What California does not publish here
The state publishes when licensing staff visited, not what they found. We do not hold California’s inspection findings, so nothing on this page tells you whether a visit resulted in a citation. A visit count is a measure of licensing activity, and a facility visited more often is not for that reason a worse one. Read the findings in California’s own facility search.

My son, Kabir started at Startford last year for his Pre-Kindergarten, and it has truly been a wonderful experience so far. Over the past year, I have seen tremendous growth in him. He is much more confident, incredibly curious and most importantly, has grown into a kind and thoughtful little human being. What I truly appreciate is how dedicated the teachers are to nurturing each child with care and intention. I have had the opportunity to be part of the parent committee during my first year here, and I’ve seen firsthand the effort the school puts into organizing meaningful events and activities. Every little initiative is thoughtfully designed to help the children learn, grow, and develop respect for others. I absolutely love watching my son learn and flourish here, and I’m excited to continue this journey with the school. A big shout-out to the wonderful class teachers, Sheetal Ma’am and Neeta Ma’am, for their constant support and guidance. Special thanks as well to the front admin staff, Shehla Ma’am and Meera Ma’am, for always being available to answer questions and for greeting both parents and children with such warmth. And last but certainly not least, heartfelt gratitude to the backbone of the school, Sandhya Ma’am and Jasbir Ma’am, for always being so lovely and supportive. Thank you, Startford — it has truly been a pleasure. I highly recommend Startford for your child’s overall development. 😊
Babita AswaniFeb 27, 2026We are so grateful for the incredible work that Ms. Sandhya and Ms. Keiani have done with our son this year. They are compassionate, attentive, and highly skilled. They create a safe, nurturing, and structured learning environment. Under their guidance, our son has shown tremendous growth — academically, socially, and emotionally. His communication skills have improved, his curiosity has blossomed, and he has developed strong foundational skills that will serve him extremely well in kindergarten. Their dedication and genuine love for teaching are evident in everything they do. They take the time to understand each child’s needs and bring out the best in them. We are sincerely grateful for their involvement in our son’s development and kindergarten readiness. A BIG Thank You to them and to Stratford. Ms. Jasbir is leading a great school. Both of our children have enjoyed and excelled.
Vik SahniNov 14, 2025It really pains me to write about a situation involving my son's experience at his FIRST school/childcare since the pandemic! My spouse and I have entrusted other adults to take care of our child, but we were basically forced to prematurely leave due to safety concerns. Our son woke us up on the morning of Wednesday 01/17/23 to tell us that his teacher, Sheetal Parekh, had pinched his ear because he wasn’t writing his name properly on his paper. Our son is only 3 years old and is literally learning how to properly hold a crayon and develop fine motor skills. In addition to not having the capacity to lie at his age, his memory is impeccable in retelling experiences and situations. The story remained consistent without any prompts, and he always pointed to the same ear (left) that his teacher had pinched. We met with the principal, Jasbir Rattan, and were told that it was surprising behavior and that in their 15 years of working together, there have been no complaints. However, parents of the other children in his class can corroborate that this is indeed false and were often met with condescending remarks and utter rudeness when expressing their own concerns, so we knew this claim of perfection to be false. As if this situation wasn't bad enough, they are still pursuing to charge us a 10% of the annual tuition early withdrawal fee despite the fact that we had withdrawn our son because of a very real concern for his safety - my son’s teacher put her hands on him! On top of physical abuse, his classmates and our son himself has told their parents / us that she would yell at him (for even something as simple as him putting his hands in glue - out of curiosity!!). I would NEVER recommend this school if you want to ensure the safety and well-being of your child; I would only hope that people would truly advocate for their children and not let a school's director bully them into paying MORE money out of coercion. They clearly only care about money over safety and concerns!
John CancioMar 22, 2023I am so grateful for Michelle and Cherryl who have been amazing teachers for my child at pre-k. These nice teachers bring such joy, patience and creativity to their lessons, making it a fun learning experience for the kids. Max has made remarkable progress in his language and social skills under their guidance. I highly recommend Michelle and Cherryl. They are truly one of a kind and make a positive impact on the children they teach.

Questions parents ask about STRATFORD SCHOOL
Is STRATFORD SCHOOL a licensed child care provider in California?
- Yes. STRATFORD SCHOOL holds California licence 013420588, currently listed as "LICENSED" by the Department of Social Services, Community Care Licensing Division, first issued on January 25, 2011. Confirm current standing with the agency before enrolling.
What kind of child care licence does STRATFORD SCHOOL hold?
- California licenses STRATFORD SCHOOL as a day care center, a category that covers preschool-age children in a centre-based programme. The category comes from the state's own licence record, not from the provider.
How many children can STRATFORD SCHOOL care for?
- STRATFORD SCHOOL is licensed for up to 240 children at one time. Licensed capacity is a ceiling set by the state, not a count of current enrolment or of available places.
How often has California inspected STRATFORD SCHOOL?
- California records 5 inspection visits to STRATFORD SCHOOL, the most recent on April 14, 2026 and the earliest on record February 14, 2022. The state publishes the dates of these visits but not what they found, so this count reflects licensing activity, not results. Read the findings themselves in California's own facility search.
Has California visited STRATFORD SCHOOL in response to a complaint?
- California records 3 complaint-driven visits to STRATFORD SCHOOL. A complaint visit means someone raised a concern and the state went to look. California does not publish what those visits found, so the count on its own does not say whether any concern was upheld.
Who holds the licence for STRATFORD SCHOOL?
- The licence is held by STRATFORD SCHOOL. California lists the licensee separately from the facility name, so the two often differ. The facility is in Alameda County.
