What California does not publish here
The state publishes when licensing staff visited, not what they found. We do not hold California’s inspection findings, so nothing on this page tells you whether a visit resulted in a citation. A visit count is a measure of licensing activity, and a facility visited more often is not for that reason a worse one. Read the findings in California’s own facility search.

Our family’s experience at St. Paul’s Lutheran School in San Diego has been truly exceptional. With three kids enrolled, we see every day how a nurturing environment and strong academics go hand in hand. The teachers genuinely care for each child, and the small class sizes allow for meaningful, personalized attention. What makes St. Paul’s especially unique is the strong sense of family and its Christ-centered foundation. Faith isn’t just taught—it’s lived out daily, shaping our children both academically and spiritually. We are so grateful to be part of this loving community. That same warmth extends beyond the school and into the church. The congregation is welcoming and kind, and our kids love Sunday Kids Church. There are so many opportunities to get involved—Bingo, school events, house building in Mexico, backpack drives, Bible studies, and gatherings for kids, youth, young adults, women, and men. There truly is something for everyone, and it’s a joy to be part of a church that feels like home.
Diani VossFeb 19, 2026We love our St. Paul's family! St. Paul's is a welcoming, vibrant community of faith. The friendships we have made through our church have been lifelong and meaningful. Pastor Nathan and Pastor Isaac are very personable and available for us as a family. Their preaching is relatable and easy to apply to our everyday lives! It has been a great community in which to raise our children. We highly recommend St. Paul's Lutheran Church!
Steven AllsingDec 19, 2025I've been attending St. Paul's since my return to San Diego in 2020. COVID certainly made things challenging at the start, but that's behind us. Worship experience is great because it's authentic and inviting. I like that Pastor Hausch and Pastor Davis frequently explain why we worship the way we do...makes it easier for guests to understand. And then, there's the music. Our music director does a tremendous job of integrating instruments like strings, brass, and tympani with the organ. Traditional hymns played a brisk pace so they don't seem like a dirge! Also, new voices for solos are brought in from time to time, and they're always great. I've made many friends, including the guys that attend the weekly Saturday breakfast at the Broken Yolk in PB. It's a great time to laugh, share stories about what's going on in our lives, and have some interesting discussions about Jesus and the bible. Lots of great worship opportunities coming up for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day...come join us! Mark Ernster
Mark OhioDec 18, 2025My family loves going to St. Paul’s. I have two year old twins and a 7 year old and this church is very family friendly. If my kids make noises during church no one minds. They all welcome the children and are happy to have them there. They also have a cry room in the back where you can still see and hear the service. My twins love going to the nursery and playing during the sermon. My 7 year old goes with the older kids for the kids sermon and always has fun. It is a warm and welcoming environment.
Makenzie OlsenDec 14, 2025St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and School is a welcoming and supportive community where I have made life-long friends in Christ. The first time I attended St. Paul’s over 10 years ago, I knew that I was going to join. I look forward each week to hearings God’s Word and experiencing Christ’s love for us. From the quality and inspiring Bible-based messages given by our Pastors’ to the phenomenal music program in both the church and school, we truly are blessed. I am very lucky to be in the adult church choir and to be part of the music program. I am, and often more than once during the service, moved to tears when experiencing moments of joy and belonging (which also can be embarrassing). Our school is committed to educating students to be prepared for the future academically, technologically, emotionally, and spiritually. We would love for you to come to St. Paul’s and “dream with us” and be part of our future. We welcome you with open hearts and arms.
Peggy ZickertApr 20, 2025St. Paul's has been my church home for 30 years. The number one thing I value most is it preaches the Gospel message and sticks to the true teachings of Jesus. It is a loving and welcoming place of worship offering both fantastic traditional and contemporary/blended music styles. The preschool - eighth grade school is fully accredited and includes a top notch music program, foreign language instruction, athletics and a personally involved teaching staff. My children made lifelong friends there and I cherish the friendships I've made at St. Paul's.

Questions parents ask about ST. PAUL'S LUTHERAN CHURCH & SCHOOL
Is ST. PAUL'S LUTHERAN CHURCH & SCHOOL a licensed child care provider in California?
- Yes. ST. PAUL'S LUTHERAN CHURCH & SCHOOL holds California licence 372005697, currently listed as "LICENSED" by the Department of Social Services, Community Care Licensing Division, first issued on September 4, 1987. Confirm current standing with the agency before enrolling.
What kind of child care licence does ST. PAUL'S LUTHERAN CHURCH & SCHOOL hold?
- California licenses ST. PAUL'S LUTHERAN CHURCH & SCHOOL as a day care center, a category that covers preschool-age children in a centre-based programme. The category comes from the state's own licence record, not from the provider.
How many children can ST. PAUL'S LUTHERAN CHURCH & SCHOOL care for?
- ST. PAUL'S LUTHERAN CHURCH & SCHOOL is licensed for up to 52 children at one time. Licensed capacity is a ceiling set by the state, not a count of current enrolment or of available places.
How often has California inspected ST. PAUL'S LUTHERAN CHURCH & SCHOOL?
- California records 3 inspection visits to ST. PAUL'S LUTHERAN CHURCH & SCHOOL, the most recent on January 26, 2026 and the earliest on record February 24, 2022. Has California visited ST. PAUL'S LUTHERAN CHURCH & SCHOOL in response to a complaint?
- California records no complaint-driven visits to ST. PAUL'S LUTHERAN CHURCH & SCHOOL. That means no concern prompted a visit on the public record, which is not the same as a clean inspection history: the state does not publish what its visits found.
Who holds the licence for ST. PAUL'S LUTHERAN CHURCH & SCHOOL?
- The licence is held by ST. PAUL'S LUTHERAN CHURCH OF PACIFIC BEACH. California lists the licensee separately from the facility name, so the two often differ. The facility is in San Diego County.
