What California does not publish here
The state publishes when licensing staff visited, not what they found. We do not hold California’s inspection findings, so nothing on this page tells you whether a visit resulted in a citation. A visit count is a measure of licensing activity, and a facility visited more often is not for that reason a worse one. Read the findings in California’s own facility search.

An absolute perfect day care with great teachers, amazing vibes and extremely helpful staff. We couldn’t ask for more. Our kid is having a great time there.
Avi D. NaimJul 26, 2026New School has been so wonderful for our family! It combines really thoughtful, nurturing, developmentally appropriate care and play-based learning with extremely working parent friendly hours and procedures. There are tons of opportunities to get involved without the time commitment of a co-op. You can really feel the longevity of the community -- some of the parents are even New School alums themselves! Other perks: potential to transition to after school care for elementary kids, "camp days" for older kids when BUSD is closed, swimming lessons for the 4's class in the summer :)
Stevie JeungJul 16, 2026We love New School!! My son has been there for the past 3 years and will continue in the After School program next year. The teachers make this school so special. They are kind, gentle, communicative, and truly let the children be who they are. When selecting a preschool program, it was very important to us that there was a strong play-based curriculum; which is what we found at New School. As my son prepares to enter kindergarten he is exactly where he needs to be. He's developed a love for school, learning, and is excited for his next chapter in elementary school. I attribute so much of this to the experience the New School has created for him.
Breana MarinoJul 7, 2026Our children absolutely adore the New School and so do we. Most importantly, at the New School, they are safe, nurtured, and get to be inquisitive, curious, and explorative. It was bittersweet when our kids went off to Kindergarten but fortunately they have after-school programs and summer camps so our children can remain connected to this one-of-a-kind community.
Zach CohenJun 16, 2026The New School has been an incredible part of our daughter’s life for two years and a great community as new parents. The teachers and staff are really amazing.
Matthew HurwitJun 11, 2026Our daughter has been at The New School for a year and a half (she started in the 2 year old class and then transitioned to the 3 year old class in August) and she LOVES the school! She’s happy, talkative, fulfilled, and tired (in the best way) everyday when we pick her up. The curriculum is play-based and all the kids learn social-emotional skills in addition to academics (but the academics are woven into play). The kids play outside 80-90% of the day, go on neighborhood walks and field trips, and even take the city bus back from the library some days! The teachers are incredible, kind, and nurturing— they care so deeply about the kids and truly make the school what it is. We feel so safe leaving our daughter there and know they are taking impeccable care of her while she grows and thrives tremendously. The hours are great too (8am-6pm) and they have an after school program where older kids in BUSD can get bussed over to the school! The New School is a beautiful community and we’re so happy our daughter is growing up there.
