What California does not publish here

The state publishes when licensing staff visited, not what they found. We do not hold California’s inspection findings, so nothing on this page tells you whether a visit resulted in a citation. A visit count is a measure of licensing activity, and a facility visited more often is not for that reason a worse one. Read the findings in California’s own facility search.

  • My son Kaash began attending Spirit Child Development Center for speech and occupational therapy. Once he turned 2 he began attending their Infant preschool program. This school has taken my son from about 7 words in his vocabulary to well over 50. They care for children with developmental disabilities as well as those without. The staff is very kind, attentive and kept my son safe. I love how they kept my family informed about the smallest of things; that showed how much they valued us and our child’s wellbeing. They take the children on field trips and host all types of fun activities throughout the year. Spirit is the best center the Regional Center could pay for (they also accept other payment programs like Crystal Stairs). I love how no one is allowed beyond the gate except children and staff. Thank you to all the teachers and staff and may God bless you all for the excellent work you do by educating and caring for our children.

  • I absolutely love this school, the teachers and the staff are honestly like family, so kind, loving and on it when it comes to the children and their educational experience. My daughter has been going here since she literally turn two years old! Now she’s off to 1st grade, our experience with Spirit Childhood was beyond amazing, she learn sign language, Spanish, the very important people that made history, black history, about foreign countries, and the summer program is top tier with lots of activities, a end of the year carnival that they have for them and also a summer album that the teachers create. I want to give a special thank you to teacher keena, teacher Jennifer and most importantly our favorite Teacher Liz, she showed my daughter so much love. Thank you wonderful staff at spirit you guys are appreciated and parents don’t hesitate this school I promise you, you will not regret.

  • This CDC was recommended by a friend to us. Hands down the best choice we could have made for my daughter during the pandemic hardship. The staff ensured all the CDC regulations and requirements were met, given the constant changes that occurred. They are responsive, humble, educated, organized, emphatic, have the best school curriculum, and have all the energy in the world. Every teacher and staff member knew us, and it felt like we were family right away. Due to COVID, I did not have the opportunity to tour the facility beforehand and just dropped my daughter off, which is the new norm nowadays. Yes, that day, I called like ten times, and all ten times, I was treated with respect and was given an update on my daughter. Yes, I am that mom! When I picked her up, she was so happy and tired from all of the activities during the day. The next day during drop-off, she let go of my hand and said bye. Yes, no crying! I knew at that moment I made the right choice. She always looked forward to seeing her friends and teachers. Unfortunately, I had to take her out of the CDC because she was admitted to the school near our home. My daughter is not five years old yet, and she left knowing her numbers up to 200, all the colors, ABC's, some sight words, speaking complete coherent sentences, and addition and subtraction. Yup, all that under 5 yrs old! My daughter's transition to the "new" school was seamless because teachers and staff worked with her to prepare her for the new school. I was in shock! To this day, she wants to go back to her "little" school to see the Spirit CDC Family. I highly recommended this school. My daughter's new teacher gave kudos to Spirit CDC, because my daughter is advanced not only academically but emotionally for kids her age. If we have baby #2 no doubt we will go back to Spirit for the infant center and the child care center.

  • My child started attending Spirit when he was 2 years old and is now 5 so, sadly, we will saying goodbye this summer! All of his teachers and the administrators have been professional, friendly and and supportive. Their celebrations and events are fun and engaging, as well as their summer program! We have made a number of friends who we will certainly keep on touch with once we move on. Do yourself a favor and consider Spirit!

  • It saddens me to read bad reviews of Spirit. I absolutely LOVE this school and the Staff! We were lucky enough to be part of this amazing family for 7 years (we did the infant center as well) and still visit from time time. My kids suffered from speech delay so they did speech therapy there and the staff always kept me informed of their progress. When their services ended, they always suggested activities and lessons to do at home and even gave them a few free sessions to keep them on track till they transferred to LAUSD. I will forever be grateful to Anita and her amazing staff for being the best teachers to our daughters. I highly recommend this school!

Questions parents ask about SPIRIT CHILD DEVELOPMENT CENTER

Is SPIRIT CHILD DEVELOPMENT CENTER a licensed child care provider in California?

Yes. SPIRIT CHILD DEVELOPMENT CENTER holds California licence 197416919, currently listed as "CLOSED" by the Department of Social Services, Community Care Licensing Division, first issued on April 26, 2010. Confirm current standing with the agency before enrolling.

What kind of child care licence does SPIRIT CHILD DEVELOPMENT CENTER hold?

California licenses SPIRIT CHILD DEVELOPMENT CENTER as a day care center, a category that covers preschool-age children in a centre-based programme. The category comes from the state's own licence record, not from the provider.

How many children can SPIRIT CHILD DEVELOPMENT CENTER care for?

SPIRIT CHILD DEVELOPMENT CENTER is licensed for up to 60 children at one time. Licensed capacity is a ceiling set by the state, not a count of current enrolment or of available places.

How often has California inspected SPIRIT CHILD DEVELOPMENT CENTER?

California records 2 inspection visits to SPIRIT CHILD DEVELOPMENT CENTER, the most recent on February 14, 2025 and the earliest on record May 27, 2022. The state publishes the dates of these visits but not what they found, so this count reflects licensing activity, not results. Read the findings themselves in California's own facility search.

Has California visited SPIRIT CHILD DEVELOPMENT CENTER in response to a complaint?

California records 2 complaint-driven visits to SPIRIT CHILD DEVELOPMENT CENTER. A complaint visit means someone raised a concern and the state went to look. California does not publish what those visits found, so the count on its own does not say whether any concern was upheld.

Who holds the licence for SPIRIT CHILD DEVELOPMENT CENTER?

The licence is held by SPIRIT CHILD DEVELOPMENT CENTER. California lists the licensee separately from the facility name, so the two often differ. The facility is in Los Angeles County.
