What California does not publish here
The state publishes when licensing staff visited, not what they found. We do not hold California’s inspection findings, so nothing on this page tells you whether a visit resulted in a citation. A visit count is a measure of licensing activity, and a facility visited more often is not for that reason a worse one. Read the findings in California’s own facility search.

“Based on my personal experience, I would not recommend this place. I found the speech and OT therapy to be highly overrated. The services delivered did not meet my expectations, especially considering the high fees. In my opinion, the therapists seemed unable to fully understand or address my child’s needs. It also feels like they hold a sort of monopoly in city, yet the quality of service does not reflect that. Additionally, I found the management to be rude and lacking empathy. It seemed more focused on money than on providing meaningful support. Overall, I would not recommend this centre if you are looking for effective and supportive speech or occupational therapy.”
Ruchika BajajDec 6, 2025We’ve had a fantastic experience at the School of Imagination the past couple years. The student-teacher ratio is excellent. The teachers and staff are incredibly caring. There is a focus on emotional growth and personality development. Our kids have truly enjoyed their time here. We love seeing all the pictures and videos shared during the day. Highly recommend! And a big shoutout to Ms. Casey, Ms. Denise and Ms. Athena!!
Tanay NagjeeMar 17, 2025Happy Talkers and Mitch and Charlene Sigman have helped so many young people and inspired so many people all across the country from California to Long Island, NY. Happy Talkers is doing God's work better than anyone ever has.
FRANK A LUISIFeb 24, 2025Our son was 2 with only a handful words when he joined School of Imagination and he started speaking in 2-3 word phrases in a matter of weeks. This was only possible because of the dedication and expertise of the teachers but also because of the love and care he received. Our family is beyond grateful to school of imagination.
Sadhana BhandariFeb 23, 2025My son (5) has been attending SOI for three years now. We had first heard of the school for potential speech therapy, where they are renowned in the region, it went great. While we started for speech therapy, that was but a short stint for our son’s time there. My entire family feels incredibly lucky to have had this school in our lives the past three years. It’s been a wonderful learning environment, with incredible teachers and faculty, and the amazing community. We’ll always have SOI in our hearts. Thank you and don’t think twice about attending!
Eric HaarFeb 22, 2025Exceptional preschool. Helped my child enormously in his early development stages and set him up for success. The staff is kind and very good at their craft, taking time to understand each child and catering to their specific needs. Charlene was available to share her experience and invaluable opinions if we were ever anxious about something (first child anxieties and there were a lot of them). You cannot go wrong with investing your child’s time at this facility.

Questions parents ask about SCHOOL OF IMAGINATION
Is SCHOOL OF IMAGINATION a licensed child care provider in California?
- Yes. SCHOOL OF IMAGINATION holds California licence 013420914, currently listed as "LICENSED" by the Department of Social Services, Community Care Licensing Division, first issued on October 12, 2011. Confirm current standing with the agency before enrolling.
What kind of child care licence does SCHOOL OF IMAGINATION hold?
- California licenses SCHOOL OF IMAGINATION as a day care center, a category that covers preschool-age children in a centre-based programme. The category comes from the state's own licence record, not from the provider.
How many children can SCHOOL OF IMAGINATION care for?
- SCHOOL OF IMAGINATION is licensed for up to 87 children at one time. Licensed capacity is a ceiling set by the state, not a count of current enrolment or of available places.
How often has California inspected SCHOOL OF IMAGINATION?
- California records 4 inspection visits to SCHOOL OF IMAGINATION, the most recent on July 2, 2026 and the earliest on record September 28, 2021. The state publishes the dates of these visits but not what they found, so this count reflects licensing activity, not results. Read the findings themselves in California's own facility search.
Has California visited SCHOOL OF IMAGINATION in response to a complaint?
- California records 7 complaint-driven visits to SCHOOL OF IMAGINATION. A complaint visit means someone raised a concern and the state went to look. California does not publish what those visits found, so the count on its own does not say whether any concern was upheld.
Who holds the licence for SCHOOL OF IMAGINATION?
- The licence is held by SCHOOL OF IMAGINATION. California lists the licensee separately from the facility name, so the two often differ. The facility is in Alameda County.
