Highly recommend the Sequoia School! We sent two babies through this program (our oldest was there from six months until he went off to preK3), and we only have positive things to say. The owners (Young and Selma) are professional, reliable, and compassionate, and have put together a team of teachers with whom we felt wholeheartedly comfortable leaving our kiddos each day. If you’re looking for a local daycare in Trinidad that will make you feel like part of a supportive community, the Sequoia School is it.
Christy GrimesApr 4, 2026I highly recommend Sequoia School - our child attended for three years (starting around 6 months) and it was a fantastic experience from start to finish. The staff created a warm and structured environment that truly prepared our child to attend school (prek3). Over the years, we saw tremendous growth in both social and academic skills - everything from early literacy and problem-solving skills to kindness, independence, and confidence. The communication by staff (including management) was also excellent. We always felt informed about our child's day (so many pictures!). They also fostered a true community, with field trips, outside activities (like yoga on the weekends), and potlucks in local parks. Sequoia is a wonderful place and we highly recommend it.
Molly BraeseNov 20, 2025Words can't describe how highly our family recommends Sequoia School. Our first child was with the program from 10 weeks old until he was 2.5 years old (and only left the program because we moved 40 minutes away) and our daughter was there from 10 weeks - three months old. If we hadn't moved, we never would've left. The staff, the owners, the facility - everything is top notch. The app is updated regularly with frequent updates and photos, making it much easier for working parents who miss their little ones. Selma, Young and Genevieve are likely family to us now and many of the teachers are in our regular rotation of babysitters. Our son is outgoing, friendly and smart - and we give all the credit to Sequoia. There is very little teacher turnover, fantastic curriculum, an excellent meal program option, and they provide diapers, wipes, etc. They were also wonderful when we potty trained our son. I cannot say enough wonderful things about the daycare - it is like a family! - and we truly miss them dearly.
Lexi BransonOct 23, 2024We chose sequoia because they make it so easy for parents. The menu is healthy, they have extras built in like weekly high quality visiting yoga teachers and music teachers, and they organize family get togethers monthly so you can meet your kid’s pals. The community is invested and great. Lately, I’ve seen several siblings of grads attend, which is the ultimate testament. The big surprise for me was thee social-emotional development, how affectionate the kids are with each other and how tender the teachers are. During the pandemic area when the city was masked and nervous, my daughter built lasting bonds with teachers and friends. She still mentions them months after leaving and she freely announces ‘I love everyone.’ I also appreciated the owners. They were present daily, greeting parents and sometimes rocking babies. They were organized and caring.
Donya RahimiOct 28, 2023I can not say enough good things about Sequoia School and what a comfort it is to have your child some place you truly trust. It is such a difficult decision to leave your infant to go back to work but so comforting to know they are in such a loving and caring environment. The Sequoia School was less of a school and more an extension of our family. The teachers are so patient when we come and go teachers from other class rooms would stop and say good morning or good night to our son. There are a few details I would pinpoint that really set the school a part from others and a few things to consider when you are visiting schools trying to determine what is best for your child. 1. Updates: There is an extremely high level of communication at Sequoia. The app Sequoia uses is very easy for parents to access and they are constantly sending updates. You really feel involved in your child's day and have a great understanding of what they do throughout the day. 2. Curriculum: Teaching begins with the infants they have reading, art, and music. They also do parent teacher conferences with very thorough assessments of how your child is developing we found this super helpful. 3. Meal Program: We struggled with getting our son to eat at first, he just loved his bottles. We found it really helpful to enroll him in the meal program at a young age. The kids in a circle and they all eat together, it is adorable. I think seeing other young children eat really helped progress his understanding and he is now an excellent eater. The meal program at Sequoia School is top notch in comparison to most schools, they do a great job introducing different fruits and vegetables and everything is organic which is a huge comfort. 4. Parent Involvement: Pick up and drop off at the school is very seamless which is a great pro, but it can be difficult to meet other parents. Sequoia hosts yoga and music in the nearby park about one weekend a month during the nicer months and it is a great way to meet other parents and get to meet the teachers that come to your kids classrooms. If you are in search of caring and nurturing place to send your child I can not recommend the Sequoia School enough it is truly a special place.
Frances BerginMay 3, 2023Our 2 year old (at the time) Daughter attended Sequoia School for a whole year from the first day of opening and we could not have been happier with the Staff, curriculum and loving care she was given. We absolutely loved our experience here. After attending other daycares in the City we found Sequoia to be, hands down, the best. She was welcomed and treated like a family member where she thrived daily. It was the best footing to be able to transition to Preschool easily. In particular my daughter loved Selma and still talks about her 7 months later. There are daily activities like yoga, music with Mr Steve, weekend family activities that allowed us to connect with other neighborhood families and thorough app updates. The food/snacks are the healthiest you will find compared to any other City Daycare. We love and miss Sequoia!
