What California does not publish here

The state publishes when licensing staff visited, not what they found. We do not hold California’s inspection findings, so nothing on this page tells you whether a visit resulted in a citation. A visit count is a measure of licensing activity, and a facility visited more often is not for that reason a worse one. Read the findings in California’s own facility search.

  • My son started attending Morningstar Montessori Preschool in January 2025. We had relocated from the Bay Area, where he had been attending another Montessori-inspired preschool. Leaving that school was the hardest aspect of relocating and finding another school he loved and that we felt comfortable with was our number one priority. It was an easy transition and he loved it immediately. He seems to enjoy the outdoor space most- the sandbox, swings, mud kitchen, trucks, and farm animals (goats and chickens). Over the summer, he enjoyed the daily water play. I have appreciated the changes the owner Gigi has made since taking new ownership in 2024. My family initially had some concern about the negative reviews online left over from the old ownership, but none of those have continued to be present. All the current staff are friendly and patient, and we know our son is in a safe learning environment each day. He comes home saying he had “a thousand hundred fun” each day. My family recommends Morningstar Montessori to all our family and friends looking for a local preschool in Lincoln.

  • I am so excited to see the positive changes at Morningstar Montessori Lincoln School with their new owner and team! I trust them completely and have been thoroughly impressed by their dedication to providing a nurturing and educational environment for the children. The new leadership brings a fresh and thoughtful approach to everything, and I couldn’t be more confident in recommending this school to other families. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a caring and professional Montessori education!

  • First time visit to pick up our granddaughter. On the authorized list of course. My wife said " This is my first time here...what's the procedure? She was told, like this "YOU can wait in the KITCHEN!" Spare me the explanations...that is as rude as anything seen recently.

  • Our daughter has attended Morningstar Montessori for about 9 months now and we just love it! The environment encourages exploration and offers so many fun and interesting ways to engage in learning. I also love that the school aims to create a community of students and families by offering many opportunities to get to know and interact with other families and the school itself. We have found the teachers to be very knowledgeable and approachable (to both the children and parents). The school itself has more of a house-feel than an preschool "center", which I find very cozy and appealing. I'm amazed at the independence that my 3-year old is showing. She is learning not only from the teachers but from her peers, as the children are not separated by age group, and the older children take part in mentoring the younger ones (which I think is so cool and a win-win for all involved). I'm SO glad that we found this school. :)

  • Amazing staff. I have watched my child learn and grow so much in the last 2-1/2 years. Thank you Morningstar Montessori for making my child feel important and teaching him so many things. He shocks me daily with his knowledge of so many different subjects.

  • My child first enjoyed going here, but just recently started getting petrified the moment we would pull up to the school. We tried to address the problem, but according to the director it is our fault as parents. When we tried calming our child down and enter her in the school at drop off one day. The director aggressively approached our family, irate turned to our child first and said, "ok, you kissed your mommy and daddy now it's time for them to go." Then turned to us even more hostile and said our family is a distraction to the school and that this wasn't a good fit for us. They're very manipulative at this school, and the director definitely has some narcissistic characteristics. There is far more going on behind the scenes then you realize. Also if you have questions or concerns, don't ever expect a call back from the director. My husband tried calling her for 4 days one week with an issue and no call back. When I finally saw her one morning at school her excuse was that she was busy. Seriously? Not to mention our child has come home with poopy underwear and is CONSTANTLY sick coming home from this place. Do not send your child here. There are way better choices in this area, or even Montessori's that are located near Lincoln. Be warned! I would also like to add. That there has been two other previous reviews from parents stating that their child was petrified of Brittany and that the student to teacher ratio was under investigation, which it is again! We received a complaint investigation report from social services stating that the facility was out of ratio. This seems to be a consistent problem here. Also since Brittany took over the school all of the previous teachers quit.

Questions parents ask about MORNINGSTAR MONTESSORI

Is MORNINGSTAR MONTESSORI a licensed child care provider in California?

Yes. MORNINGSTAR MONTESSORI holds California licence 313617640, currently listed as "CLOSED" by the Department of Social Services, Community Care Licensing Division, first issued on October 9, 2013. Confirm current standing with the agency before enrolling.

What kind of child care licence does MORNINGSTAR MONTESSORI hold?

California licenses MORNINGSTAR MONTESSORI as a day care center, a category that covers preschool-age children in a centre-based programme. The category comes from the state's own licence record, not from the provider.

How many children can MORNINGSTAR MONTESSORI care for?

MORNINGSTAR MONTESSORI is licensed for up to 27 children at one time. Licensed capacity is a ceiling set by the state, not a count of current enrolment or of available places.

How often has California inspected MORNINGSTAR MONTESSORI?

California records 2 inspection visits to MORNINGSTAR MONTESSORI, the most recent on May 14, 2024 and the earliest on record August 4, 2022. The state publishes the dates of these visits but not what they found, so this count reflects licensing activity, not results. Read the findings themselves in California's own facility search.

Has California visited MORNINGSTAR MONTESSORI in response to a complaint?

California records 4 complaint-driven visits to MORNINGSTAR MONTESSORI. A complaint visit means someone raised a concern and the state went to look. California does not publish what those visits found, so the count on its own does not say whether any concern was upheld.

Who holds the licence for MORNINGSTAR MONTESSORI?

The licence is held by PERKINS, BRITTANY. California lists the licensee separately from the facility name, so the two often differ. The facility is in Placer County.
