This museum is an excellent restoration of a frontier fort. The displays, descriptions and photographs are outstanding. The Multicultural aspect of it is unique and wonderful. A fantastic learning experience opportunity. The store, however is focused upon local artist wares instead of on History Colorado merchandise.
Mark HissJun 22, 2026This is a great, very historically informative museum! It looks unassuming whenever you arrive, but the staff and director have put much attention to the care of this fort, and accurate account of the areas history! We actually got to meet the Director of the museum, and he was very nice and gave us even more of the details of the areas history with our discussion! Really glad we decided to take a tour!
Jennifer StrobelMay 11, 2026We had a truly serindipitous visit. We met the museum director, who was so gracious to share depth beyond the exhibits and even a little local flavor called pasole. This historical fort is an amazing preservation of period buildings with mind broadening exhibits and wonderful staff. Highly recommend you check it out!
Walt SMay 10, 2026Cute little fort museum. Tons of books and historical items in the shop. Not a huge place but we'll kept up and it was nice to get a little green from driving. Restrooms are also available.
Stacy POct 16, 2025Great Buffalo Soldier and Indigenous veterans exhibits but I miss the Kit Carson setup from years before. I was looking forward to seeing that again.
Diane FAug 18, 2025I stopped at this museum last year in March and just now making a review of it. Nice western history museum of the area. I mostly took pics of the insides of the buildings. They have a nice gift shop in the front.
