Edgcumbe Montessori & Day Care

Edgecumbe Montessori was a great place for our kids to grow and develop. The staff is very kind. It made it easier to drop our children off knowing they were cared for and would have a good time. The outdoor space is fantastic! Thank you to all who helped care for our kiddos.

We highly recommend Edgcumbe Montessori. Our two daughters attend the school in the Pre-K and infant programs. Our 3-year old has an IEP, and they welcomed the special ed teacher from SPPS into the classroom with no problem, and the process was very smooth. The director is easy to communicate with and incredibly prompt in answering questions. The teachers are very good at their job and care a lot about the children. Our 3-year-old was at a different Montessori for about two years. The environment was not working for her, so we moved her to Edgcumbe after hearing good things from our neighbors whose kids attend the school. Edgcumbe welcomed our daughter with open arms, and it's been a fantastic experience for her. They spend much time outside, which our daughter needs. We enjoyed the school so much that we decided to send our 8-month old daughter. The infant program is excellent because there are only six babies in total, so it's not overwhelming for our daughter. She comes home well-fed, rested, and in a good, mellow mood. We also love the hours! 7 am - 5:30 pm is fantastic!

I’m that parent that researches ALL the options when it comes to my kids. What attracted me to Edgcumbe was their vast outdoor play area (2 acres tucked away from busy city streets), their loving teachers, and their hybrid approach to teaching/caring for toddlers. Ivan, the director, was responsive to all my questions, kind, and gave me confidence that my daughter would be in good hands. Ms. Sandy and Ms. Missy are hands down the best toddler teachers I’ve met. They welcomed my daughter with open arms and helped her to feel comfortable with her peers. My daughter has grown so much developmentally and has acquired new skills that would have taken me longer to teach her. I recommend Edgcumbe’s toddler room to parents who want their kids to spend a lot of time outside in nature while gaining confidence in their abilities.

My wife and I have been sending our daughter to Edgcumbe Montessori for over a year now and we love it! The teachers are warm and caring. She is exposed to a variety of different activities everyday. The price is reasonable compared to some of the other centers in the area. There is a huge green space for the kids to play outside. We would highly recommended Edgcumbe Montessori to anyone looking to send their child to a great daycare.

We visited and applied to Edgcumbe Montessori & Day Care for care for our infant. We found them through recommendation of my coworker who also takes her child there. When we visited at pick up time, all the kids we saw were happily playing and the parents we encountered spoke highly of their experience there. The owner was very nice and answered all of our "first-time" parent questions. The location is on a quieter street in Higland Park with plenty of parking for drop off/pick up. Ultimately, we ended up at a different daycare only because of closer location to our house, but otherwise would have happily gone to Edgcumbe Montessori.
