angeles County.
