We could not be more thrilled with our family's experience of Little Acorns, and my husband and I can confidently say that finding child care providers that care for our two year-old daughter so well has been an absolute highlight of our move to the area in November of last year. While we had a number of much closer daycare options, we couldn't justify sending our daughter anywhere else after getting to know Kathy and Sam and seeing the phenomenally enriching environment they've created for the kids in their care. Little Acorns is worth any drive, and we have been blown away by the care our daughter has received. Kathy and Sam love on our little girl like she is their own. We have had the privilege of witnessing them develop relationships with EACH and every kid. They are truly invested in every child's growth and development, and are genuinely excited to share with parents new skills they've witnessed. Lines of communication are always open, and I've always felt comfortable asking questions. I drop my daughter off every morning knowing that she is going to be safe, loved, encouraged, and taught. The environment Sam and Kathy have created is joyful and nurturing - it encourages exploration and allows kids the space they need to play independently and together. Little Acorns prioritizes our daughter's social and emotional needs and works with her toward milestones she is approaching. They provide such amazing scaffolding and manage to engage all the kids in activities, even with a variety of ages. Our daughter is always excited to go to what my husband and I affectionately call, "the Oak Tree," and we get fun glimpses of the songs she sings and games she plays there in our time with her at home. I recommend Little Acorns without reservation to families whose priority is to find an environment for their littles to learn to be good humans, as well as agile learners - Kathy and Sam are role models for the kids in terms of their own interactions with others.
Kimberly ParkerMay 20, 2025My child does not go to the daycare, but these lovely ladies were my daughters special education teachers. The love, care and patience they had for all the kids in their class was truly amazing. My daughter adores them and loves when she gets to have some time with them. They still treat her with such love and care. She learned so much from them and continues to. If my children were younger I would 100% send them to little accorns playcare.
Tabitha McClayMay 20, 2025While my child doesn’t attend Little Acorns Playcare, I’ve consistently heard amazing things from friends and family. The staff is known for being warm, professional, and truly dedicated to the kids in their care. It’s clear they’ve built a strong reputation in the community for providing a safe, nurturing, and enriching environment. I’m happy to recommend them based on the trust and praise they’ve earned from so many others!
Heather PouliotMay 15, 2025Our family is so lucky to have found this gem of a daycare! My son has been going here since they first opened, and he adores Mrs Kathy and Mrs Sam. They are wonderful with the kids. Couldn’t ask for better!!
Emily PhaneufMar 27, 2025Do not recommend. Sent our 2.5 year old here for a month and had enough. They sell a good story, but quality of care does not live up to promises. Gave popcorn (obvious choking hazard) as snack. Babies sleep in swings. Food is awful - like chicken nuggets and French fries from convenience store across the road, cupcakes, donuts. Hyper focused on obedience - almost every daily update included notes on how well or not directions were followed, etc. Unwilling to work with family/cild during transition struggles with drop offs, naps, etc. Not enough outdoor time, too much screen time. Had power disconnected for failing to pay a utility bill. Kiddo would come home every day in a foul mood. Speaking harshly to her stuffed animals and putting her baby dolls in time out. She comes home from her new day singing songs, having circle time with her stuffies and teaching her baby dolls how to do self soothing bubble breaths. She had night terrors several times a week when going there, which stopped immediately upon moving to a different daycare center. Whatever happened there caused her significant emotional distress. The final incident that resulted in us immediately terminating our enrollment was this. I brought my daughter in to drop her off. She was in absolute inconsolable hysterics – as had been the case many mornings since transitioning her to Little Acorns less than five weeks before. One of the owners, Kathy, was sitting on the floor with two other children calmly on her lap. She made no effort to move those children to help my child. She appeared quite annoyed that I suggested my child might be the one who needed snuggles at that moment. She did eventually stand up to take my child, who I hugged goodbye and reminded that I would be back to get in the afternoon. I left but I did not fully close the door and so could hear all and see most of what happened next. My child continued to cry and scream “I want Mommy” over and over. The owner’s response to her was “I know. You want your Mommy” in the tone of a schoolyard bully teasing a 7-year-old for wetting his pants. Not 30 seconds after she thought I had left she had put my child on the floor, still screaming. In doing so, the pantlegs of my child’s leggings had ridden up and was causing more distress. My child requested help pulling them down. I could now see both owners. The second owner, Sam said “Kathy, I think she wants you to pull her pantlegs down” whose response was a gut-wrenching look of disgust and distain toward my child and a verbal reply of “OH! I *know* what she wants” followed by no effort at all to offer assistance. I went back in to help my child. The owner looked at me with doe-eyes and innocently said “what? I just put her down. I didn’t understand what she wanted. ” The fact that she seemed to almost take sick pleasure in causing my child distress was disturbing enough, but the fact that she would then boldly LIE about it was simply unacceptable. I took my child home immediately and we will not be bringing her back. The only redeeming quality is the enormous indoor space. Check state licensing reports and beware of reviews from their friends. (One of the other reviews I talked to as a reference and she was actively looking at another daycare the same day!)
