We couldn’t recommend Northminster Nursery School enough! My son began here in the Blue room this year and everything about his experience has been outstanding. Teachers and staff are so welcoming and genuinely love the work that they do. Classrooms are beautiful and spacious and the newly renovated outdoor playground is such a wonderful bonus. We take part in the Extended Day program which allows him a little more time away from home each day and it’s been a huge success for him so far. There are so many events for parents and families to get to know each other and the sense of community is lovely. We can’t wait for our daughter to begin in the Green room next fall! As a former early childhood educator myself, I can’t say enough good things about this school.
Hannah SklaverNov 24, 2025We have absolutely loved sending all three of our children to NNS! The play-based curriculum is everything we hoped for—engaging, creative, and developmentally spot-on. The teachers are incredibly loving, patient, and kind, and it’s clear how deeply they care about each child. The parent community has also been such a gift. When we were new to town and didn’t know anyone, NNS immediately provided a warm, welcoming network of families who made us feel right at home. Their summer camp is a highlight in our house—fun, thoughtfully planned, and something our kids looked forward to every year. And the newly renovated playground is amazing! It’s such a joyful space for kids of all ages to play, explore, and grow. We’re so grateful for NNS and couldn’t imagine a better start for our little ones. Highly, highly recommend!
Emily Reidy TwiggNov 17, 2025Northminster Nursery School is such a special place. This is our fifth and final year. We highly recommend Northminster with no hesitations. The teachers, assistant teachers, directors, helpers all care so much about each student. Our kids were always excited for school days. They both matured into kind, less shy, happy kids during their years in the green, blue and yellow classrooms.
Scott DixonNov 17, 2025We came across this school by word of mouth and every single person who has sent their kids here has had glowing praise. After touring several schools in Evanston, it was a no brainer that our children would be attending. The warm, inviting enriching environment has been just what we were looking for. I cannot express how thankful we are for the entire staff and teachers, there is a consistency of tenure across the board that spans decades and their dedication and attention they give to the children was above and beyond what we saw at the other schools we visited. If you are looking at options in the area, it would be a disservice to your child to not explore NNS and what they have to offer.
Sunil D'SouzaNov 17, 2025Northminster is such a gem of a nursery school in NW Evanston. The teachers, administration, and parents make up the most supportive community-- it really feels like a place where you are cared for. I work in early childhood education and love that my own children get to play and learn in such a happy environment that is developmentally appropriate for young kids. The teachers truly know what benefits preschoolers, and I can attest to the massive gains that my own kids have made in their sense of independence, creativity, and problem-solving skills.
Danielle SenkoOct 8, 2024We love Northminster. Our older daughter graduated, and now in 1st grade, still talks about how much she loved preschool. Her teachers remember her well and still ask after her and how she's doing in elementary school. Our younger daughter is in the Blue Room and has made many friends at school. She is full of stories of what she accomplished, what her "jobs" were that day, and the new things she learned - big and small. The teachers care, they provide thoughtful updates to each parent, and we love seeing the newsletters each week with photos and tidbits about classroom activities. We love that there are options for how many days you'd like your child to attend when they reach Blue Room, extras like lunch bunch in Blue/Yellow, or extended day in the Yellow Room. Northminster is a great little community that's been around for decades and I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a great preschool program!
