  • St. Alphonsus is a wonderful preschool. Its small size helps create a close-knit community where families know one another and children receive plenty of individual attention. Most importantly, the teachers and staff are incredibly caring and nurturing. The program provides a great balance of play-based learning and structured educational activities, including regular hikes in neighboring Patapsco Valley State Park. Our children loved their time there, and the school did an excellent job preparing them for kindergarten.

  • St. Alphonsus Preschool has an AMAZING pre-k 4 program!!! I mean the whole school at every level is wonderful, and we’ve been there since my first daughter was 2. She just graduated pre-k 4 and is writing all her letters, upper and lower. She knows all her letters-sounds. She has learned simple addition. Not only that but her imagination has flourished, she’s learned about hibernation, how plants grow, the lifecycle of a butterfly and so much more. I cannot sing st. Alphonsus’s praises enough. They also are so special in that they will really work with you on a school schedule that works best for your child. We had a schedule conflict last year where my daughter couldn’t go to school Mondays and they lets us enroll her for Tuesday-Friday half days. A lot of places won’t do that. All of this to say- we love st. Alphonsus, check it out!

  • My son spent two years at St. Al’s preschool in Woodstock and had the most wonderful experience. The teachers and program director went out of their way to create fun ways for the kids to learn and make special memories. They also had the kids create the sweetest crafts and keepsakes that we appreciate so much. We will miss this school and highly recommend it!

  • Truly, I could not have picked a better place for both of my girls to start school. St. Al's was such a blessing to our family - it was such a positive, happy, fun and creative achool environment that felt like family. That first school experience can really change how your kids feel about learning/school forever, and both mine love going. The teachers all are so sweet, you can tell they actually want to be there and love their jobs + love your kids. Ms Lisa and Ms Joanne are absolutely amazing in the 2s class, I was so impressed at all the sensory activities and art projects. We loved Ms Suzanne and Ms Pam in 3s also - I saw so much progress in handwriting, counting and letter recognition and my girls only went part time. Could not suggest this school more! We were so sad the military moved us away from this great spot!

  • A Wonderful 7-Year Journey! We've been part of this preschool community for the past 7 years, with all three of our children attending--and we couldn't be more grateful for the experience. From the very beginning, the staff has been nurturing, patient, and truly invested in each child's growth and development. Each of our children had different personalities and learning styles, and the teachers met them where they were, helping them thrive socially, emotionally, and academically. The curriculum is thoughtfully designed, blending play-based learning with just the right amount of structure to prepare them for kindergarten and beyond. The communication with families has always been clear and consistent, and the sense of community is something we'll truly miss. It's rare to find a place that feels like an extension of your family, but this preschool has been just that for us. Thank you for giving our children such a strong and joyful start to their educational journey!

  • My family has been a part of the St Alphonsus Pre-school for the past 5 years! We have had two kids go through their programs, starting with the 2 year olds, rising 3s, 3s, and Pre-K 4s! I can not say enough good things about this school! From the adminstration to the teaching staff, they are all not only professional but personable, friendly, and just wonderful people! I am so sad to have this be my last year with them, as my youngest will be starting kindergarten next year. I have one in public school Kindergarten this year and she was well prepared and is doing fantastic with the foundation she received at St Alphonsus. But if Kindergarten has taught be anything, it is how absolutely spoiled we have been with St Alphonsus and the wonderful program they have created! From the clear and concise communication both in person and through email, the pictures they send daily that help you feel connected and know what your kids are doing the hours they are away and especially the events they host to include and involve families and showcase the kids hard work and talents! We were truly blessed to have such a wonderful foundation of learning and fun!

Questions parents ask about St. Alphonsus Preschool

Is St. Alphonsus Preschool a licensed child care provider in Maryland?

Yes. St. Alphonsus Preschool holds Maryland licence 1746223558857x967553091681904900, listed as "CONTINUING - FULL" by the Office of Child Care, Maryland State Department of Education in Baltimore County. The licence is recorded as Continuing - Full, running to September 30, 2027. Confirm current standing with the Office of Child Care before enrolling.

What does Maryland record about St. Alphonsus Preschool's standing?

Maryland records St. Alphonsus Preschool's status as "In Good Standing". That is a single status field in a snapshot, not a compliance history, and it is not the same as a clean inspection record. Maryland publishes inspection findings separately at checkccmd.org and they are not included here.

Does St. Alphonsus Preschool operate all year?

Maryland records St. Alphonsus Preschool as a "School Year Only" programme. That is the schedule on the licence record rather than a timetable, so confirm term dates and closures with the provider.

Does this page show inspection results for St. Alphonsus Preschool?

No. Maryland inspects licensed child care programmes and publishes the results through Check Child Care Maryland at checkccmd.org. Those reports are not included here, so nothing on this page reflects St. Alphonsus Preschool's inspection history either way. This page's record comes from Maryland Family Network's LOCATE service, which carries licence and status data rather than inspection findings.
