Wonderful staff that provides amazing care for our daughter while also introducing her to reading, math, and many other subjects. 10/10 experience with having our daughter attend Hugs & Bugs.
William MillerFeb 26, 2025They have been wonderful for my two kids
Jacob PaulJan 10, 2023With two little boys, we've been to numerous daycare providers and more than one center. We are very pleased with Hugs & Bugs and the curriculum that is provided. We travel from out of town to bring our child to Hugs & Bugs. The staff is friendly and reliable and always has new and fun activities for the kids. The programs and special family activities are top-notch. No complaints from this Mom. Keep up the good work!
Amy HottmanFeb 7, 2018Years after my child attended Hug & Bugs he/she told me some very disturbing stuff that went on there. If I were to have known then what I know now I would have reported them.
John LiffickAug 2, 2016Our overall experience at Hugs & Bugs preschool has been great! The teachers are great with the kids and they learn so much throughout the year. They also have a great summer program and plan many different activities to keep the kids entertained.
Deanna PellumJun 25, 2015This place is AWFUL!!! I truly dislike speaking poorly about anyone, but this is the only way to describe it! We started sending our son to Hugs and Bugs, one day I picked him up and all the way down the hall I could hear a teacher screaming at a child...I don't mean she was raising her voice or even yelling, she was SCREAMING at the child! The next day I spoke to the head teacher and explained to her what had happened and that while children need to be disciplined, I expected that my child would never be screamed at, she was very apologetic and agreeable. The next day my father took my son to drop him off and was told that my son was no longer allowed to attend their daycare! I sent my husband in to find out what was going on....he was given a letter that stated I did not agree with the way they disciplined and therefore our son was not able to attend there. When he explained that the only thing we did not agree with was our son being SCREAMED at, their excuse was that the child they were screaming at that day was an autistic child and that was how they dealt with him!!! An autistic child! My husband's brother is autistic and therefore we know that screaming at an autistic child is an absolute no-no!!!! PLEASE, whatever you do, do NOT send your children here!!!

Questions parents ask about HUGS & BUGS
Is HUGS & BUGS a licensed child care provider in Illinois?
- Yes. HUGS & BUGS holds Illinois licence 631690, listed as "License issued (IL)" by the Department of Children and Family Services, licensed as a day care center in Champaign County. Confirm current standing at sunshine.dcfs.illinois.gov before enrolling.
What ages does HUGS & BUGS accept?
- Illinois licenses HUGS & BUGS for children 2 to 12 years during the day, with a licensed day capacity of 66. The span is what the licence permits, not a statement of which ages have places free.
What languages are spoken at HUGS & BUGS?
- The licence record lists English. That is what the provider reported to the state, not a guarantee that a speaker is on site at every hour.
Does this page show inspection results for HUGS & BUGS?
- No. Illinois publishes monitoring and licensing reports going back to 2010 through Sunshine at sunshine.dcfs.illinois.gov. Those reports are not included here, so nothing on this page reflects HUGS & BUGS's inspection history either way. Look the provider up there and read the monitoring record.
