What California does not publish here

The state publishes when licensing staff visited, not what they found. We do not hold California’s inspection findings, so nothing on this page tells you whether a visit resulted in a citation. A visit count is a measure of licensing activity, and a facility visited more often is not for that reason a worse one. Read the findings in California’s own facility search.

  • I can't say enough good things about Village Nursery School. In a true full circle moment, I attended Village as a child, and now my daughter goes here. Watching her make memories in the same place I did has been incredibly special for our family. We toured many preschools before enrolling and what sealed the deal for us was the community, the low adult to child ratio, and their play based learning philosophy. Being this little is such a short window of time, and letting kids be kids is something that was so important for us. At Village the kids spend their day learning through hands on experiences, imaginative play, art, and outdoor exploration. The teachers and director are wonderful. They are communitive, caring, and give frequent fun photo updates. Yay for Teacher Mindy, Teacher Jen, and Teacher Elisa! One of the things that makes Village unique is that it's a co-op preschool. That means parents are involved in the school community and spend time participating in the classroom, school maintenance, and school events. While that might sound intimidating at first, it has been one of our favorite parts of the experience! We have only been here a short time so far, but we've already built friendships with other families and become part of a supportive community. It feels like everyone is invested in helping all the children succeed. Community matters! I've gotten to know the teachers, the other families, and my daughter's friends in a way I know wouldn't have happened in a traditional preschool setting. One of the sweetest parts has been hearing stories about my daughter from other parents and getting glimpses of her day through their eyes. For families with two working parents like ours, the full-time program is a huge plus. It's from 8:00 AM to 5:30PM which is rare in a co-op setting and make Village a realistic option for working families . The location of Village is also a convenient location, not only for Daly City families, but for Peninsula families too (San Bruno, SSF, etc) especially for those who commute into San Francisco for work. If you're looking for an affordable, high quality preschool that combines play based learning, an incredible parent community, caring teachers, and a true sense of belonging, I highly recommend Village Nursery School. We feel very lucky to be part of it. My daughter is genuinely so excited going to school each day, and it's amazing to see how much she learns while simply being allowed to be a kid.

  • Finding the right daycare for our first child felt overwhelming, but Village Nursery School made the transition so easy. From the moment we walked in, the teachers and staff welcomed us with open arms, creating a warm and supportive environment. The parent community is just as wonderful, making us feel like part of a family. Our daughter absolutely loves it—she’s growing, learning, and having so much fun every day. We couldn’t ask for a better place for her!

  • Village Nursery is such a bright light in our lives! We were nervous looking for daycare options in the Bay Area for our daughter, and Village came highly recommended from a family friend. This place is amazing and we're so lucky we found such a wonderful co-op that relies on play based, child centered curriculum! Our daughter has now been here for seven months and absolutely loves the teachers and other students! The parent and teacher commitment and involvement is unmatched and it's been so fun to see how much our daughter has grown here since she started!

  • I can't say enough wonderful things about Village Nursery School. Our son started there when he was just 24 months old, and while the transition from being at home full-time to a school environment was challenging, the teachers and other parents made sure we felt supported every step of the way. It was clear from the beginning that the school's co-op format is one of its greatest strengths, allowing families to be directly involved in their child's learning and development. As parents, we felt completely embraced by the community; the sense of camaraderie is unmatched. The co-op model really fosters an environment of mutual support, where everyone feels like they are working together to create a nurturing space for the kids. The teachers at Village Nursery School are truly exceptional. They are some of the most patient, kind, and knowledgeable individuals we've ever met. It's clear that they deeply care for each child and are dedicated to creating an environment where every child can thrive. Our son adores his teachers and looks forward to seeing them every day. Their guidance has helped him grow in so many ways, from developing social skills to learning how to express himself more confidently. We've seen firsthand how much thought and effort they put into their teaching. One of the things we appreciate most is how the staff made sure to keep us updated on our son's progress, especially during those early weeks. They were always available to answer questions, provide feedback, and offer reassurance. That level of communication made the transition so much easier for both us and our son. Now, our son is absolutely thriving. He loves school and gets excited every morning to go. It's so heartwarming to know that he's not only learning but also building strong friendships and growing in a safe, loving environment. If you're looking for a school that truly feels like a family and offers the most supportive, special community, I recommend enrolling your child at Village Nursery School. It's a place where children--and parents--feel truly valued.

  • I feel so lucky that we found VNS! It’s not just a regular preschool/daycare. The teachers and families are so committed to make this place better in many ways! This is my daughter’s first school experience so it took her a few weeks to adjust but teachers and families provided a lot of support to make the transitions as easy as possible. After a few months, she loved going to school and couldn't wait to go to school everyday! One thing I really like is that the kids also get to go on field trips once a month, which I think is very unique that other schools don’t have. Overall, I agree that it does require more effort to join a co-op school due to many obligations but you also get to make friends, learn from other parents, and have that community support through family meetings and workdays.

Questions parents ask about VILLAGE NURSERY SCHOOL

Is VILLAGE NURSERY SCHOOL a licensed child care provider in California?

Yes. VILLAGE NURSERY SCHOOL holds California licence 410503442, currently listed as "LICENSED" by the Department of Social Services, Community Care Licensing Division, first issued on October 22, 1994. Confirm current standing with the agency before enrolling.

What kind of child care licence does VILLAGE NURSERY SCHOOL hold?

California licenses VILLAGE NURSERY SCHOOL as a day care center, a category that covers preschool-age children in a centre-based programme. The category comes from the state's own licence record, not from the provider.

How many children can VILLAGE NURSERY SCHOOL care for?

VILLAGE NURSERY SCHOOL is licensed for up to 24 children at one time. Licensed capacity is a ceiling set by the state, not a count of current enrolment or of available places.

How often has California inspected VILLAGE NURSERY SCHOOL?

California records 4 inspection visits to VILLAGE NURSERY SCHOOL, the most recent on July 6, 2026 and the earliest on record April 12, 2023. The state publishes the dates of these visits but not what they found, so this count reflects licensing activity, not results. Read the findings themselves in California's own facility search.

Has California visited VILLAGE NURSERY SCHOOL in response to a complaint?

California records no complaint-driven visits to VILLAGE NURSERY SCHOOL. That means no concern prompted a visit on the public record, which is not the same as a clean inspection history: the state does not publish what its visits found.

Who holds the licence for VILLAGE NURSERY SCHOOL?

The licence is held by VILLAGE NURSERY SCHOOL. California lists the licensee separately from the facility name, so the two often differ. The facility is in San Mateo County.
