St. George Preschool Academy

After touring the preschool, the program director, Polly and I Sat down in the office to Discuss days and times that would work for my 2 year-old to attend the school. It was at this point that Mrs. Burden (2 year old teacher) Walks by the office. Polly Informed her that my 2 Year old was going to be in her class. 1st words out of Mrs. Burdens mouth was “I’m gonna need help!” Which made me really uncomfortable because that should have been discussed without me being presented, very unprofessional….then she looks at me and immediately says “is he verbal”. My child is speech delayed, also keep in mind that He is only 2 years old. She made me incredibly uncomfortable and was asking me questions that were out of line like, “do you have any other children with delays?” “Does he sit at a table?” “does he play with other children?” And many more questions that should not have been a deciding factor. These are all things a 2 year old would learn and get better at if he WERE IN SCHOOL! When I told her he was a little behind on speaking, she completely shut down to the idea of having him in her class, she mentioned that we could “try it out and see how it goes In my classroom but if he’s going to be screaming all day, I don’t know how beneficial that will be to him” Not quite sure why she assumed such a thing when my son does not “scream all day” to make a long story short, Polly called me the next day to let me know that my 2 year old son could not attend the preschool because of his speech delay. Even though she was looking at days and times that would work with the class schedule for my son to attend. It was right when Mrs. Burden gave her input that shifted the whole tone of the experience …Makes you wonder what the intentions are of the staff because there should be no reason why they denied my 2 year old admission into the school. If one were truly passionate about being a preschool teacher, they would want to help and want to see growth in a child. I got bad vibes and do consider it a positive on my end because I would not have been comfortable with my child under her care after seeing how “easy” she wants things to be…Did my little baby scare you that bad?? Beware, the school aesthetically looks nice but I don’t know about the staff after what I experienced with them.
