What California does not publish here

The state publishes when licensing staff visited, not what they found. We do not hold California’s inspection findings, so nothing on this page tells you whether a visit resulted in a citation. A visit count is a measure of licensing activity, and a facility visited more often is not for that reason a worse one. Read the findings in California’s own facility search.

  • Our son attended Petite Explorer for multiple years across multiple classrooms. We are so thrilled by our experience with the program that perfectly balanced learning and play. During his time at Petite we watched our son build his confidence and knowledge across an array of subjects. He built deep friendships with his peers and found trusted advisors among all of his teachers. He is tremendously prepared to make the jump into Elementary School because of the curriculum provided at Petite. We also loved the extra curricular dance class and the community of parents that come with having a student at Petite Explorer. We're so grateful for the experience!

  • Our daughter attended Petite Explorer’s Mission campus for one year, and our family had a wonderful experience. The program is exceptionally well organized and run very efficiently, which made daily communication, routines, and logistics easy for our family. The campus is a terrific space for the Mission, and the teachers and staff are warm, communicative, attentive, and genuinely eager to support the children. We always felt welcomed and well informed. We are very grateful for our daughter’s year at Petite Explorer and would happily recommend the school to other San Francisco families.

  • We joined La Petite Explorer at the very last minute for the 2025–2026 school year, and it turned out to be one of the best decisions we could have made. From the very beginning, everyone made us feel so welcome. Vicky was truly an angel. Even though I had applied to the NOPA location because it was the only one with an opening, she went above and beyond to help us get a spot at the campus closer to our home. We will always be grateful for her kindness and support. Within just a few days of starting, our daughter came home happier than ever—talking nonstop, singing, dancing, and excited to tell us about her day. Seeing her so happy and confident reassured us that we had found the right place. The teachers are wonderful, the environment is warm and nurturing, and the parent community is incredible. We met so many amazing families and truly felt like part of a community. We are going to miss La Petite Explorer so much. Thank you for making our daughter's first school experience so special. We will always look back on our time here with so much gratitude. ❤️

  • Very special place. One of our children was there through the three years of preschool, and the second one started six months ago. It is a fantastic environment, the teachers have been consistently great, and the director Ms Vickie is very experienced and involved.

  • Word of caution to those who request a spot on the waitlist. Definitely a way for them to make a few dollars as our family was never called again to get off the waitlist. Bad organization and poor communication. Be careful!

Questions parents ask about PETITE EXPLORER PRESCHOOL

Is PETITE EXPLORER PRESCHOOL a licensed child care provider in California?

Yes. PETITE EXPLORER PRESCHOOL holds California licence 384002978, currently listed as "LICENSED" by the Department of Social Services, Community Care Licensing Division, first issued on October 19, 2017. Confirm current standing with the agency before enrolling.

What kind of child care licence does PETITE EXPLORER PRESCHOOL hold?

California licenses PETITE EXPLORER PRESCHOOL as a day care center, a category that covers preschool-age children in a centre-based programme. The category comes from the state's own licence record, not from the provider.

How many children can PETITE EXPLORER PRESCHOOL care for?

PETITE EXPLORER PRESCHOOL is licensed for up to 66 children at one time. Licensed capacity is a ceiling set by the state, not a count of current enrolment or of available places.

How often has California inspected PETITE EXPLORER PRESCHOOL?

California records 3 inspection visits to PETITE EXPLORER PRESCHOOL, the most recent on January 28, 2025 and the earliest on record October 3, 2022. The state publishes the dates of these visits but not what they found, so this count reflects licensing activity, not results. Read the findings themselves in California's own facility search.

Has California visited PETITE EXPLORER PRESCHOOL in response to a complaint?

California records no complaint-driven visits to PETITE EXPLORER PRESCHOOL. That means no concern prompted a visit on the public record, which is not the same as a clean inspection history: the state does not publish what its visits found.

Who holds the licence for PETITE EXPLORER PRESCHOOL?

The licence is held by PETITE EXPLORER DAY SCHOOL, INC.. California lists the licensee separately from the facility name, so the two often differ. The facility is in San Francisco County.
