We love this school so much. The teachers are amazing and actually care. We have met an wonderful community of families here as well. The food is healthy and quality prepared by a chef. They have wonderful activities such as Soccer Shots, Martial Arts, Dance, Music, Mad Science, Yoga & more. They offer speech & language assessments and my son has been taking speech lessons during school. Pre-K has been great and I am confident that my son will be well equipped for Kindergarten next year. Can not recommend this place enough!
Chelsea HuntNov 13, 2025I love this school so much. The teachers are so kind, thoughtful and smart. My daughter has excelled through Y1 and now in Y2. The kids love the teachers, they have so much fun in these classes and learn new things every day. The teachers are funny, and you can feel how much love they have for each of the kiddos. The great meals are also a huge plus and the fun activities like yoga, dance and soccer. Such a kind & welcoming community!
Jen HannonSep 5, 2025The Applewood School has been a wonderful school for our child. We have been incredibly happy with the staff, teachers and facility - they are incredibly communicative, kind, supportive and our child has had dramatic leaps in physical, emotional and mental development since attending. We really appreciate the fresh gourmet food and all the extras that Applewood provides - from Parents Night Out to all-school events to the engaging activities they bring in like music, dance, yoga and Mad Science! The teachers are all wonderful - educated and competent in their field, and you can tell they genuinely love all the kiddos! Thank you Applewood School, we highly recommend this school!
Hailey WrightAug 13, 2025Great quality school, great safe environment for kids, I love the staff teachers and the chef. None of the classrooms disappoint.
Ofer GuezJul 29, 2025We started with the Applewood School in November 2024. We were moving from a larger commercial daycare center and were looking for more structure for our son. Our son had a hard time with the transition for the first week but then did well for approximately 6 weeks and we were told often how well he was doing integrating into the new routine. Then a new lead teacher started. Once that teacher started he started exhibiting more frustration and hitting during transitions. We hired an OT to come into the school to help partner with the teachers to help him succeed. As our son became more frustrated we were notified he had tried to elope from the school and was found outside by a teacher twice. We were in constant communication with the director expressing our concern that we were at risk of disenrollment due to policies outlined in their handbook. We were reassured for several weeks we were “no where near disenrollment.” We were only told about behaviors on days he was sent home from school. His lead teacher would give one-word answers and no details when he was picked up each day. We had communicated with the center that we understood this might not be the right fit for us and asked for a few weeks while we found another care option. The director let us know she was sad and that our son “tugged on her heart strings” and she was so sad he would be leaving. On a Saturday morning we received an email from the owner that we were being disenrolled and were not welcome back as of Monday leaving us without childcare for our son as two working parents. The owner is unprofessional and cold. Make sure to meet the owner before enrolling in this school. Upon further discussion with our OT after disenrollment she let us know she had given his lead teacher multiple suggestions on how to help our son with transitions and she informed her “we can’t do that here.” They claim they do not have the staff to help but are staffed better than most daycares in the area. There are a few float teachers and the director who are very strong caregivers and kind people.
Erika HermanApr 7, 2025We love Applewood School! My youngest started at 12 months old, and my oldest is in Pre-K at 5 years old. They both have learned soo much, but most importantly I know that my oldest will be going to kindergarten fully prepared and probably ahead of the curve. The school includes meals and snacks, has great hours, the teachers are awesome and both my kids love going to school. In October they brought Mad Science in once a week for the pre K classrooms at no additional costs, and in fall and spring you can sign up for Soccer Shots during school hours for an additional cost, which is really helpful for full time working parents. They are a quality childcare option in the WR/Lakewood/Applewood area!

Questions parents ask about The Applewood School
How many infants and toddlers can The Applewood School take?
- Colorado licenses The Applewood School for 17 toddlers. These are the bands the state publishes separately and they do not add up to the licence total, so treat each as its own ceiling. A licensed place is not the same as an open place, so ask about current availability.
Who can help me find child care near The Applewood School?
- The Applewood School sits in the area covered by the Gateway Partnership for Early Childhood Council and the referral agency Child Care Innovations. Colorado funds these bodies to help families find and pay for care locally, and they can answer questions about openings and cost that a licence record cannot.
Does The Applewood School accept CCCAP child care assistance?
- The state record does not show The Applewood School authorised for the Colorado Child Care Assistance Program. Authorisation is county-administered and can change, so confirm with the provider and your county office.
