This review is specifically about the decisions made by the Director of Little Lights Academy. My son attended this daycare for years, beginning when he was just a few months old. During that time, our family paid tuition and supported the school. We experienced one late payment and immediately attempted to correct the issue. I personally offered to pay the outstanding balance, as well as future tuition in advance, in an effort to resolve the matter. Those offers were declined, and my son was removed from the program. After discussions with his mother, my son was eventually re-enrolled. However, I was informed that I, along with my mother and father, could no longer enter the facility. I was removed from being able to pick up or drop off my son, placing that responsibility entirely on his mother. What makes this situation even more disappointing is that we were initially told we would be allowed to attend my son’s graduation. Then, shortly before the event, we were informed that we could not attend after all. As a result, I missed one of the most important milestones of my son’s early life. When we asked for written confirmation or an explanation regarding the decision to prohibit us from attending graduation, we did not receive a response. Parents deserve to know how issues are handled when disagreements arise. My concern is not the teachers or staff members who cared for my son. My concern is with the leadership decisions that led to a father being unable to attend his son’s graduation despite years of involvement and support. Everyone can draw their own conclusions, but this experience left me disappointed, frustrated, and heartbroken.
Anthony GrandisonJun 14, 2026I came here, thinking that my daughter would be accepted with her religious exemption for not being vaccinated… TO my disgusting surprise and shock they DO NOT AND REFUSED TO EXPLAIN WHY they don’t accept unvaccinated children. that is absolutely appalling who gave all these churches, and all these institutions so much power??? that they can deny a child, their religious exemption??? all of them need to be called out every single one of them!
Bachata DivaFeb 20, 2026Amazing school! The Director is irreplaceable, compassionate, involved, and truly cares about every single student. The church community is wonderful and they have helped reinforce a love for God in our children. They really try to create a sense of community and family. Wonderful school for all age groups. Graduation was bittersweet.
L. GonzalezOct 4, 2024Liked this school a-lot until my son was diagnosed with Autism at 2 .Theres nothing put in place at all for children that might have any delayments. Was called often to pick up my son when he cried too much or needed any additional attention.( never compensated for it) Was told before that they were not a special ed school. He was only 1-2 at the time. Knowing his delayments, they still forced/promoted him into a older class that the teacher to student ratio decreased significantly (2 teachers to 15 kids) and called me every single time they felt my son was a distraction. He was ONLY 2. Pros. They allowed his therapy sessions. I connected with one teacher (Ms. Tracey) . You can tell she just genuinely loves what she does. I know everyone may cant related to having a child on the spectrum, but something should be put in place where they are not being automatically singled out due to it.
Terryne McclurgeMar 23, 2024Oak Lawn Day Nursery is an excellent place to enroll your child. Teachers are well educated, love and care for your children, and work to meet their emotional, physical, spiritual, relational, and academic needs on a daily basis. The office staff is hard working and stays in communication with parents and teachers. The facility and rooms are clean and safe. 10/10 rating.
E AJan 5, 2021This day care is the best. I had 2 children that went to this day care. The teachers are excellent at teachering the fundamentals to children. The really prepared both of them to stay focused on what they were learning which will help them in future grades. They reinforced sharing. The teachers care about every child there and noticed one child needed glasses because she had a hard time reading letters in pre school. The safety measures for picking up children are excellent. As a mom safety was important as well as environment. Thank you.
