I’m extremely disappointed with the leadership at Del Mar Academy. The principal does not seem to be doing her job when it comes to supporting students with special needs. These students deserve proper care, attention, and the services they are legally entitled to—but that is clearly not happening here. It’s frustrating and upsetting to see a lack of accountability when it comes to something so important. Families trust schools to provide a safe and supportive environment for all children, and right now that trust is being broken. This situation needs serious attention and improvement.
Diana SandovalApr 28, 2026This school has been a constant disappointment since my daughter started going here in September. The first of our issues began with bullying. After moving, we switched her school (Del Mar is the school she’s zoned for based on our address). Shortly after moving she started having issues with a student in class bullying her. After repeated incidents with this student and speaking with her teacher, I had a meeting with her teacher as well as a couple different reps from the school. It was suggested that my daughter be moved to a different class. Hesitant due to her just moving schools and finally starting to make friends in this class, I suggested that the bully be moved but I was told that it would be easier to move my daughter instead of this student and a few others that had a “mean girl” group and that it’s easier to move one student than it is to move multiple students. I reluctantly agreed. I later found out that one of the other students in the class had to move also due to this same bully. About a month ago, I got called to the school after a boy pushed and then slapped/scratched my daughter in the face and he only received a 1-day suspension, which essentially didn’t apply due to the fact that the detention coincided with the day the school had to close due to a lack of teachers. Most recently, my daughter was sexually harassed by a fifth grader at after school. The principal was notified via email on Thursday evening (I was copied on the email so I know she received it), however nothing was done until I reached out to her directly on Tuesday afternoon and informed the school that I had filed a police report regarding the incident. She hadn’t notified the assistant principal, my daughter’s teacher or any other administrative personnel in the building. No disciplinary action was taken against the student other than a one day suspension from afterschool care and a “no-contact” order issued to him and my daughter. My daughter pointed this student out to me during drop-off and I’ve seen him at school everyday since the sexual harassment occurred. Thankfully, I was able to get my daughter placed in a charter school for next year so that we don’t have to deal with the negligence and complete disregard for her safety and well-being.
Courtney SimmonsApr 7, 2026I do not much recommend This school Based on my Experience last year,Them Kids Bullied Lots of kids
Carolina HernandezJan 14, 20262 times my daughter whom is the oldest of the two who attend the school was kept with her class after school and have missed, the school bus and had to walk home! Twice I had went to pick my daughters up Early and staff said only 10 minutes it would take them. They actually made me wait for them 30 minutes or longer Today being the third time. Resulting in me being disqualified me for not the best however and better job than none Lastly the principle was supposed to had been set up a meeting for him.other members of faculty and myself, Which has been taking more than the class year NOT EVERYONE RESPECTS THE INSTITUTION OF FAMILY NOT ALL OF THE MEMBERS OF THE SCHOOL ARE ACCOUNTABLE I DONT LIKE BEING LIED TO, BEING THREATENED OR BULLIED
Christopher AndersonNov 18, 2025Love Del Mar Academy. There are some small bullying issues and fights going on, it rarely happens now because the staff is really aamazin. But I wish the teachers cared more about the childs home life, it's sad to see them suffer.
GennaDec 17, 2024Its a very nice school I love it & my kid does too . One thing that I will say is that the bus stop driver going to retreat of Fitzsimons Doesn’t know how to deal with big situations. There was a fight between a little girl & little boy were they both were hitting each other & the teachers did not call the parents rather they try talking to the kids & now the kids are getting scared to go on the bus when all this other people want to start controlling the bus & who gets on & who gets off is very scary see this happening especially what’s been going on in AURORA !!!!! #ProtectTheKids
