Little Raiders Learning Academy may carry the Savannah Christian name, but don’t be fooled—that’s where the similarities end. We were so excited for our son to get into LRLA, as we had planned to send him K–12 at SCPS, but this entire experience has ruined that for us. Based on our time there, this daycare falls drastically short of the standards you’d expect from an institution associated with SCPS. My wife and I encountered so many issues during our son’s time there that we ultimately withdrew him. You’d expect a daycare to be empathetic and understanding—especially when you’re entrusting them with your infant. Instead, we were met with condescension and irritation anytime we asked basic questions or raised concerns. One of the most alarming incidents occurred when we arrived to pick up our son and found him asleep—standing up—in a jumper. He had been left like that for 20 minutes, which was later confirmed after we requested the camera footage. The staff member responsible responded by saying, “Is that because he had a helmet?” That response alone shows a serious lack of training on the basics. Not only is that completely unsafe—it’s also against state law. It makes you wonder what else happened when we weren’t there to witness it. They also forgot to feed him—twice. That’s inexcusable. Yes, they forgot to feed a six-month-old baby. You’d expect the staff to be trained and prepared to maintain feeding schedules, even when a teacher goes on break—but that clearly wasn’t the case. When my wife brought this up to the director, Alicia, and suggested keeping feeding schedules in cubbies for support staff to access, Alicia responded, “That’s a great idea.” That should already have been standard practice. Things didn’t improve. His teacher refused to follow the sleep schedule we’d worked hard to establish. She insisted he needed to be held in order to fall asleep, even though we’ve never done that at home. After six weeks of back-and-forth, she finally admitted that he went down exactly as we described—with no help. Why did it take that long? They claim to follow your child’s routine, but that simply isn’t true. We weren’t asking for anything special—we just wanted what was promised: consistent care, clear communication, and a safe environment. Instead, we witnessed staff scrolling on their phones while ignoring the babies. And when we brought up legitimate concerns, we were treated like a nuisance. Even the Headmaster told us he spends the least amount of time at the daycare and relies entirely on the onsite staff—because he’s unfamiliar with early childhood regulations, given his K–12 background. That alone should be a red flag. We finally had enough and pulled our son out. There are far better options in the Savannah area.
Jordan HowardAug 6, 2025Our daughter (4 years old) has assisted to Little Raiders for almost a year and my wife and I feel really fortunate for her to be there. Ms. Teresa and the rest of the teachers do a great job with the kids and their preparation for Pre-K.
