What California does not publish here

The state publishes when licensing staff visited, not what they found. We do not hold California’s inspection findings, so nothing on this page tells you whether a visit resulted in a citation. A visit count is a measure of licensing activity, and a facility visited more often is not for that reason a worse one. Read the findings in California’s own facility search.

  • My son has been going to Tot Town for over two years and it’s been an amazing experience. My pandemic baby turned toddler and I was scrambling to find a care center for him. After being on countless waitlists without even being able to tour those facilities (not to mention the cost, yikes), my friend recommended Tot Town. Once I did the walk in tour and learned their philosophy, I knew it was the place for us. I have a very anxious child and I feel that Nancy and the rest of the Tot Town staff have gone above and beyond to make him feel comfortable. They even initiated potty training for us which was a huge relief. We look forward to the holiday/monthly activities and special guests like the Bee Show and fire truck demonstration, to name a few. My son has one year left and it will be a sad day when he moves on but I’m proud to say that my youngest will be starting in the next few months. Thank you Tot Town for welcoming our family.

  • I took my child for only 3 days plus 2 "walk throughs". I'm not someone who takes chances with my childs care. The building is old, dark & dingy. They seem to be very short staffed and there are way too many kids for the small space. I was CONCERNED when I noticed that every time I came into the building or into the play yard, all of the teachers were sitting down & not interacting with the children at all. Everytime I went to pick up my child; there where many babies in the classes CRYING & SCREAMING, very clearly in EMOTIONAL DISTRESS & the teachers were IGNORING them. The last occasion, I noticed a very young baby crying. I waited for someone to console him, both teachers were just sitting ignoring him. Finally I asked "what was wrong with him?" The teachers dismissively told me that, " he misses his mother & he cries every time someone comes in". One of the teachers who overheard me asking, then snapped at the baby " your ok so-n-so" she sounded extremely ANNOYED with the baby, finally she got up and wiped his face then sat back down. (So I guess they had been ignoring him all day, knowing he was upset. IDK 😐 ) I decided to ask about the teachers qualifications, and how up to date the qualifications where. I also mentioned that I was CONCERNED about the way the children were being treated. I thought I would be able to have a conversation with the owner or the teacher about my concern. Instead me and my concerns were COMPLETELY DISMISSED, no conversation or explanation. The next day the owner called me to terminated our contract and I was told to come pick up our child's things. Extremely suspicious behavior toward a parent with concerns about students well-being. I DO NOT RECOMMEND SENDING YOUR CHILD HERE UNLESS YOU ARE WILLING TO PUT THEIR EMOTIONAL WELFARE AT RISK. This is only my experience and opinion.

Questions parents ask about TOT TOWN CHILD DEVELOPMENT CENTER

Is TOT TOWN CHILD DEVELOPMENT CENTER a licensed child care provider in California?

Yes. TOT TOWN CHILD DEVELOPMENT CENTER holds California licence 340320010, currently listed as "LICENSED" by the Department of Social Services, Community Care Licensing Division, first issued on March 24, 1993. Confirm current standing with the agency before enrolling.

What kind of child care licence does TOT TOWN CHILD DEVELOPMENT CENTER hold?

California licenses TOT TOWN CHILD DEVELOPMENT CENTER as a day care center, a category that covers preschool-age children in a centre-based programme. The category comes from the state's own licence record, not from the provider.

How many children can TOT TOWN CHILD DEVELOPMENT CENTER care for?

TOT TOWN CHILD DEVELOPMENT CENTER is licensed for up to 75 children at one time. Licensed capacity is a ceiling set by the state, not a count of current enrolment or of available places.

How often has California inspected TOT TOWN CHILD DEVELOPMENT CENTER?

California records 3 inspection visits to TOT TOWN CHILD DEVELOPMENT CENTER, the most recent on July 29, 2025 and the earliest on record March 29, 2022. The state publishes the dates of these visits but not what they found, so this count reflects licensing activity, not results. Read the findings themselves in California's own facility search.

Has California visited TOT TOWN CHILD DEVELOPMENT CENTER in response to a complaint?

California records 6 complaint-driven visits to TOT TOWN CHILD DEVELOPMENT CENTER. A complaint visit means someone raised a concern and the state went to look. California does not publish what those visits found, so the count on its own does not say whether any concern was upheld.

Who holds the licence for TOT TOWN CHILD DEVELOPMENT CENTER?

The licence is held by TOT TOWN CHILD DEVELOPMENT CENTER, INC.. California lists the licensee separately from the facility name, so the two often differ. The facility is in Sacramento County.
