Both of our children attended Journey (and Discovery previously), and we are incredibly impressed with the excellent care they received. Melissa and her team run a program that is a cut above the rest. To understand their incredible philosophy, I highly recommend reading The Importance of Being Little by Erika Christakis—it perfectly describes the intentional, child-centered environment they have successfully created here. Highly recommend!

S AguilarJan 26, 2026I had the fortune of finding Journey when I first moved to Poolesville. It was such an impactful and positive experience for my youngest. The caregivers are warm and share so much wisdom with the kids. The kids are able to just be kids, and learn at their own pace and focus on what is most important at that young phase of developement. One of the most valuable lessons my child was able to practice at Journeys was problem solving in social settings. Being able to relate to his peers and solve disputes in a safe and kind manner. I highly recommend this early learning center.

They are allowed much more freedom than at other preschools to explore and learn in their own ways, embracing art, nature, and the joy of childhood.
Andrew ChurchillNov 12, 2025My son spent his last preschool year as a Journey kid (and the prior 2 years under the same management with a different name). During his time there, we saw him blossom from a reserved kid to an engaged, curious, self-assured kid. He loved his classmates and teachers who exhibited immense care. He transitioned into kindergarten knowing how to advocate for himself and problem solve. While our preschool Journey is over with our youngest child, rest assured it remains an invaluable establishment for Poolesville and the surrounding area.
