  • The Y is one of my favorite places in Augusta. It has adapted programs for my special needs (adult) daughter, and she is always welcome by staff and members alike. Meanwhile a homeschool program is offered for my other kiddo. The gym has everything you need for a great workout. The staff is wonderful. Yes, the building could use some additional upkeep outside of routine maintenance, but you can certainly tell they try to keep everything clean and looking nice. I love the Y!

  • Great place to workout. If you don't like crowds go early. Excellent selection of equipment and they offer various activities for the family.

  • We really did not enjoy our visit to the aquatics center today. Dominique and staff were over the top rude when we didn't know they were blowing whistles for all children to get out of the pool for 10 min. We thought that was an outdoor pool policy only. Apparently Dominique and the snooty Caucasian swim instructor seem to think that it's ok to make up rules as they go. We waited 10 min (it's hard not to miss if youve been sitting there, watching only half of the pool being utilized by old people anyway). When I notified the swim instructor that it had been 10 minutes and we'd appreciate being allowed to get back into the pool, she copped an attitude and said "WeLl, We MaDe It 15 MiNuTeS." I asked her why, because all of the kids who'd been forced to get out seemed a little antsy with their parents. "BeCaUsE wE sAiD sO" I was like "Why did you say so, though? Are we just making rules up as we go?" Dominique stepped forward and said "BeCaUsE wE hAd To WoRk ExTrA hArD tO GeT eVeRyOnE oUt Of ThE PoOl AnD wE'rE OvErWoRkEd AnD UnDeRpAiD." I said, "Man, I had no idea." They blew the whistles directly after that conversation. Dominique and staff turned around and went back to sitting down and discussing what appeared to be their personal conversations. I noticed that not once did they seem to be doing anything except having personal conversations all but maybe the 5 minutes it took Dominique to test the pool pH levels. Then she was right back to messing around and acting like it was her break time. It seems to me that maybe she is underpaid, but definitely not overworked, based off of her spending 90% of her clock hours sitting and socializing. I forgot to mention that her swim attire was misfitting and appeared to be riding up her rear to the point of looking like a thong. It probably needed to be up a size or in the form of shorts to be appropriately modest for YMCA policies. Oh, and the only other time I saw Dominique get up from her seat to stop socializing was when she was telling is to get out of the "Swim Lessons Only" lane when there wasn't anybody scheduled to be there for another 25 minutes. Yes, I watched the clock, because it's absurd to have a section of the pool closed down for use when nobody is clearly using it at that time. We would've gladly moved when someone was there who clearly had reserved the space. By all means, Dominique, if you're overworked and underpaid for sitting down to socialize for 90% of your clock hours, maybe it's time for you to find a different job? To add: nobody can hear whatever staff in the indoor pool are saying. Nobody. You can't get mad when people can't hear you. Get a megaphone already! They're only $13 each at Harbor Freight. We pay full membership fees for our family. There should be no excuse as to why the aquatics dept can't afford this.

  • Just moved (back) into town and was excited to join the Y on a family plan with our daughter. The value for what you can access is fantastic! Michelle helped sign us up and was so patient and kind to finish our registration even though it was past closing time (5pm) and above and beyond to then sign our daughter up for swim classes as well (8 classes for $60!!!)

Questions parents ask about Wilson Family YMCA

Is Wilson Family YMCA a licensed child care provider in Georgia?

Wilson Family YMCA holds Georgia record EX-41278, listed as "Open" by Bright from the Start: Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning in Richmond County. Confirm current standing on the state's provider search at families.decal.ga.gov before enrolling.

Why is Wilson Family YMCA exempt from licensing in Georgia?

Georgia records Wilson Family YMCA under the "Day Camp and School Breaks" exemption. An exempt programme is not licensed by the state and is not held to the same standards as a licensed centre or home, so ask the provider directly what oversight it does operate under.

What is Wilson Family YMCA's Quality Rated star rating in Georgia?

Georgia publishes no Quality Rated star rating for Wilson Family YMCA. Participation is voluntary, so a provider without a rating has not been assessed under the programme rather than been rated poorly, and it is licensed and inspected either way.

Does this page show inspection results for Wilson Family YMCA?

No. Georgia publishes inspection and complaint history for each provider by fiscal year, and none of it is included here, so nothing on this page reflects Wilson Family YMCA's inspection record either way. Look the provider up on the state's provider search at families.decal.ga.gov and read its visit history.
