What California does not publish here

The state publishes when licensing staff visited, not what they found. We do not hold California’s inspection findings, so nothing on this page tells you whether a visit resulted in a citation. A visit count is a measure of licensing activity, and a facility visited more often is not for that reason a worse one. Read the findings in California’s own facility search.

  • We’ve sent both our kids to Tassajara Learning Center and honestly can’t say enough good things — it’s a genuine hidden gem. From the very first day, it was clear how much the teachers truly care about each child. They’re warm, patient, and they take the time to really know the kids as individuals. What’s stood out most to us is how safe and nurturing the environment is. The staff are vigilant and thoughtful, and the kids are always well looked after. Both our children have flourished here — not just in the regular sessions but in the summer program too. We’d recommend Tassajara to any family in a heartbeat.

  • More than the beautiful, clean, and thoughtfully designed classrooms—bright, organized, and filled with engaging, age-appropriate materials—it is the people at Tassajara Learning Center who truly make this school exceptional and has been such a blessing to our family. We truly feel so fortunate to have found a school and community this special. Our middle daughter has gone through the school program since age 3 and will complete the TK program this summer. She is heading into kindergarten confident, happy, and incredibly well prepared—socially, emotionally, and academically. That growth is a direct reflection of the amazing teachers and leadership who pour so much love and intention into what they do. The teachers don’t just know the children by name—they genuinely know each child’s personality, temperament, strengths, and challenges. They take the time to understand who each child is and nurture them accordingly. The directors are present, engaged, and deeply invested, and the entire staff creates an environment that feels like an extended family. We feel truly blessed to have found such a warm, supportive, and loving community for our kids. Our oldest daughter (8yo) often comments on how great TLC feels when we’re there and wishes she could have attended TLC in her preschool years. We are so confident in this school that our third daughter will be starting in the summer program this year. We are beyond grateful for the teachers, the community, and the foundation TLC has given our family.

  • After touring at least 5–10 preschools in the area, Tassajara Learning Center in Danville truly stood out as the best choice for our family. The drive from Alamo, after seeing so many schools, is worth it. There were many reasons this school rose to the top, but safety was a major one. Unlike several other preschools we visited where the front door opens directly into classrooms, Tassajara has a proper front desk with controlled entry. That added layer of security made a big difference for us and provided real peace of mind. Beyond safety, the environment feels warm, organized, and thoughtfully run. The classrooms are engaging, and it’s clear the teachers genuinely care about children’s social, emotional, and academic development. We’re excited about the opportunity for both of our children to be part of the school community and are especially impressed by their fabulous Transitional Kindergarten program for our 4-year-old. It’s reassuring to know there’s such a strong foundation and next step available. For families touring multiple schools and carefully weighing their options like we did, Tassajara Learning Center is absolutely worth a visit.

  • Tassajara Learning Center is an exceptional preschool! I’ve sent all three of my children there and couldn’t be happier with the care, attention, and genuine love they received from the entire staff. The facilities are beautiful, and each classroom is thoughtfully maintained, neat, engaging, and filled with colorful, enriching activities. Most importantly, my children felt safe, happy, and truly nurtured. I’m incredibly grateful for the positive impact this school has had on our family! The dedication and kindness of the staff truly set this school apart.

  • Enrolling my daughter at TLC has been an incredible decision. After touring numerous facilities in the area, TLC stood out immediately for its organization and genuine understanding of child development. The curriculum is top-notch, but what truly sets them apart is the people—the staff, teachers, and directors are deeply engaged and friendly. It feels less like a daycare and more like a supportive community. I couldn’t be happier seeing my daughter flourish in such a loving environment!

  • Our family has enjoyed a positive experience at TLC over the past three years. The school directors, Lynn and Kristi, do an excellent job hiring and retaining top notch teachers that fill each classroom with love, laughter and learning. TLC has been a wonderful place for our two young sons to grow and thrive!

Questions parents ask about TASSAJARA LEARNING CENTER

Is TASSAJARA LEARNING CENTER a licensed child care provider in California?

Yes. TASSAJARA LEARNING CENTER holds California licence 073405611, currently listed as "LICENSED" by the Department of Social Services, Community Care Licensing Division, first issued on January 5, 2007. Confirm current standing with the agency before enrolling.

What kind of child care licence does TASSAJARA LEARNING CENTER hold?

California licenses TASSAJARA LEARNING CENTER as a day care center, a category that covers preschool-age children in a centre-based programme. The category comes from the state's own licence record, not from the provider.

How many children can TASSAJARA LEARNING CENTER care for?

TASSAJARA LEARNING CENTER is licensed for up to 127 children at one time. Licensed capacity is a ceiling set by the state, not a count of current enrolment or of available places.

How often has California inspected TASSAJARA LEARNING CENTER?

California records 2 inspection visits to TASSAJARA LEARNING CENTER, the most recent on May 14, 2024 and the earliest on record November 2, 2022. The state publishes the dates of these visits but not what they found, so this count reflects licensing activity, not results. Read the findings themselves in California's own facility search.

Has California visited TASSAJARA LEARNING CENTER in response to a complaint?

California records no complaint-driven visits to TASSAJARA LEARNING CENTER. That means no concern prompted a visit on the public record, which is not the same as a clean inspection history: the state does not publish what its visits found.

Who holds the licence for TASSAJARA LEARNING CENTER?

The licence is held by FIRST FRIENDS PRESCHOOLS, LLC. California lists the licensee separately from the facility name, so the two often differ. The facility is in Contra Costa County.
