Licensing visits on record

California records 1 routine inspection visit and no visits prompted by a complaint to MY OWN MONTESSORI SCHOOL.

  1. Most recent inspection visit

What California does not publish here

The state publishes when licensing staff visited, not what they found. We do not hold California’s inspection findings, so nothing on this page tells you whether a visit resulted in a citation. A visit count is a measure of licensing activity, and a facility visited more often is not for that reason a worse one. Read the findings in California’s own facility search.

  • We love My Own Montessori! My son is in his 2nd year there, and my daughter will start there next year. The curriculum is exceptional, the space is welcoming and sweet, the teachers are responsive and really invested in the children's success and experiences. highly recommend!!

  • MoM is a great fit for us -- our son loves to contribute (bake, make coffee, check the weather, vacuum, tidy) and MoM provides that affordance for him. The teachers provide enough structure to help students develop confidence, agency, and a strong sense of self. When I first observed the class, I found it quite moving. The careful balance of structure with high agency within it creates a classroom culture that becomes familiar and predictable to the children. This sense of safety allows them to stay well-regulated, maintain durable focus, and follow their natural curiosity.

  • We feel very lucky that our child has ended up at MOM. It's such a warm and welcoming school, with wonderful caring teachers. The school has been around for a long time, and has developed a bunch of lovely long-running traditions and parents and families are included in these traditions. It's a very calm environment and the kids have a lot of autonomy going inside and outside. My child has built a lot of confidence in social emotional development in addition to all the other learning (coming home telling me all about the moon, or continents, or Yayoi Kusama), it's beautiful watching the older kids support the younger ones as they move up through the school. Note that the hours are shorter than most preschools, and schools is closed in the summer with a summer school for the month of July, but if you can make the hours work it's a very special school and community.

  • When we were looking for a preschool for our daughter, we were hoping for a program that both supported her to have creative play, and also introduced her to foundational math and reading. My Own Montessori has a really good balance. It’s a true Montessori school, and from the first visit, it was clear to me how much the school and the teachers care. Everything is exceptionally well run and well designed. My daughter comes home telling me about the things they learned in the curriculum that week and what they’ll be doing next week. Also, the director Csilla has been remarkably responsive and supportive. My daughter has learned a lot and we have learned about child development too.

  • Our kid goes here; he loves it, we parents love it. The curriculum is varied and in-depth. They learn a lot, and almost everything through play ("work", in Montessori lingo) with meticulously prepared projects/tasks that the teacher have clearly put a lot of thought, time, and effort into. The most impressive, though, is the vibe of the place. All the kids are engaged and happy (each parent gets to observe once a year, fly-on-the-wall mode), and the rooms are filled with a focused quiet hum. Kids put their projects away when done with them, and happily. As if by magic, there is no ruckus, no screaming disagreements. Of course all of this is (gently, almost serenely) orchestrated by the teachers. And they lead by example: They're patient, very warm, and absolutely in it with their full hearts. I'm genuinely moved watching them work with the kids. A+

  • We’ve loved watching our toddler grow, develop social skills, independent living skills, and creative thinking at My Own Montessori. The teachers are caring and attentive to the individual needs of each child; simultaneously they encourage independence and autonomy across tasks. The M.O.M. program’s curriculum (and materials used) is meticulously chosen, and seamlessly executed. Twice yearly parents are allowed to come observe the classroom. During our visits, my husband and I felt inspired seeing so many students together in each room, calmly and curiously carrying out tasks of their own choosing. We would heartily recommend this school to anyone. For us, it’s been a thoughtful, welcoming, and warm environment in which to foster an early love of learning, self confidence, and connection to community.
