  • An absolutely incredible place to visit! Whether you’re a history enthusiast, an aviation fan, or just looking for something meaningful to do near Savannah, this museum is a must-see. The exhibits are beautifully designed, the restored aircraft are impressive, and the stories of the brave men and women of the Eighth Air Force are presented with great care and respect. The interactive displays and short films make the experience even more engaging, and the memorial chapel is peaceful and moving. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable, and passionate about preserving history. Plan to spend a few hours here you’ll leave with a deeper appreciation for the sacrifices made during World War II. Highly recommended for visitors of all ages!

  • Great museum! Wish I had allowed more time to check it out. I love the Partisan /Underground Network displays and the POW displays! Thanks for recognizing those special areas.

  • If I could give this museum more than 5 star, I would. We pass by here several times a year going up and down I-95 and finally had time to stop. The museum is much larger than it looks from the highway. There are several full size planes, including a B-17 bomber. You get to see several movies about the 8th Air Force, and there are so many other exhibits both inside and outside. We planned on stopping for a half hour or so, but wound up staying a full 2 hours and didn’t see everything. Anyone who is interested in WWII events needs to visit. We enjoyed the vast memorial gardens and a chapel with stained glass windows honoring fallen comrades. The docents are all knowledgeable and helpful.

  • What a fun and informative museum! My son and I went midday on a Thursday. We did not take a tour, we did the self-guided version, and it was lovely. A ton of great information and artifacts from that time period!

  • It was an amazing experience! I booked a hotel near the museum so I could take my husband! He is a huge history buff and absolutely loves airplanes. There was an amazing tour included in the price of your ticket which I thought made the experience even better! Very knowledgeable and friendly staff. Tickets were $13 each.

  • Came here to get a little bit of a peek at the military history/aspect of Savannah, Georgia. While here we didn’t get bored at all, every exhibit was different and complex. I would personally say my favorite part was the refurbished B-17 in the museum. Finally, I was so impressed with the immense size of this museum and detail of ALL the parts of it. I will definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a fun family-friendly historical visit!

Questions parents ask about National Museum of the Mighty Eighth Air Force

Is National Museum of the Mighty Eighth Air Force a licensed child care provider in Georgia?

National Museum of the Mighty Eighth Air Force holds Georgia record EX-49058, listed as "Open" by Bright from the Start: Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning in Chatham County. Confirm current standing on the state's provider search at families.decal.ga.gov before enrolling.

Why is National Museum of the Mighty Eighth Air Force exempt from licensing in Georgia?

Georgia records National Museum of the Mighty Eighth Air Force under the "Day Camp and School Breaks" exemption. An exempt programme is not licensed by the state and is not held to the same standards as a licensed centre or home, so ask the provider directly what oversight it does operate under.

What is National Museum of the Mighty Eighth Air Force's Quality Rated star rating in Georgia?

Georgia publishes no Quality Rated star rating for National Museum of the Mighty Eighth Air Force. Participation is voluntary, so a provider without a rating has not been assessed under the programme rather than been rated poorly, and it is licensed and inspected either way.

Does this page show inspection results for National Museum of the Mighty Eighth Air Force?

No. Georgia publishes inspection and complaint history for each provider by fiscal year, and none of it is included here, so nothing on this page reflects National Museum of the Mighty Eighth Air Force's inspection record either way. Look the provider up on the state's provider search at families.decal.ga.gov and read its visit history.
