  • We love Scuttlebugs and the whole staff. They give the love, learning, and attention to our little guy that we were afraid didn't exist anymore. We've been sending our kid there for almost 2 years and contrary to other reviews we've seen almost no turnover in staff. Everyone seems genuinely happy to be there and the owner Sam is the most gentle and kind person I've probably ever met. She pours her love into these kids and you can tell. Thanks for always watching out for our little nugget. ♥️

  • Our daughter went to ScuttleBugs for 2 years, starting at 6 months old. The only reason we left is because a new ELC finally opened up much closer to us, saving us the 5 hour total weekly commute we endured for two days each week. I cried multiple times at the thought of leaving this place. I only wish it were closer. Here is my detailed review: After interviewing at multiple locations, none of them came close to the value that ScuttleBugs provides with amazing hours for working parents and all-inclusive meals, snacks, diapering supplies, and even sunscreen. They truly focus on high quality and nutritious food options with impressively diverse menus each week. Our daughter absolutely loved it and even asked us to make some of the recipes they were making there. Once our daughter started talking, we really saw the impact of what she was learning there as well. During her time at ScuttleBugs we noticed a notable increase in her social skills, confidence, development, and knowledge. She was always excited to tell us about everything she learned each day. She knew all of the staff and other kids' names and talked of them fondly- evening naming two of her dolls after staff members there. The staff there also took time to get to know her on a personal level and made sure that she always felt included since it can often take her a while to warm up to new things. When we started there, ScuttleBugs was still relatively new to the space. When we left, it was tightly-run with a solid structure and routine in place. Any changes they put in place were always well thought through. For example, when they started enforcing hand-washing on entry for both parents and children more strictly, I noticed that our daughter came home sick MUCH less than before (an AMAZING feat that protected our entire family)! Due to our experiences there, I feel strongly that the reviews left by parents involved in the transition from the previous ELC to when ScuttleBugs took over the space are a bit unfair. Yes, turnover happens more often than we'd like (as it does at pretty much any ELC across the country), and it can be hard on the kids and families, but I feel strongly that ScuttleBugs handled it with transparency and grace whenever and wherever possible. Now that we are at a new center, here are some things we miss about ScuttleBugs: - The Parent Handbook (detailed and covered every base you could possibly think of, which helped a lot when she started) - The structure/routine (our daughter still sings the welcome song, weather song, and hand-washing song, & is confused on why her new center doesn't do it, lol) - The all-inclusive aspect, especially the meals (WOW, was that convenient!!!) - The friendliness of the staff (who took time to make connections with both kids & parents) - The educational aspects (our daughter truly learned a lot there) - All of the awesome kids songs and little accompanying dances/motions they learn! Our daughter even taught us a few we hadn’t heard before. - Arts & crafts (almost daily, and organized with care for parents to take home) All in all, I would absolutely recommend ScuttleBugs as a first choice for parents in the area. To ScuttleBugs - thank you for supporting our family with true empathy and compassion when we needed it most!

  • We had our daughter at ScuttleBugs for her first year and we absolutely loved it. The infant room was amazing for her growth and development. Her socialization was also well supported and she loved all the teachers (Ms. Karen, Ms. Matisse, Ms. Amber, etc.). I felt so safe and comfortable leaving her there for long days while I went to work. Ms. Sam was great at communicating and helped our family transition to the brand new world of day care. The food services is really fun and well done. I love using the ProCare app and seeing the pictures on a daily basis. Another positive was that we didn't have to worry about paying for diapers/wipes and food, etc. because it's all provided in the price. We moved so we didn't get a chance to continue with them to the toddler phase, but we would have 100% stayed with them if that weren't the case. Our little girl was well supported and celebrated by everyone at ScuttleBugs and that really makes my heart happy.

  • Our daughter has been attending Scuttle Bugs since she was 7 months old and my husband and I are continuously impressed and so grateful she goes here. From the thoughtful home cooked meals provided, well thought out lesson plans, and top notch communication, we are always at ease that our daughter is well taken care of and learning a ton while she is there. Can’t thank the staff enough for all the do and the love and care they provide!

  • Our daughter was at Scuttlebugs when she was 18 months - 2 years old. We really loved it. The teachers were kind and caring, and very communicative. Our main teacher was Ms. Cheyenne, who is amazing, and our daughter took to her very quickly. The school app regularly lets you know what your child is doing throughout the day, and teachers promptly message or call in case anything happens. We knew our baby was in safe hands every day!

  • ScuttleBugs Boulder has been such a great start for my child, who has been enrolled there full-time for 8 months. We are so grateful for the love, support, reassurance, and care they have shown us. The staff is so sweet and knowledgeable, especially Ms. Karen. Ms. Amber, and Ms. Matisse, and the Director Ms. Sam is a lovely, funny, and caring person. As a single working mom, they have truly become a huge part of our "village." Also, the nutrition/menu is spectacular if you value a fresh, diverse, and varied diet for your little one - Chef Liam is great! I very much appreciate that they have ongoing professional development days for their staff as well.

Questions parents ask about ScuttleBugs Boulder

How many infants and toddlers can ScuttleBugs Boulder take?

Colorado licenses ScuttleBugs Boulder for 20 infants and 24 toddlers. These are the bands the state publishes separately and they do not add up to the licence total, so treat each as its own ceiling. A licensed place is not the same as an open place, so ask about current availability.

Who can help me find child care near ScuttleBugs Boulder?

ScuttleBugs Boulder sits in the area covered by the Early Childhood Council of Boulder County and the referral agency ECC Boulder Co. Colorado funds these bodies to help families find and pay for care locally, and they can answer questions about openings and cost that a licence record cannot.

Does ScuttleBugs Boulder accept CCCAP child care assistance?

Yes. The state record shows ScuttleBugs Boulder authorised for the Colorado Child Care Assistance Program. Authorisation means the provider can accept CCCAP families, not that it has a funded place open now, so ask before you apply.
