Too be brief…our daughter has been attending Sunshine since she was 4 months old. There has been SEVERAL challenging issues gone unaddressed or reported. Our daughter comes home with bruises, bite marks, welts, scratches, rashes, hives and given this is the FOURTH incident we have brought to their attention we repeatedly receive push back when addressed. No videos, no pictures, no evidence of my child NOT being abused at all. And lastly, we just recently went on vacation where she was absent for 4 days, Mon-Thursday . Only for us to return and be told she had been removed from the system. Not only were they made aware of said vacation but they also took my payment for 2 weeks on top of a new registration fee. This morning we were met at drop off by administration telling us she can not return unless we pay. Yes you read it correctly. A police report has been filed. As a parent this was our only choice at the time of her starting. She is now enrolled with Meadowdale learning center. DO NOT ENROLL YOUR CHILDREN HERE. Especially infants to 1-3 year olds. This business front is clearly a scam trying to attach themselves to military families subject to their convenience. Smithvilles location is below and beyond. We are HIGHLY upset and traumatized by the experience. Save yourself the problems. Sincerely, X Loyal Customer
Charles CaldwellMay 12, 2026A VERY UNPROFESSIONAL PLACE! I totally would not recommend! if they are this careless with enrollment Of children how careless can they be with taking care of them? for about two months now they have been giving me the runaround to properly enroll my son into the daycare. In every time I go up there or call they say they don’t have paperwork on My son, (which she just found a few days ago) which I remember, turning in personally to the director,( Miss Klarissa) Or he can’t start this week. it has to be next week when he start. Since he was accepted In September not one person has ever reached out to me, EVER! So the last time that I went up, there was the week before Thanksgiving and I went up there to make sure that he could start and again they told me he cannot start that week because spots was filled in. She told me he had to start next week, so I finally brought him to start that next week and they turned us around yet again. She just told me that since I didn’t call, she went ahead and filled the spots because she “assumed that I didn’t want it anymore” which makes no sense… How spineless, careless, and unconcerning! I have missed work twice because of the mishap and it is honestly unacceptable. She had no remorse for the situation, no solution or anything. daycares like this remind me of the ones that just simply want money. And this is supposed to be a “Christ based” establishment, and I felt him the least throughout the whole situation. So again, my fellow review readers I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND! People say “Christian based” To add a razzle dazzle to the name, but they are far from it! Happy Holidays you guys! And God bless you and your children!❤️
Shalandria FosterDec 29, 2025First time putting my son in daycare and we are so grateful to have found this place! The deciding factor was the director, because she gave a friendly introduction to the daycare, and jusy overall gave off positive energy. Everyone here has been nice. They always greet you when you come in. I love how they have a double security method where you have to put a code in twice. One of my favorite things about this place is the procare app which lets you pay, and see your balance. It also provides insight to what goes on inside the daycare, showing what time they had a diaper change, and what kind of diaper they had, as well as when they eat and what kind of food they eat. They are always serving the kids good food, like hamburgers, fruits, veggies, and meatballs. Me and my brother came in one day and they were serving macaroni thay looked really good. We both said it looks better than food we had in school.
raegan newtonNov 21, 2025Both me and my daughter really like this place. Everything is very professional and made more simple with the ProCare app. They keep us informed and consistent as well. Anytime I call for information, there is virtually no wait time to get it as well. Edit: I think it's time for an update. That being, I still really enjoy this daycare. It also goes to say that respect given is respect received. There have been many times where I was late on payment, and I was given grace when they absolutely had no right to per policy. I also want to say, that it always seems like my daughter is a favorite among! Not saying she is, but every worker here always says "Goodbye" and "Good morning" to her with a smile on their faces, regardless of situation. There have been times where I hear some of the workers being frustrated with the children, but then again, the workers are also human. Dealing with small children who are going through the brain development process all day would wear anyone down.
Nathan TarpleyMay 12, 2025In response to what you so distasteful put in my review. My question was why you did not call me to let me know you were not picking up my children from school instead of the school calling to let me know. It was simple question I called for nothing more and nothing less. I didn’t call to ask about your payment policy. Just a courtesy call since I was new. I understood the rules of the payment policy. However, it was not the information I received but the way you told me that you didn’t have to call and it’s in the policy about payment. That was the complete opposite of what I called you in regards to. I have dealt with other daycares who would give a courtesy call if something has happened whether it was in regards to my children or the account itself. It is not my fault you don’t know how to handle things professionally and have poor manners when addressing people that pay for your services. Whether or not there was a balance was not the issue I advised you it would be paid by the date you stated. I also find it funny that you decided to throw a temper tantrum in response to my more than polite review about how I felt. Nevertheless you didnt even know what I told you staff until we spoke on the phone. Either way, you have shown how once again distasteful you are at handling business. As I told you per our last conversation, no matter if I am in the wrong or the right with asking that question, you need to speak to people in a better way.
chasity casonMar 12, 2025I’ve had my children here since November of 2021 and I can fully say I love it. This is by far the best daycare we’ve attended. We’ve done the fancy, brand new daycares and even though the building isn’t anything fancy, the teachers and staff are top notch. It’s very small, which makes everyone close knit and everyone knows everyone. The teachers are constant and there’s no sense of not knowing, they can always provide an answer or they will find out. I can’t say enough things about this daycare. I 100% recommend that you bring your children here, if they have a spot available!

Is Sunshine Children's Academy a licensed child care provider in Georgia?
- Sunshine Children's Academy holds Georgia record CCLC-34850, listed as "Open" by Bright from the Start: Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning in Houston County. Confirm current standing on the state's provider search at families.decal.ga.gov before enrolling.
What is Sunshine Children's Academy's Quality Rated star rating in Georgia?

Does this page show inspection results for Sunshine Children's Academy?
- No. Georgia publishes inspection and complaint history for each provider by fiscal year, and none of it is included here, so nothing on this page reflects Sunshine Children's Academy's inspection record either way. Look the provider up on the state's provider search at families.decal.ga.gov and read its visit history.
